How to Crusader: A guide to one of the best guns in the game

I loved this gun before, but I think I discovered its maximum potential of awesomeness today when I tried it on my SI. The modus operandi is foolproof: TC + ED + wait till target becomes stunned to shoot him for profit. Marauder-level units are OSK'ed on Gold and boss-level units fall prey to this guy's immense DPS (which, if I'm not mistaken, is one of the top three in the game, along with the Hurricane's and Harrier's, when it comes to range-independent guns).

Try it with Disruptor Ammo (for tech bursts) or AP Ammo, a rail amp, shotgun amp V, and a stabilization module. On Platinum, it's outstanding; on Gold or below, it's so overkill it should be illegal. 

My only minor concern is Phantoms, who move around too fast and never become stunned by ED, but headshots do wonders. Or you can carry a Hurricane/Talon as a sidearm. 

At this point, the Crusader is pretty much a scopeless Black Widow with more ammo, four-shot magazines, and a higher DPS, sacrificing the immediacy of the BW's shots. That and it uses shotgun mods/amps. A buff would trivialize every other heavy weapon in the game.

I love that gun, I have a cruzader X that is pretty much like second nature for me to use it. Even without scopes or stability still manage to headshot moving target form across the map and though walls some times even. It is really good for gold and platinum. Been using it since the day I got about a years ago for the heavy duty on gold and platinum.

Better than the Valiant in every category but weight? I'm sorry but I don't agree because the Valiant can deliver three accurate shots at extreme range without the firing delay and reloads just as fast. It may be more powerful but the Valiant will always be a better long range weapon.

I agree, the crusader works wonder with the salarian infiltrator. I really started getting the vibe when I slapped some stability consumables with it. I don't need them as much now, but they really help. I personnaly carry a scorpion as a backup, so phantoms are note a problem. Plus it's roleplay :whistle::whistle:

I got the crusader repeatedly from commendation packs when I started Mass Effect MP. Initially I thought this was a bane but when it hit lvl IV or so I started to really like it.

I run different weapons on pretty much every class so each character has their own primary gun. It was hard to find the right fit for this. My QFI uses the collector sniper. I did have it on the human Infil. but never really use her.

I found it great paired with the destroyer soldier with his extra perks and more recently I put it on my Turian engineer who is a good match for the gun as you can snipe away while your turret watches your back.

I put the Claymore X on the new Alliance infiltrator but after switching to the Crusader X next match I think she was made for this gun. They're the perfect couple, she has extra shotgun damage from cloak evolution 6 and so can snipe across the map with it and then if something does manage to get close snap freeze and hip fire will decimate it in a shower of icy death.

This has probably been asked several times already, but what exactly is the delay like?

Is it basically like a (poorly) simulated bullet "travel" time where the bullet registers a fraction of a second at the area the crosshairs were aimed at when fired?

Yes, it's a hitscan weapon, the only hitscan weapon in MP. The delay is 0.02s. So as long as you click when the reticule is red, you should be OK.

The Valiant is one of the only SRs that I still like, but yes, the Crusader does outperform it.   Significantly more damage per shot, slightly slower RoF, same accuracy, 4 shots per clip and innate piercing.  The Valiant keeps up quite well on a sniping Infil with the 25 percent multiplicative bonus, but without that, it's not even close.

On using it on an SI, it is a tremendous kit for it, but he's the only Infil that I keep as a sniper for when I want to burn through some SR amps and save my shotgun/pistol/ar amps.

Yeah, Bjorn, I have my SI specced for sniper rifle damage (typically run an Indra on him, not a Crusader), so I kind of feel like I'm wasting a nice damage bonus there, but I found Energy Drain exceedingly helpful when using the Crusader. It effectively negates the sole setback of the weapon (the delay).

That and I'm completely out of sniper rifle rail amps, having plenty of shotgun ones to spare :D

I wish more people gave the Crusader a try. It's seriously a monster. Once you master it, Gold becomes easymode.

Ha!  I'm perpetually low on SG and Pistol amps, and usually have 20+ SR amps.

Next, try it with the Geth Scanner on the SI, FQI or Drellfiltrator with both piercing mods and Drill III.  :devil:

Very interesting thread, OP, about one of the best weapons in the game.You are 100% right in everything, I still dont get the hate that such an incredible weapons still gets from many users.My only tip: use it exactly as the saber ( without scope ) and enjoy popping heads
