Absolutely not, they're going to milk this **** until nothing but pulp is left.

No. Mass Effect trilogy started as a soft-RPG game and ended as a TPS and as long as Bioware is owned by EA all next games are going to be TPS and released every 2 years (it doesn't matter if they are polished or even finished). EA is going to milk this franchise no matter what. Is that good? Bad? Well, if you want more Mass Effect games and you don't care about plot, quality or not being a RPG anymore, it's definitely good. If you care about those but still hope Bioware can make a decent product, then it's bad because you are going to be disappointed in 1-2 years. If you still feel pissed off every time you try to replay ME3 and just can't, or every time you read or think about Casper, space magic, or the whole ME3 disaster and if you have already moved on, then it's bad as well because you will see how a good franchise with such potential is going to be milked until its horrible death (woah, too much melodramatic? XD)

sadly, people are still willing to buy mediocre stuff.

mass effect 3 was a let down ... dialogue, story and gameplay-wise (BäM-EA!! ... BäM-AE!!).

yet, people are willing to pay for stuff, that should have been part of the original game (from ashes, leviathan) and blunt, useless sidemissions (omega). and mp-packs off course.

I believe the Mass Effect franchise could have been a much more respectable science fiction franchise had it continued in the steps of Mass Effect 1. But after seeing the deterioration which first struck the franchise with Mass Effect 2 and then Mass Effect 3, the potential of the franchise has pretty much been lost.

It's a shame really, especially seeing as Mass Effect 1 is really close to hard science fiction, the only obstacle being element zero. Nevertheless the mass effect principle itself is simply brilliant.

Another thing I should put some emphasis on: It wasn't just the ending that happened, Mass Effect 3 happened. The ending is just the tip of the ice berg.

EA draws out everything beyond to the point of it begin well over done.

EA ruins everything by not giving the developers a larger window that they would like.

It can still be giant and long lasting. There are enough people who will swallow any crap as long as they get to blow stuff up and see sexy aliens. But It ruined any chances of being the groundbreaking, genre defining series that it could have been.

mass effect will last as a franchise .. at least for the next game .. nobody knows how good it will be, if you subtract the hype. one thing is sure .. people will be cautious.

one thing is certain. the end of mass effect 3 was a "jump the shark" moment for a lot of people - those people will most likely go on and leave the series.

This^ the causal gamers are the zombies of our industry. They complain about alot that we hardcore gamers(senior gamers that is) complain about however they STILL are dumb enough to still buy there DLC and still hate even that.

The casual gamer has no self control and is the main reason why devs and publishers are focusing on them and its causing our industry to SUFFER with games that lack innovation and creativity.

To the casual gamer----- If your going to complain like the rest of us then stop buying there stuff...period!

OP, not really.

It more ruined the chance for the franchise to be taken as a serious piece of science fiction.

Can't agree more.......reward and support developers that produce good products.......walk away from those that don't....it's that simple.

tbh ... i only brought mass effect 3, because it is the end of sheps story.

the decay of mass effects writing is terrific. especially the dialogues, the tropes, clishes and stereotypes are out of control. mass effect started like terry pratchet and ended like stephenie meyers.

No, ME2 ruined that chance way before ME3 and it's ending was even created. ME did have a chance but ME2 threw that all away.

Yes, and it's not because of angry people but instead the fact that the options going forward are limited to only certain things which in my opinion will not fly.

Of course not. Most people on here will pre-order the next ME game after a few trailers and screen shots. They just don't want to admit it yet.

That was not targeted at you.

Yeah, Ive got all of the games with all of the DLC's up untill ME3 I have NOT bought the DLC's to ME3 after they nuked it all up. I tried to hide in a 1950's refrigerator to hide from the blast but I came out into radiation and raged that I now had to suffer from bad wridiation.

No one alive can answer the thread's title question.

Still amazes me how people are so quick to say how the game sucks in many ways, simply ignoring the amount of content and the quality of the said content only because it doesn't match their apparently superior point of view.
Because everyone is such a best seller writter, and speaks with the authority of such a person.

Don't know, but they're gonna have to pull a rabbit out of the hat to get me back on board. Until then I'll just watch from the sidelines and laugh at the abysmal sales of the next mass effect game.

No, its bad when a writer abandonds the entire plot to start a new one with new plot devices and new plot directions that are not in context with the rest of the series and there by alienating the rest of the series.

BTW, in almost every series to any game/movie the fan made stuff is always better then the actuall writers because of the passion that the fans have is more creative then the writers who are not as passionate.

Erm, it's been a year you know. And you don't have to be any sort of writer to know when something is shoddy and poor.
