Did the mainly uninteresting squad/overall lack of squad mates ruin the replay value for you?

Some of the ME2 cast should have came back. Samara, Grunt, and Miranda have zero reason for not joining.

This. Having those three back would've been perfect. But otherwise, I think the squad was fine, excluding Tali. I'd trade any ME2 squadmate for her.

What would that exactly add if they were back for the sake of it?

for one, a reason for ME2 to exist in the trilogy.

thatd be a start.

What?  How is adding a squadmate relevant to that?  Mordin plays a role without becoming a squadmate, Legion, etc.

Actually, it's because of the ME3 Normandy crew that I keep replaying the game. They're all generally great characters and some of the banter on the ship is priceless.

Lack of squad mates? I had Garrus and Tali (although she turned up far too late in the game). Could've done with Mordin and Wrex though I suppose.

my biggest gripe with ME3s squadmates is that they arent the ones i spent an entire game recruiting.

what a bunch of boners over at bioware.

they pretty much oops'ed their way through ME3.

Some might say it's kind of nice to work with professionals that already come loyal to the mission and don't need you to sort out their daddy issues personal problems.

Yep. This is my biggest issue with auto-dialogue, it destroys the complexity of each character imo. Also, **** Bioware for trolling the Samara fans. I know there are only like six of us, easy prey I guess.

Could you imagine the storm if Liara had said on Mars, "Now I can join you Shepard" and after you returned to the Normandy you got an email from her that she ****ed off to Thessia or someplace. LOL, what is this.

God forbid somebody want to clear their head of baggage when they're about to embark on a mission with survival odds pegged as "slim to none".

But I like solving daddy issues.
It makes me feel good about myself since I have no daddy issues of my own.

She got trolled more than other ME2 characters? I wanted to say to her at the end of ME2 "Your code could destroy you some day, be careful" (although it would need phrasing far more tactfully than that), what we got fitted, mostly.

Although, I'm glad Ashley and Liara are back, I do wish more of the ME2 cast had returned. Especially since ME2 was so much about the squad.

You can thank the suicide mission that was 'the oh so awesome and incredible in every way ending that should have been replicated in ME3' for that.

Bioware would have needed to record tons of dialogue for EVERY ME2 crew member you included, yet made the story able to function without them as if they weren't even there due to that little "everyone one of them could die" sort of thing.

The permutations involved were complex enough with Tali and Garrus as it was... and there would have been absolute rebellion in the fanbase if either of them were dropped to a side role for Miranda or Grunt or Jack or any of the other ME2 squad.

Problem with the ME2 squadmates is that they could die in the suicide mission. Which is why it was difficult to bring a lot of them back in ME3, too many variables. So they got the Wrex treatment. People should have seen this coming honestly.

1. Garrus.

2. Tali.

Have an excessively large fanbase that demanded it.

Your point?

I just meant that she says that she will join you once you complete the monastary mission, and then she disappears to the Citadel. Apparently she just meant the war effort, bwahaha. Not that I was actually mad, I knew she wasn't on the squad. It just seemed like a dick move.

So did Miranda. Source?

Not really; I didn't care for half of the ME2-exclusive characters anyway. Miranda, Jacob, Legion, Grunt, and Samara never really did a thing for me.

Javik is better than any of the squadmates who got sidelined.

My point is that even though the squad can all die in ME2, none of them come back, save for Garrus and Tali.

The reason for their not coming back is explicitly because they could die. Again, save for Garrus and Tali.

A number of ME2 characters have no reason not to join back with Shepard, but ironically enough, both Garrus and Tali have perfectly good reasons to stay off the ship.

Having the loudest and whiniest fans should have nothing to do with it. So much for artistic "integrity".

I'm not blaming the characters. We all have baggage. I'm just saying it's nice to not have to solve everyone else's problems when Shepard already has enough on his/her plate. I like the ME2 squad, but all twelve of them need you to do them a favor or else they are useless. It's kind of tiresome.

Character development was better in ME3. You had a mission where EDI was mandatory, and that mission gave you some insights on EDI. It's like a loyalty mission, only it was a mission Shepard was going to do whether EDI asked him to or not. She came along because she offered the best chances of success. The difference between Rannoch and Tali's trial is Shepard was going to have to deal with Rannoch one way or the other. Tali was featured in both, but Shepard didn't have to derail the main mission just for her. It's better.

I still loved Tali's trial, but it didn't help the feeling that I was babysitting everyone in ME2.

I would say that Thane was already loyal to the mission when I recruited him. As were some others, for example Miranda, Jacob. It's only natural that before a suicide mission, people think about their lives and try to deal with the things that they would like to fix. And even though they want to solve these problems, they don't say - do it or I'll leave your ship. And Garrus had his loyalty mission, too. Does it make him unprofessional? I have no reason to believe that at the end of ME2 my squadmates weren't loyal to Shepard, or better - I have no reason to believe that Garrus, Liara and VS were better friends for my Shepard than some of those she met in ME2. The looks on their faces, especially Jack, after suicide mission tell a lot about the respect Shepard earned, not got immediately upon the first meeting: "Oh my god, Shepard, you're so fantastic, I love you so much, we should be bestest friends forever" ;)

Sorry, I couldn't help that. I like Liara, Garrus and others, but in ME2 we met new people, and I'm sure as hell they would like to join Shepard again. There was no reason to throw them away in ME3 ad their excuses for not joining Shepard are far-fetched. Miranda is the best example, I'd also say that Thane wouldn't like to wait in the hospital for death, but this is not the place for such discussion.

I didn't even make mention of other fanbases, except for that one reference.

I'm also not insulting them.

In this case, no. Note that I said "fans" and not "fanbases".

Case in point, Tali. Wasn't going to be a squadmate at first, but due to outcry at this revelation, it was decided against and she was put on the team for ME3.

Bioware actively opposed their own logic for 1 character because people were complaining about her presence.

Lol, I remember exactly how the Miranda fans acted when it was revealed that she wasn't going to be a squadmate.

Don't act like any group was more or less whiny than the rest.

Tali is a freaking admiral. She should not be on the Normandy or the front lines. Miranda had every reason to be on the Normandy and fighting Cerberus.

Their reaction isn't relevant. My point being Bioware's blatant disregard for their own reasoning.

In regards to your 2nd point, way to blow my posts out of context.
