Why cancel DA2 DLC if DA3 is coming 2014?

You're mixing up your products.

Mark said retailers weren't interested in carrying an Ultimate Edition for DA2 (a reprinting that included all the DLC).

The expansion was canceled simply because they felt it would be better to focus all effort on DA3 (so Exalted March was canceled in 2011, and the team, at least all the writers, began working on DA3 in full at the beginning of 2012).

I'm not quite sure how an "Ultimate Edition" could have ever legitimately been put on the table.

There were - what - 2 DLCs released (3 if you include Sebastian), zero Ex-packs - oh, and I guess a couple of item packs. Wouldn't you need a good bit more material than that to create a viable UE?
