Sigh, it's been too long since I've been immersed in the Dragon Age setting. Be announced already, DA:I!

The most interesting detail I read in OP post is "new dragon age game coming in 2013" and not 2014 as many rumors were claiming.

Why Egyptian? This doesn't look particularly Egyptian to me at all (if you mean Pharaonic Egyptian).

Mostly the stripes I guess.  Also the colours.  Maybe the cat statues, though they're the wrong sort of cat statues.

To make it clear, did not mean this as criticism. But I always wonder where people get their associations from, particularly when I think these totally miss their mark. I usually blame Hollywood ;)

I can understand some people thinking this to be at least vaguely 'middle eastern', though. Stripes entered Middle Eastern architecture through late Roman architecture, and there's a carpet on the ground. Somehow carpets got
associated with the Middle East...And lions are associated with Africa.

Striped columns aren't Egyptian though.

Siena Cathedral

Nor are polygonal columns. The lioness statues use a 'sitting upright' posture fairly common in Graeco-Roman and later western sculpture, though the angular features suggest modern art deco influences.
Lions are associated with Africa these days, but they were also present in (southeastern) Europe and southwestern Asia in historic times; that's were we got all those Mesopotamian and Greek lion statues and lion-hunting scenes from.

But striped columns and lioness statues are cool. Wouldn't mind them in DA3 at all, done properly ^_^.

Looks cool. :)

edit: That's what I thought when I saw that. Also, female Qunari in light armor with sword. First time I've seen that. Very cool design.

And she's hornless to :D

Wasn't it a placeholder? Maybe they forgot to update it.

Yes, DG said it was temporary art. I also presume the Russian site just hasn't updated it yet.

That pair look like Tal-Vashoth to me, with the woman carrying weapons, neither of them having horns, and the man dressed like Salit (and a few other Tal Vashoth) from MotA. I'd love to interact with more Tal Vashoth. The only time we've been able to interact with them before, it's been too brief - the merchant in Awakening, and Meraas in DA2.

Straining my eyes trying to read all the information,  lol.

US has Morrigan ( on amazon ) - would much rather it be her, if we have a vote ;) Either way, they are both excellent pieces of art.

Have not seen this asked before: It says 'Volume 1' - does that mean there will be more coming? Is Volume 1 only up to a certain point?

If this is Starkhaven, as was said in the other thread, then Starkhaven looks surprisingly egyptian.

Definitely looks Egyptian to me as well.

Oh, totally...<_<

Image IPB

Otherwise, I think this an okayish piece of concept art, if a bit bland.

It actually reminds me of the interior of some mosques. With the striping being brought into the posts and buttresses. Maybe Starkhaven is early Islamic and Muslim related and less the modern fundamentalism. As for Nevarra; that too seems like a mosque without the pillars surrounding the normal central structure.

I can see a basilica base form in there. But so many architectual styles rose from the basilica layout or expanded on them. Central dome with a proceeding approach. Large gallery with apsidal linings. The interior would answer more then the exterior.

I think both covers look great but personally i'm loving the Morrigan/Flemeth cover. Porbably because Morrigan is one of my favorite DA characters.:)
