keystpwned, those look great! YAY!

@ those wondering about how I matched teams up. I numbered every team by order of sign-up, then used everyone's favorite method -- RNG -- to set up the pairings. Размещенное изображение Fairest way I could think of to match XBox, PC, and PS3 teams.

Also, all teams have now been notified via PM as well. Gracious, that took longer than I thought... no thanks to work interfering! Man, doesn't my day job know I'm trying to run a tourney here??? Размещенное изображение

Drew Giant Cerberus.

I can work with that. I didn't realize we'd be up against a PC team in the first round. Should be interesting.

I live on Giant.  We got this.

I think I became 18.5% better at this game during morning practice. It was frustrating (I'm sure you could tell on the mic) but by the end I was pulling off things I've never done before.

Sometimes you need to get your butt kicked a little to learn... :P

Agreed. That's what I loved about Cory's competition... a friend and I had been talking about trying to do a Gold duo, but hadn't worked up the courage yet. Then Cory's Army of Two popped up and we thought, "Hey, there's our excuse!" and signed up. Learned a LOT of valuable things from our practices on that and advice from fellow competitors.

for the wild card or 'highest loser' you should have put it the lowest margin lost because diff maps have diff points and may be easier to get higher points etc but to late now anyways.

I was just thinking about this yesterday. Different factions give different amounts of xp.

Indeed. I think Cerberus gives less points than the other 2.

Would've loved to get in on this at Bronze if I'd seen it, but it wouldn't've gone anyway because of a lack of teams. For the best, probably, as my manifest is ew and I'd be quite timid.

I did think about that, but as far as I could tell... Collectors seems to be the only faction with a rather large discrepency in the points given. I went back to all the scores from Cory's competition and, for a large part, Reapers/Cerberus/Geth all seemed to fall anywhere between 300,000 - 600,000 depending on strength of the teams. But they all largely looked to be relatively close to each other... while Collectors lagged way behind.

And since nobody is facing Collectors until Round 6... at which point everyone will be playing them... I thought this might work out well enough to pass.

But I am keeping notes on how this goes and what might be done in the future to make ME tournaments better. Not promising I have another one in me relatively soon, but I wouldn't be against running one again down the road.

I'm going to record our gameplay on Firebase Giant/Geth.

We have a quite detailed and -hopefully- working strategy, but I will not upload the game until the end of the first round.

EDIT: It's not going to work, sadly. At least you won't get to know our strategy.;)

Dragon, is there a time limit to how long a match can be?

It's gonna be tough to beat Dagger, in say, under 25mins, while still getting a good score..

Unfortunately, it is too late to join this tournament as it has already started.

But I may hold another one in the future, so keep an eye out for any announcements. Размещенное изображение

Nope, I ultimately decided not to do a time limit thing. It's just straight up experience points + credits = tournament score. You can drag your match out to 8 hours or more if you really want to (not that I recommend it, for sanity's sake).
