I'm tempted to pre-order but how much of this book is new info vs already known game lore I can find in the codex or on the DA wiki?

It's funny how the stuff we see in game looks nothing like what the concept artists give us.

Too true, unfortunately. Hopefully with the Frostbite 3 engine they'll be able to make the 3D models more similar to the concept art. It would be tremendous to walk around in Val Royaeux with NPC's that look like that!

Is there actually anything new in it? Or is it just an collection of all of the information previously made available?

I wonder too but I did re-read a bio-blog on it and it says, "... we’ve penned dozens of brand new codex entries from familiar characters like Varric and the ever-prolific Brother Genitivi, which dig deeper on topics as wide-ranging as griffons and Kal-Sharok to sexuality and sacrifice."

Full blog.

So I hope at least two dozen new entries if not three+ dozen new entries/mentions on the lore.

This.

And a codex entry penned by Varric (and written in-character for him) is instant win.

You think you'll get it tomorrow? Are they all shipping now? I still see an April 30th publication date on the US Amazon store.

There are review up already!

As for Amazon, they ship stuff as soon as they get supplies and there are no restriction. Dark Horse release date is April 17th, so if they got the books they will start to ship them.

I got my confirmation from Treehouse that my copy is on it's way to me now. Hopefully you all will be getting your copies shortly too. I'm really looking forward to fanboying out with this. I loves me some lore.

My order on Amazon UK is showing a shipping date of 16th-17th, so hopefully it should go out tomorrow, since it hasn't yet! Crossing everything... can't wait for this book!

I received mine on Monday as a birthday gift, I think my boyfriend ordered from the Bioware store? I got the one that comes in the box with the separate concept art piece. I obviously haven't read it all the way through yet, but I've scanned everything and it's seriously awesome. The timeline at the bottom is really cool, same with the info on all the nations and the language/terms for the races.

Also there's more than one "excerpt" written by characters we know (besides Genitivi, who has lots of course).

And I'm calling zombies for DA3 based on some bits in the demon chapter, and I will be terrified (zombies, they scare me).

How is it? Anything new and substantial on the lore? I'm still on the fence about buying a copy.

it's lovely. I've had to wrench it away from my son, and have only managed to read the first twenty pages or so, but I'd say it's worth it so far...

Anyone minding reporting on the mentioned timeline? Does it clear up some of the lingering questions on some of the transition events between DA:O, DA:A and DA2?

The timeline gives the slaying of the archdemon and all the events of DA:A as occurring in 9:31, as is Hawke's release from servitude. It doesn't give a date for Anders' arrival in Kirkwall, but it doesn't seem problematic given this timeline. The destruction of the Chantry is in 9:37.
