Would I want Shepard back? Sure that would be nice.
Would I mind a new character? Not at all, Shepard did have a good long run overall.

I much rather select the race/gender of our next character and build from there.

Only in a ME3 remake otherwise no. I want to explore the Mass Effect universe with a new cast of characters, especially ones without the Reapers breathing on your neck.

There is nothing left for Shepard to offer us, in terms of story. Would hard to get passed the whole reaper thing playing as him. If they do fix the endings, so a post MEU exists, I would be very disappointed if they went with Shep again(But I'm pretty sure they wont do this).

I'm not totally against a new character though, so long as he is equally or more compelling.

Shepard is the greatest hero of sci-fi and video game. He's a part of me. Sure I want to replay him again in new journeys.

I think mass effect requires Shepard to be mass effect. Just as it needs the citadel, the mass relays, turians, salarians and asari. These have become part of the full universe now. Take something out and it's going to feel differently.

But even with that said... they couldn't even make mass effect 3 without taking Shepard's development out of our hands, turning him into their character instead of the player's. I have no reason to think they could do better with ME4. That said it'd be better to just leave him (and every single one of his squad) out of any future games.

Or,  it's time for BioWare to prove that.
It's gonna be the tough test for the universe and the lore, and that's what makes it so exciting for me. For I always imagined what it's like if I'd been there when Star Wars or Star Trek was first released, this may be my generation's shot at creating something like this.

I also think Shepard had his share, and as much as I love this character, I want a fresh new start.

Why would I? I didn't even neccessarily get MY Shepard back for ME3. And the Shepard I got died anyways, so...

As a protagonist, yes. I'd just say start a sequel and say the ending to the last game didn't matter. Ignore the results. The reapers lost the war. Period, and I don't care how illogical it sounds. No save game import. New story. Sweep it under the rug unless they're going to write a new ending. Starbrat never happened. The reapers caught a AI virus and self destructed. Hand wave it.

No. Shepard's story is over, and I don't think he should return just for the sake of returning. Time to move on.

Hell to the yeah. I would so want my Shepard back as my player character.

As an NPC would be cool, but a little dissapointing.

A number of references to him from other NPC's/random sources would be totally awesome. In fact, I'd probably prefer this to meeting him as an NPC. Unless I got to fight with him... Man that would be cool.

If the next dlc doesn't give femshep the closure she deserves, then yes bring her back for the next game where she can have that closure.

If femshep is not to be in the next game then have no one from past games in it at all.
