I've been having a hard time trying to see what i have purchased for this game back when it was released, i want to get new content, but of course i dont want to double up, so how can i see what i have purchased?

are you talking about on xbox live?
if so, then you simply click on the dlc and if it says download again then you have purchased it, you can also look at your download history which is in one of the sections in the settings area can't rememeber where exactly.

On the BSN menu on the left mouse over My Games and click on Your registered game content. On the page that comes up you will see all of the content you have purchased, in addition to any download instructions if applicable.
