February 20th at 6PM EST

Sony's big event in NYC is widely expected to showcase the unveiling of the next Playstation and formally kick off nextgen consoles.

The event will be livestreamed by Sony and probably a ton of other video games sites. So what do you hope to see at this event? As the first reveal of nextgen consoles, what do you expect to see/hear about? What are you excited about or worried about? What games do you want or expect to see?

Even though I do most of my gaming on PC, I'm still excited to see some proper nextgen games. And if anything, this likely means the floodgates start to open on more news about other nextgen games.

Edit:
Specs of the PS4:

Dualshock 4 controller:

Other neat system info- the console has a lowered power state that can be initiated or cancelled with a press of a button on the controller, whether you're in game or not. If you initiate it in game, your game data is saved in the system memory.

Game related stuff:
  • KillZone Shadow Fall announced for launch:
  • New racing game called DriveClub revealed
  • inFamous: Second Son revealed
  • Capcom showed off their new engine, showing off  a new game codenamed "Deep Down." Had a Dragon's Dogma/ Dark Souls vibe to it. (Video here)
  • Square Enix announced they'd be showing off a new Final Fantasy for PS4 at E3
  • Watch_Dogs will be a PS4 launch game (new gameplay video)
  • Diablo 3 is coming to PS4 and PS3
  • Bungie's Destiny game will be coming to PS4
Playstation 4 is coming "Holiday 2013."

Outside of Dragon Age: Inquisition and Fallout 4, none in particular for Next-Gen come to mind. David Gage has been seen running around the event, so I'd like to take a look at how Beyond: Two Souls is turning out. Of the next-gen consoles, PS4 is the only thus far that has my interest. Wii-U doesn't hold anything on its library at the moment that intrigues me, and I'd rather not take chances with the New Red Ringer until its hardware stability is verified(or it gets one hell of an exclusive).

I'm really curious if Sony is going to mention any used game prevention methods in their introduction of the console (though I'd doubt it), since they did get the patent on the RF tracker hardware that would tag games and wouldn't let them be played on other consoles.

I'd need to hear more info, but I dislike the PSN and apparently Sony's certification process for both games and DLC is harder than it needs to be for the PS3, so assuming that stands, I'll try and go elsewhere. And if MS releases the next XBox with crazy anti-used-game policies as well, I may reluctantly be forces to join the PC Master Race.

Unless... of course... the Ouya turns out to be awesome.

Curious about what will be announced tomorrow, but very skeptical about this and the new XBox. Internet only connection and/or used game prohibition will equate to a no buy for me.

Instantly. And I'm not joking around.

I don't really have any preference one way or the other between Sony or MS since I don't have a 360 or PS3 and I'm not tied to Live or PSN.

So from that perspective and everything I've read, Sony looks a little nicer than what's been leaked about MS's next console. The PS4 seems a little more powerful and has some interesting things going on with Gaikai and cloud gaming and from what I've read they seem to have gotten their act together with PSN.

Apparently GameStop's CEO saw Battlefield 4 today, so maybe that shows up at the Sony event tomorrow?

I could see EA giving Sony some DLC exclusivity period like MS has been doing with CoD.

Curtain rises, giant screen begins to warm up.

Giant Troll Face adorns screen.

Conference over.

I know it won't happen but you have to admit that would be funny as all hell if it did.

I agree with this. Tbh for this gen, I was on 360 the whole time.  ME1 was the sole reason I purchased a xbox years ago. Glad to know the ME trilogy isn't exclusive anymore. Before that, I was on PS2-1. And N64.

But for Gen 8, I'm going back to Sony!  PS4 here I come!  My Mass is so Erect!!

Oh yeah, forgot about that rumor.  Was said by IGN and every other site.  That is one thing that will ****** off many gamers.  If MS and Sony implement this "anti-used games" ID lock.  I may not buy.. You can no longer borrow a friends copy.  Or purchase used games at GameStop etc.

Plain greedy IMO.  The industry made so much money already even with used games market.  Its been like that for every console.  Hope this isn't the end of that.

This and I'm interested in how the PS4 will deal with pre-owned and digital games. That's the only issue I have that is rumoured to be involved in the next gen consoles.

I doubt that they'll market any such anti used game or always online feature as such though. They'll try to spin it in some innovative and positive light. Just look at Bugie's new game Destiny- its an always online FPS MMO sort of game. So I'm guessing just more and more games will require you to be always online for whatever reason. Same with SimCity coming up on PC- a previously single player offline game franchise thats having dubious always online aspects pushed.

Anyway, I doubt we'll hear much about that sort of thing today.

I'll be curious to see how Battlefield 4 looks if only since its a Frostbite 2 game on nextgen, not unlike Dragon Age 3.

Does this stream skip and pause sometimes for everyone else?

That Knack game looks funny.

Edit: I haven't noticed any pausing or skipping, but the quality of the stream dropped during the game trailer.
