For people who doesn't know no PC has DDR 5 , They use DDR 3 at best - only GPU's have DDR 5 and is the reason why Graphics cards costs so much.

I have no idea how expensive GDDR5 is, but the price difference between a 1 Gig and a 2 Gig GDDR5 AMD HD 7850 is somewhere around 40 euros. Real cost will be a fraction of that - I doubt 8 gigs of GDDR5 will cost 320 euros. However, I wouldn't be surprised if this either pushes the PS4 price to a 'okay, but I'll wait another 2 years / buy an Xbox / Steambox / Dell X51' level, or that Sony will swallow a substantial additional loss on every PS4 that they sell (at least for a number of years).

It kind of seems like Sony is hoping for a miracle - Both Nvidia and AMD has spent millions trying to lower the production cost of GDDR 5 but in 5 years the cost have only lowered 5% ...so i guess that Sony is just taking a leap of faith in hoping that that the prices will drop radically or something.

Most of the cost lies in the GPU itself, though...
I tried to make a guesstimate of the 'retail value' of the PS4's parts. Minus mobo, psu, cpu, controller (so basically just the gpu - assuming a 7850 equivalent - the GDDR5, bluray and a 500 gig HDD) I came up with around 550 euros.
Real cost will be less than that, but the other parts will have to be added to the total.
The 429 / 529 price level rumour becomes credible, assuming a subsidized piece of hardware. But I wouldn't be surprised if it ends up to be 499 / 599 either (if the earlier rumour of 4 gigs are true, the 8 gig may have been a relatively late decision to 'upstage' Microsoft - but with consequences for the PS4's eventual price).
The NeoGAF thread seems to be dominated by three sentiments: 'Wow!', 'Sony is freaking insane' and 'Ooh boy, this is going to be expensive'.

I don't even know what game that is. Sorry. But this is what posters do in the 1000+ page Skyrim Thread. They post screen shots and talk about their characters with people who play the game too. This happens in every forum on this site. People share their Wardens, Hawkes, and Shepards. So now it can happen easily on the console. I just don't understand why some people complain about it.bmwcrazy wrote...
Because I have no use for those rather nerdy features.
Most of my real life friends don't play games and those who do, play them on PC.
However, if you liked to befriend me on PSN, I wouldn't mind sharing my precious PS3 in-game moments with you.

We can say we are approaching that plateau when our content creation workflows and our technology are routinely able to produce photorealism throughout a whole game. That is, gameplay which is visually indistinguishable from real actors on real sets.
We are not near that point yet.

Yea, because that's what's important lol. DDR5 RAM is significantly faster than DDR3, I will give you that, but for example my PC has 32GB of RAM whereas PS4 is only 8 GB.
Nevermind the fact that PS4 is still gonna use outdated CPU, outdated graphic card and it will not support PS3 games or savegames made on PS3. And this is right when it hits the store. Within a year, it will be a complete laughing stock for a proper PC, once again.
Not to mention disk space, PS4 will be lucky to hit 1TB, and that's nothing.
Just another console..i.e. a small box you can't even open and adjust to your liking. A product vastly inferior to a gaming PC in every way. Nothing new.

the memory size means **** if the GPU is a bottleneck. They better include at least a 570 or equivalent in this thing, otherwise the bottleneck will be too much to bear.
The point is upgrading memory is so cheap and easy. I myself installed another 4 GB ram on my PC few days ago and all I spent was around 20$.

Windows 7 and your other programs do use between 1 to 2.5 GB of your memory. Simply All that remains is on the boundaries between running smoothly or here and there low fps moments while running a huge game.
There is an Ultra texture mod for New Vegas that its creator claims it needs 8 GB ram to run smoothly. Considering insufficiency of 4 GB ram. I can say it at least needs 6 GB of ram.
