Please don't discuss or encourage software piracy in our forums. THat's a real fast way to get the thread locked. And talking so much about downloading any unauthorized software product counts, so let's please get back on topic and stop spreading misinformation. Thanks.

Nice copy/paste.

What I don’t see you doing is addressing this situation.

I don’t mean to seem rude, but you guys are really FUBARing this RTO DLC release, and now you have this OTHER situation, the situation which can not be named.  ((and the dead mans chest.))

I mean; first you just give a blanketed PR report in the 11th hour  on the day that the DLC was to be released. Now I’m no game programmer, hell I work in a book store, BUT I know enough to know that ether your, “BUG” was known about long before the 11th hour, and you guys did not let us know in time to save some of us from going out and spending 5-20 bucks to be able to get the DLC. OR the problem has nothing to do with the DLC and everything to do with the delivery system.

Another way you could have handled it was. . . HUM tell us about this bug?

What does it do?
Why was it not until moments before the DLC was to be released that we where not told of its delay? I’m sorry I have a hard time believing that you guys didn’t know at least a day or so in advanced.

Look;

There comes a point in time where you begin to insult your customers, delays are one thing, but keeping why that delay is, can be taken as an insult, and saying that there’s a bug, but we wont say any more on it, you might as well said.

“ We have a bug, but you guys are to stupid to understand that it make your X-box or PC explode, so we wont bother explaining it to you. “

And now you have this “breach in the chain of custody” and its being shown bug free? Why?

You say its not what you intended but lets be honest, for the sake of fairness, and civility shall we? Other than some achievements, and a few items, what would be different? I don’t see you totally re-vamping the entire plot, doing new voice work, and adding new cinematics, and areas, in the span of a few days, well now were looking at weeks so I guess you never know.

Point being, you are avoiding any responsibility to you customers who mind you have paid for a product, you have failed to deliver on time, and as our money sets making EA/Bioware or Microsoft more money, we are left holding the empty bag with nothing to show for it, but an IOU.

The least you can do is be honest, and upfront about what’s wrong if there’s a bug, than what does it do? If you guys just didn’t want to compete with bayonetta and darksiders than say so. If Fred just out of the academy, and one day from retirement, hit delete, and not send and fried the DLC and now you guys have nothing, and are crunching to put something out in the delayed time. . . Than this may be an odd concept. . .  say it.

Look all I’m saying is, I’m seeing a lot of avoid and ban because bioware does not  like being called out, and your hiding behind rules because you don’t have an answer to why this has happened..

:wizard: Remember the more you know, the more you grow.

How does this even compete with bayonetta or darksiders? Those games are not even on most RPG player's radars.

What really surprised me about Stanleys' comment is that he refers to that which shall not be named as "spreading misinformation". Orly? Wouldn’t misinformation be denying its existence?... somewhat like we've been instructed to do?

I find this whole situation very confusing.

I think what stanley can do is to define what misinformation is so we can learn not to step on the landmines.

It's unfortunate but does appear that an earlier version leaked.  As with anything digital, at some point we have to put the content live on servers to test portions of it.

I haven't looked at it personally so I couldn't tell you how complete is the version out there.  What I can say is that since we've still been working on it, whatever is out there isn't final.

As for talking about the issue that delayed it - what would be the point?  So folks who 'must know' can then add their professional commentary as to whether they thought the content was in fact good enough to launch in their opinion?

It was obviously important for us, what else is there to know?

Same release window.

If your on the PC yeah sure that’s true. But if your say on the X-box like me, than you play a little of everything, since there are really not that many good RPG’s on the Xbox360.

I would see this being more of a Microsoft/Sony call, more so than Biowere, but with nothing to go on, anything could be the reason.

Are you just thinking we are just too stupid to understand...or we should be treated as children? All we ask is a simple answer that isn't something completely copied and pasted to save your butts. People already bought points last year waiting for this DLC to have it delayed twice on them. Then when we want to know something...we either get the same answer....like we are retarded. Then we are told by another that we are going to be treated like children...thanks a lot. If there is something out there...no no not if...there IS...because it does not take a rocket scientist to find it and actually point it out to you...there is no ands, ifs or buts about it....there is something out there that is absolutely bug free...and seems to be fine...and people are playing it.
So in other words...those who are waiting patiently are getting spat on by the company because it just seems the company doesn't care. Sorry if it sounds rude but a lot of people feel like this.

Finally an answer :) Is there any chance that after it's released we get an idea of what the changes you made were ? Not that we MUST know but it's cool to know that the waiting did indeed make the DLC more awesome. In a way like what you have "patched" from the leaked content.

So basically it gives us something to wave in front of the pirates and say "See your version SUCKS!"

I think the worst part in this whole situation is that the people who support Bioware and refuse to resort to "that which shall not be named" are the people being burned at the moment.

Those who do have the forbidden fruit are happily sitting under the apple tree eating their treats; the rest of us are left waiting. Is Bioware even tracking those people who have unlocked content before it's released? Probably not. Will they take any action what-so-ever? Probably not. Is there any tangible benefit for staying loyal to Bioware at this point?

I sure hope so.

I think you would be surprised on how well, as a good faith move that would be.

Companies like Bungie, I’m sure you know there little games called Halo 1,2,and 3, ODST, and Reach. Have done this time after time. Granted not so much with a delay, though I can’t remember them having even one.  They do talk about bugs in the game, even to the point of making jokes about them.

What would it do? Hum well as you see it adding fuel, I see a PR move that would make people go;

“Oh, well as much as seeing my xbox explode form a piece of DLC would be fun and all, but  I would rather not deal with this issue, since a new xbox is 200 buck.”

People are more willing to give you slack when they understand the situation, sure you will have that guy that think they know everything about programming games, and will tell you what you messed up, and who knows maybe one of them will be right.

Look I’m just saying, I work retail and you would be surprised at just how public relations that job is, and being upfront and explaining what happens in detail has never let me down, people understand and though they are miffed about what is happening, as long as they know there not getting screwed there happy.

So, an early version leaks, people download it, manage to play and finish it, boast about it, and seems like everything is there - so your answer is to complain that therefore the real thing MUST also be ready?!

Do you really believe that we just prefer to hold on to it for some reason?  To lose further sales, perhaps?  Or maybe because we enjoy upsetting our legitimate customers and long time fans?  Or we should instead begin to set our release dates by warez dates regardless of what state the game is in?

If you're upset, how do you think we feel?

As always, we're trying to be as forthcoming about it as we can.  You are of course entitled to believe what you want.  But complaining that we've not released something that we don't feel is ready, and are continuing to put work into, just because an earlier version happened to leak is a tad upsetting.

I feel for you guys. I really do. Not that you'll say one way or the other, but I have a feeling it was a marketing decision that's left you, the developers, with an almighty ****-storm. WHY marketing would have done this exactly is beyond me, but it's the only reason I can think of. From everything I've read, the leaked version of RtO is complete and whole. There doesn't appear to be any content unfinished or bugged to the average Jack Sparrow... so...

...yeah, I can see this being a clear problem between the people who actually make the content, and those who promote it.

An early version or not, an answer other than...we are looking into it and everything else would be by far better...that is like telling us to shut up. You might be angry that someone leaked your DLC...and bragged that there is not one problem with it...we are pissed that we are sitting here waiting for an answer and we are treated like children.
I remember when NcSoft did this to people who were playing Aion, suddenly...people just left. Treating your customers like they are morons is the wrong thing to do...and then when we complain about something tell us we are children and we are going to be treated as such is wrong as well. We want answers, not answers that cover your behinds either. I've been asking for answers since the last thread and got told by other players of this single player game that I don't deserve answers. I believe not only I but those who say I don't and everyone else deserve an answer as to what the big problem is with the DLC that not only delayed it once but twice. Like someone said before, not answering lets our minds wander and come up with these random things and no one tells us other wise. Also, it would not be the first time a company holds back something to make a few extra bucks on something else. What about ME2?? People are already saying they cancelled it because of what has happened here and people say they might not buy the DLC just to play ME2. Are you guys just waiting for ME2 to come out before you even mention this DLC again...?

I was as disappointed as anyone by the delay. Part of the reason for my disappointment is that this was obviously going to account for a loss in sales. That was just obvious. So I'm sure BioWare didn't want to see it delayed.

I still wish they would have warned us more in advance, though. That is my only real complaint. Delaying products for undisclosed bugs is FINE. But doing it hours before the products supposed release while using a system that has many people paying in ADVANCE for the product is NOT fine.

But hopefully we'll see it soon (I'm on the BioWare site bright and early this morning for a reason, y'know). Because as time goes on, potential sales are being lost, which potentially means less incentive for BioWare to make more, future DLC. But I'm sure BioWare knows all this. I just hope they don't let their bungling of this particular DLC affect their desire to make more.

And who cares about "the pirates"? "The pirates" get a lot of content for free, earlier than the rest of us. And just because some pirates say something is bug-free doesn't mean anything. They could have just not found the bug, or they could just be lying to rub it in to us legit customers - which is something they do love to do.

I want to say Fernando thank you for the forthright, honest, and from the heart comments you have put forth here tonight. I know you guys are in a tough position with everything. That said I wish you guys would have come forward like this in the beginning instead of putting for the beginning PR statements that were vague, and just seemed copy and pasted , and were copy and pasted many times as a explanation. The last time I saw such black ops PR was the Bush administration.

Bottom line if you and the others just came forward with real information, and heart felt feelings like you just did tonight. There would not of been near the amount of anger , and such. You would have found that most of us would have just waited patiently, and most of the conspiracy theories would have never come to be.

Thank you again for taking the time to chat on here, and as I said in my earlier post on here. I'm past my anger about this. I may not buy RTO when it first comes out because I may be plaing something else at that point but I will get it at some point.:)

We -are- working on it.  We're communicating that as much as we are able to.  It is in the final stages of testing as of end of day today.  We're close.  Why, or how, does that make you feel like you are being treated like a child?  Being upset, I can certainly understand - and share the sentiment.

I'm not saying that you guys are not upset, or even that your holding back just to ****** us off, bugs happen, **** happens, it’s life.

I’m saying you could be going about all of this a lot better.

The PR on this is lacking, and its being blown out of proportion, because of your radio silence.

And than you expect the fan base to not wonder why when this happens, like it can be brushed under the carpet and forgotten.

The cats out of the bag, and the other shoe has hit the floor, so to say.

This isn’t just about RTO, its about DAO:A and MassEffect 2, and there DLC it’s a bigger pitcher type thing in which, the whole of the company is under the looking glass, and not just one team. We want to know that giving you are money is worth it, your games are kick ass, and I love them, if I didn’t I wouldn’t be here ****ing.

You can look at this both ways, you can look at it as fans ****ing, or as a show of just how loyal your fan base is.

Love the game and its been a boon during the past few weeks while I'm getting over the pig flu. Was I annoyed at the delay, yes, I paid for my points ahead of time but I know that they are still there. As long as they don't raise the price I'm fine. If I finish the game before the DLC comes out not big deal either as I plan to replay it as another class. But I will say this, its best to get it out before another great game comes out or you will lose sales of those who have moved on to the new shiny.  :)

We've been called children...but then again, if that is all you can say to us about the DLC...fine, I'll take it. I find no point in trying to justify or argue much of anything especially 4:26 in the morning. It took me 3 seconds to find the leaked DLC, as tempted as I am to download it...I won't. I'll be sitting here waiting, seething in my own anger that I got screwed for buying points all the way in Dec....at least they don't take away points for every week it is sitting there.
