Garrus: Together we can stop the Catalyst. We don't have to submit to the Reapers. We can beat them!
Shepard: I no longer believe that Garrus. The visions cannot be denied. The Reapers are too powerful. The only hope of survival is to join with them. The Catalyst is an AI. It thinks like an AI. If I can prove my value, I become a resource, worth maintaining. There is no other logical conclusion.
Garrus: You were a Spectre. You swore to protect the galaxy. Then you broke that vow to save yourself.
Shepard: I'm not doing this for myself. Don't you see, the Catalyst will succeed. It is inevitable. My way is the only way any of us will survive. I'm forging an alliance between us and the Reapers, between organics and machines, and in doing so, I will save more lives than have ever existed. But you would undo my work. You would doom our entire civilization to complete annihilation, and for that, you must die.
Garrus: They Catalyst hasn't won yet. We can stop it from taking over. Step aside and the invasion can be stopped.
Shepard: We Can't stop it ! Not forever. You've seen what they can do. The Catalyst is too powerful !
Garrus: Some part of you must still realize this is wrong! You can fight this!
Shepard: Maybe you are right. Maybe there is still a chance for...... agggg. The catalyst is too strong. I am sorry, it is too late for me.
Garrus: Its not over yet. You can still redeem yourself !
Shepard: Goodbye Garrus, thank you !

I don't agree with Vigil. From the moment I first met Sovereign, I wanted to understand what the Reapers were and what their purpose was. One reason was for pure curiosity. The other was for strategy; if I could understand them, then I might be able to defeat them, or convince them to stop. I always believed that ME3 would end with a conversation with the Reapers, and that Shepard would have to make a big decision.
That's like wanting to understand Sauron.
Tell me, are there any allies you agree with?

Yeah, I would like to understand Sauron. But Sauron was intended to be "pure evil". ME3 confirms that the Reapers are not pure evil.
As for my allies, yeah, I agree with them that the harvest must end. I don't want to be harvested by the Reapers. And I love the characters of the ME universe. Mordin is actually one of my favorites.

The only source for the Reapers not being pure evil is the Reapers themselves. That's no different than believing that Sauron isn't pure evil, just because he said so (if he had).

I should note that Dragon Age has done something similar with the darkspawn. I just accepted them as pure evil in Origins, but Awakening surprised me with the introduction of the Architect. So now the darkspawn are not as simple as I once believed.
does this alter their actions?

The Catalyst believes that it has saved life in the Milky Way. Maybe it's wrong, maybe it's right. But it didn't harvest for the evil lulz. It was assigned a purpose by its creators, and it interpreted that purpose in a certain way. The whole thing is an unfortunate cosmic accident.

The Architect wants to end the Blights because he views it as an utter waste of life for all races.

but the blight still happened. lots of dead and transformed people everywhere.
the same in mass effect. it may not want to kill people - only preserve them. but this does not alter the events and outcome. dead people and mindwashed killing machines everywhere.

Mordin is wrong. The dogma he is presenting is wrong.
So our allies are wrong and the Reapers are right?
Of course. Have you not played ME3?
All the times the Reapers rounded up civilians and put them into extermination camps? When the Collectors were liquefying people? When the Reapers were subverting our governments to manipulate our civilians into doing their bidding?
The "good" guys.

depends on the accident, let's ask the Leviathan, see if they know the great mysteries of this..

You'll notice that the (last) Blight is also 100% his fault. He says as much. It's a self-fulfilling prophecy, just like the Catalyst and Reapers.

... What? It only harvests advanced organic life, and for the purpose of preventing a singularity that could doom all organic life to everlasting obscurity.
