Did the mainly uninteresting squad/overall lack of squad mates ruin the replay value for you?

lol

I'm sick of these hipsters that invent things to complain about.

also lol @ 'I hate the whole squad except for half of it' in the OP

Hipster: "A person who follows the latest trends and fashions."

That doesn't really have any correlation to anything I said at all really... bizzare

There's no denying it's true. Mandatory squadmates always get the most complaints. It was true for Miranda in ME 2, and it's true for Liara, EDI, and James now.

Just wish that the ME2 crowd had a bigger role. Would have been good too see the game pan out differently based on who survived and what doors where opened and closed by having different guys alive/dead. At least that's how I thought it would (and should) have been.

Aside from Freedom's Progress (when, along with Jacob, there are no other squadmates even available), when was Miranda a mandatory squadmate? There's the loyalty mission, but that goes for every single squadmate in the game at some point.

Considering there are 4,083 different combinations of squadmates surviving and dying, that doesn't seem like a very doable thing.

Out of all the unique species out there, interesting stories to be told, diverese personalities and attitudes people can't honestly be happy that the best Bioware could come up with in ME3 is James Vega?

Believe it or not, making a character an alien doesn't automatically make them interesting. Shocking, isn't it? Nor does it automatically lead to any kind of satisfying development or meaningful interaction.

On bulk the majority of the most hated character in the ME universe are humans and the majority of most loved charcters are aliens.

She has a lot of dialogue that can't be avoided. She has a lot of debriefs after missions. She directs things during the Suicide Mission. She has content during the introduction, obviously.

I liked the squad just wish there was more interaction than them talking at you in between missions, something I felt could be addressed easily enough via DLC.

Nah, the characters were a little uninteresting compared to ME 2 but they were fine.  What killed the replay value was no true side quests, no freedom to do missions in any order and decisions overall not changing anything.  I played through ME 1 and 2 a good 7 or 8 times each with wildly different choices to see how things played out differently.  They didn't.

That's probably because it's human characters who tend to have content that can't be avoided.

Not really. I'm glad the ME1 cast is back. I liked the addition of Javik. I wish Zaeed had taken Aller's place and had been a LI for a renegade femShep, you know just because he was Zaeed. Or use Engineer Adams for the LI if Zaeed dead. The rest of the group was fine.

The reason for the lack of replaybility? Dat ending.

Honestly they should have saved the Suicide Mission thing for ME3 and used a more vanilla ending for ME2.

Some of the ME2 cast should have came back. Samara, Grunt, and Miranda have zero reason for not joining.

This. Having those three back would've been perfect. But otherwise, I think the squad was fine, excluding Tali. I'd trade any ME2 squadmate for her.

Problem with the ME2 squadmates is that they could die in the suicide mission. Which is why it was difficult to bring a lot of them back in ME3, too many variables. So they got the Wrex treatment. People should have seen this coming honestly.

1. So does every single squadmate in ME1. At least in Miranda's case it makes sense, what with her being the XO.

2. Jacob has more than she does.

3. No she doesn't. Not if you choose somebody who isn't Miranda.

There's no need to argue. I don't mind 'forced' dialogue, although that's not the term I'd use. I like Miranda, and it's perfectly acceptable and necessary to have content that can't be avoided.

The entire time I was playing ME2, I was thinking "I miss my old squad..." Most of them came back in ME3, so of course I was fine with the ME3 squad.

I actually think having 12 squadmembers was a downside to ME2. Some of them were completely irrelevant, even in the Suicide Mission. Why was I sent to recruit Thane, Grunt, or Zaeed when the only task they can succeed in is one that literally everyone else can do (escort)? Mordin also doesn't have much relevance on the SM, but we needed him for ship upgrades and to provide a solution for the seeker swarms. Other than their respective loyalty missions, most of the time they are just sitting on the Normandy waiting for me to solve their problems.

What would that exactly add if they were back for the sake of it?

The robot wasn't boring just a waste of a squadmate. It was really a 'what the f**k' moment when it asked my femshep about her sexual experience. After that comment I never talked to it again.
My femshep should've had the option of telling it to leave the platform or risk the airlock.

James I like since he reminds of a few guys I knew in the military.

Garrus,Tali(if they survive the suicide mission)and T'Soni I never talk to. I would replace them with Miranda,Zaeed and Mordin

It would've been nice for Ashley to have more dialogue.

Javik is cool. He calls it like he sees it.

what a bunch of boners over at bioware.

they pretty much oops'ed their way through ME3.

thatd be a start.

Yeah, i was rather disappointed with me3 squadmates, exept for Garrus. (EDI?, James? Why? ) Where is Wrex, Miranda, Jack? Maybe they could be temporary squadmates for their specific missions? No! "have to go shoot things nearby Shep, sorry! no way you can get me in your squad"
