Nah, his story is finished. A cameo would feel out of place in a future ME game.

At most, a cameo.  Not directly tied to the new story.  Like, "oh, that Councilor Shepard really gets things done".  Something like that.

TL;DR - A big fat yes.

For me - Mass Effect is Shepard with his teammates. Means Bioware/EA can cough up anything lore-friendly with her/him and I will buy it and smile, no questions asked. Now if they make a story that has absolutely no connection other than some random characters, they got to make it as a new game and make me believe that it will be good. No Shepard is acceptable, I'm still open to ideas, but ideally the game should allow an import so that through-out the game all sorts of news can tell me what hero he/she was. That at least some old characters could come back, and that those characters would now what to think of Shepards actions and who was her/his LI.

Any sequel, no mater how far in the future needs to somehow know what the choices were and asking a question on the shuttle is a very lame way.

Offtopic: When I was playing oblivion and somewhere the nerevar reborn was mentioned, I literally shouted "That me, how wonderful of them to mention me!"

no ifs, ands, nor buts about it: yes....they can have him in a different part of the universe, with a new crew, meeting new people,e tc. but it needs to be shepard as the main character....cause despite what people want to believe, people associate mass effect with shepard....just like chief with halo, kratos with god of war, dante with dmc, etc....when it comes to game series, people like to have 1 person they use through the different adventures....there is an attachment that happens after you play more than 1 game with the same character....

if they dont bring back shepard, they need to just do a new game series and not call it mass effect...there should be no mention of shepard at all....

Not really. If so, I'd like to have him/her as a voice on a com-radio or something. I don't think they'll let us import his/her face from the other games. Also I'd like to see a game that takes place before or at the same time as ME1 So maybe you could run in to Normandy while Anderson is still captain?

I'd like to see Shepard as a character that assigns missions to the newbie especially if you did the control ending. Also he, she or it could become a squad member.

I have no issue with Shepard stepping aside for future games. I do want to see my Shepard be found, healed with some quality time away and then made the new Human council member. A role deserving and could have as much face time as current Council does.

If they make a sequel game and you import destroy I would not mind a Shepard cameo but nothing more.
