The
no-backwards-compatibility is an issue and will probably persuade
people to hold on to their old consoles longer or switch to a platform
that has no compatibility issues.

I wouldn't be surprised if the next Xbox also doesn't have backwards compatability.

I suspect as much. I can't understand why they'd do this since it can only harm them.

It's simple why backwards compatibilty is not included: nobody buys a next-gen console to play older games.

And if this Gaikai thing achieve their full objective, most of the library of old games will be available on PSN.

True, BUT, it's pretty nice to be able to play the favorites from the old gens without having to switch consoles.
Less wires, less button pushing, less getting up from chair :P
I would've loved to be able to play Suikoden 5 on my PS3, becaus my PS2(s) doesn't work properly anymore and I don't have the money to buy a "new" one.

So what does the PC experts have to say about it? (Not the fanboys, your opinions doesn't matter).

QFT

I actually bought a Wii, with the knowledge that I could still play my Gamecube games. The same counted for the PS3 with the older PS2 and PSX games. Sometimes you wanna go back and play those old games.

It seems to resemble my own rig but I can't be sure unless I know more about the CPU and the GPU.

8 gigs of ram and core numbers are as much of an information as saying this Porsche is red and has scissor doors.

We don't have how to compare it to a high end PC yet because we don't know which "highly enhanced PC GPU" our x86 processor they're using.

The 8 GB of RAM is level with a good gaming PC but not high end.

If I was Sony I would create a method to validate your older games in this new Gaikai streaming service that will have the library of older PS games.

This is true, I bought the Gamecube edition of Ocarina of Time after I bought a wii because I knew it would still work. As it is Sony and possibly MS are encouraging slow take up of their consoles because the games I'm not done playing won't be playable on a new system.

I heard a rumor that the x86 CPU runs at 1.6 GHZ, but you can't believe everything you read.

No that extra ram is certainly going to be used for the social media stuff they are integrating and not the games themselves.

I don't know about other games but the only game I've gotten close to using 3gb's with was sims 3 with all of the expansions.  That's the most RAM intensive game I own.

Crysis 3 has that as one of the recommended requirements. However that is crysis and that is to be expected of that game, its like the developers want to blow up computers or something.

Awesome, more social media stuff!

Hey Sony, until it's not the holodeck, you aren't pushing the envelope forward. Gotta love all the PR speak.

Well, they have to sell it. Like any luxury periphery item, they have to get up on stage and yammer on about how great it is despite the fact it's already outdated..

If they were smart they would wait until e3, have the whole show to themselves and have some months to make last minute changes.

Infamous and Killzone, two series that I love. If these are launch day releases, then I am interested. PS is the only non-PC gaming I do.

Hopefully the E3 stream won't be as laggy as the PS4 stream was :P
