Nope. Peoples choice awards and all that jazz. It's really just the BSN.

lol
Silent majority eh?

Yes actually.

Funny how some majoritys decide to remain silent and accept being represented by the same 4-5 individuals.

That goes both ways.

Really? Beside you, Seival, Brovvik, Siran and Kotoreffect, who else is there?  Your  the definition of a vocal minority.

"Hurt" may be putting it a bit strongly, but I'm certainly still disappointed, confused and concerned about the future of the franchise. I'm not gonna go about claiming majorities or anything like that, but I'm sure the people who still have similar feelings is not insignificant.

Also pretty much everything Ajensis said; it's hard for me to get enthusiastic with the lack of communication from Bioware and the fragmented nature of this fanbase, the sheer bloody arrogance, idiocy and mean-spiritness of some people really getting on my wick.

Pfft. This topic assumes the Majority of the community thought ME3 was a Debacle and was somehow hurt by it. Instead of just hyperbole and overreaction by some.

Don't know about majority there was never any conclusive data on that one way or the other, but yes there are people who are still unhappy about how ME3 turned out.

I'm still hurt by it. One year later.

I'd imagine that since nearly every thread in the ME3 forums is somehow related to the endings, I'd guess that the majority of ME fans on the BSN are still upset.

People I know who aren't as passionate fans were upset. They told me they have no interest in ME4 after BW's ending.

Most of the people I know who were upset at the OE were more or less mollified by the EC, but they have all said that ME3 taught them a valuable lesson to judge a game by it's own merits, not by hype, developer, or franchise.

Both of you stop this dumb argument nobody has any proof in who is the minority or the majority unless you quized everyone who played ME3

I can't speak for the Mass Effect or BSN community, but I know I don't really care any more. I'm certainly not "hurt" by it. I'd be lying if I said I didn't feel that way for quite a while, though.

That being said, I don't look at the endings any differently than I did almost a year ago. I still think they're bad.

In the end, the only way to gauge how well ME3 hurt the franchise is to look at sales for ME4.

It's not a perfect way to look at it, but depending on sales, it might show that people don't trust EA or BW anymore.

DLC sales are relatively inconclusive right now. Some sites say that the latest dlc is the biggest selling, some say that every dlc since LotSB has been a failure.

I have to admit...
Yes I'm still hurt. Fortunately some talented guys (thx at Mr.Fob for MEHEM) are helping me out.

I'm more disappointed with BioWare, at first I was shocked, and it in a few days my shock turned to hate.

All these months later, I've given up, and have hardly any faith in BioWare anymore.

I also can't stand the small hive of Drones on these forums with their "amazing bioware sorty, 2deep4u" crap.

Am I hurt still? The answer is no, I'd say at this point I am more apathetic then anything else. They mention a new DLC the first thing that goes through my head is that it's going to be over hyped and overpriced just like Omega was, They mention a new game I wonder how badly they will screw it up cause they would rather create a "work of art" as they see it instead of making a game that people will like.

I suppose the best way to sum up my feelings about the endings now is....

Meh!

It's about the best expression of disinterest I can muster. At the time, I hated them. Now...just...meh!

That also sums up my feelings towards Bioware in general now. I haven't played ME3 since that first run through, haven't bought any of the DLC and don't plan to buy this latest effort unless I hear (after release) that it is fantastic. Likewise with ME4 when it appears.

Once bitten, twice shy, and all that.

Yes, it still affects me that the last title of my favorite series turned out to be meh. Not only the ending, but the whole game.

This is happening everywhere now, not just Mass Effect.

I rented Colonial Marines, and boy was it a stinker. And I'm not even a casual fan of the franchise. I have the barest knowledge of that story and it sucked balls.

And the head of Gearbox is expressing contempt at longtime fans who felt cheated by their crap.

The intelligent answer is that not one person can be sure. BSN was in an uproar but really only represents the more vocal and outgoing crowd.

Me personally, I think the whole thing was blown way out of proportion and felt almost ashamed to call myself a fan listening to some of the others. However I was deeply impressed how Bioware responded. They worked hard, listened to our feedback and gave us the Extended Cut at their expense. I won't say post-EC endings are great or anything but it's a freaking video game and I've had worse letdowns, so I moved past it.

For the majority of last year I played one game consistently throughout, because I enjoyed playing. I'm not saying it's perfect or without faults, but without a doubt my Game of the Year was Mass Effect 3, no contest. I love this game, this series and I'm eager to see where Bioware takes it next.

On one final note, it's a video game. People need to stop taking things so seriously.

Never really was in the first place. Though I was a bit upset that all those hours...years of playing were for nothing. Quickly got over it.

How did it affect you - in retrospect?
How do you feel about ME4 and buying future DLC or ME games in general?

In retrospect? Nothing has changed, Mass Effect 3 has shown me the path Bioware has chosen to take and I'm not going to follow them.

Nearly 70,000 people joined a facebook group protesting the ending in the first month after release.

Something like $70,000 was donated to charity in protest.

An entire community based around being watchdogs for gamers against shady business practices rose from the ending debacle.

I'm not over it. I'd like to be over it and in fact it would be admittedly easy to get over it if Shepard got the send-off he deserved, but BW has decided that having Shepard be happy is against their 'art'.

Yes it's a game. And yes, it's an integral part of my life. I gladly call my devotion to video games a cornerstone of who I am. Along with my military service, along with my devotion to education, along with my political and private beliefs, along with Star Wars, along with Halo, along with Chuck, Dexter, and Dr. Who. Mass Effect is a part of me.

@ Wazzuman:

People read books and look at paintings all their life, and no one calls them out.

I really dislike it when people are like "it's just a game."

A lot of people I know here who either liked ME3 or thought it was just OK don't bother dropping by these boards much.. when I see them they're over on the DA3 board or in OT.

But I guess you could say that they're part of the Bio community rather than the ME community. I wouldn't call myself a part of an ME community either. For me ME was always nothing more than a pretty good RPG series. About mid-level for Bio, with some good ideas and some not-so-good ones.

I would just like to go on the record as saying that I enjoyed bashing the ending when it consisted mostly of laughing at how dumb it was and cracking jokes at the series' expense, like with the Penny Arcade comic. When people got serious, any possible fun to be had from mocking the ending got sucked out of the fandom and suffocated like Shepard was in the opening of ME2. Thanks for killing the humour, guys.

It still makes me a little sad sometimes when I think about it and what Mass Effect 3 could have been. Beyond that, though, I've come to terms.
