Now to pose a question that should hopefully not be anywhere near inflammatory. What impacts (if any) will the RtO delay have on the development and release of future DLC? I'm not necessarily talking about procedural changes but whether or not this might significantly delay or hamper other projects further down the pipeline or will there be very little impact (perhaps additional staff/resources will be allocated to future projects)?

The only thing I'm curious about is why there is so much obscurity around this "issue" that popped up. I scratch my head wondering why Bioware can't simply explain the problem to the public rather then ducking corners and being as ambiguous as possible. Problems come up, pretty much everyone understand that it it's a part of life but why they simply don't say "___ and ___ weren't up to our standards and we are working hard to bring them up to our standards" I don't understand. There is no real harm that can stem from it and it would help put a lot of this nonsense and conspiracy to bed.

Fernando can answer your questions (I would direct you to the sticky community thread, in fact, where he has answered many questions already). I am not here to address RtO issues, and as I am not part of the DLC team I couldn't aswer your questions even if I wanted to.

As for "Discursion" whether or not he makes a valid point isn't the issue. Some people apparently can't seperate their opinions from their behavior. If you can state your opinion without being insulting and inflammatory, then you are free to post -- and there are several examples of that already here, so this shouldn't be rocket science. If you think you can state your opinion however rudely you wish, and that everyone should simply ignore your behavior because you think you have a point, then we have a problem.

We are civilized adults here. Or so I would assume. Thanks for your attention.

As Mr. Gaider has stated, he is not part of the RtO team and cannot comment on that.  (You can make your own mind up as to whether he is secretly twirling his moustache while withholding information, or just doesn't want to get in crap for leaking information or mabe he just doesn't KNOW).

From Fernand Melo, however:  "...it's something that was serious enough that we felt it impacted the
quality [of the DLC] and we made the choice to delay it to give our fans the best experience with it. That was the reason behind [the delay] -- we want to make sure that we don't cut any corners when we do the DLC."

I also read somewhere where he specifically says it was not due to microsoft, but damned if I can find the link.   If I do I will edit it in here.

Edit:  Oh sure DG, steal my thunder by like 12 seconds. :crying:

Second Edit: As promised, Fernando Melo coments on the delay not being the fault of micrsoft.

Fernando Melo: No, it has nothing to do with platforms themselves. It's a quality issue where, literally, at the last  minute, we spotted something that had made it through our own testing, EA's testing and was at Microsoft  already. But it applies to all three platforms; it wasn't something specific to Microsoft, we just happened to catch it there first. We probably could have gone with it, but it's  something that was serious enough that we felt it  impacted the quality [of the DLC] and we made the choice to delay it to give our fans the best experience with it. That was the reason behind [the delay] -- we want to make sure that we don't cut any corners when we do the  DLC. There's already a lot of content out, there's a lot more coming -- we just announced the expansion pack, and there's more coming after that. I think the worst thing we could do after that is do anything "to poison the well," to use the expression, or put fans off from feeling that they're getting the best content from us. It's a long term decision instead of a short term decision.

Because if they flat out told us there was a problem with the quest where Duncan comes back as a Darkspawn (a Duncspawn if you will) and that you wont get credit for killing him, then they'd be spoiling it for you.

Protip: Duncan doesnt actually come back as a Duncspawn (well, he might, I havent played the DLC, so I cant actually say), I was just using that as an example

Maybe THAT is the problem! He came back as a Duncspawn when he wasnt supposed to, and he's unstoppable!

This whole scenario is funny. I wonder how many of those upset by the delay are the same that would whinge and moan, "Don't they bloody well test these things before they release them?!" when they ran into the "issue."

Most of them, of course.  Bioware should unleash the Duncspawn on them:bandit:

You don't need to give play by play steps of the quest that's broken to state the foundation of the problem. "One of the quests are broken, a trigger wouldn't always fire when it was supposed to so we have to fix it up." Or "We have a continutity error with the lore, have to rewrite and re-record a a few lines of dialouge then send it through testing." No harm, no spoilers, and the question is still answered.

I dont think I've ever once complained about finding a bug in a game. First bug I ever found was MissingNo in Pokemon, and ever since I've always thought bugs were fun to mess around with

Blizz actually added a tank sword called "Slayer of the Lifeless" with the same model as the sword of a thousand truths. It even has the flavor text "Foretold by Salzman". I used it on my pally for a while :D

Are you a totally seperate part from the DLC stuff or do you get some kinda input to the story and lore they seem to expand on?
Also it is just my wild speculation but would you be able to comment on this since I have not find an offcial statment to such. To me it seems that the DLC are being used to expand on what is there allready. The world, setting, lore etc etc etc and that the expansions will continue some sort or form of the story of DAO forward?
As a follow up... waffles what are your feelings on them? Inquiring minds would like to know :)

Key mistake here is assuming that we are civilized adults, lol. People really do have some anger issues that's for sure. But anyways, the delay does suck but I do agree with the point made in a post way back there somewhere. If a bug only effects 5% of the people it is still a bug. There is no reason for them to treat them any differently and just say 'screw you guys we're releasing it anyways" as it would be unfair. I can't believe some people are on here still ranting like children not getting their candy. After all, it's just a game add-on, not like your house is on fire and they are the fire department. Besides, this delay is giving me time to work on my new character to get em ready for this dlc. =) I got my microsoft points waiting. Oh, and while I would really like to know the exact reason myself like some others, I can see why it's not released to the public. I've worked tech support for quite a few years and believe me telling people exact details usually just makes it worse. While the people that understand the issue will be like 'ok I can accept that' you will have the other 90% that are hot headed get on here and scream and yell some more. I mean look at all the immature activity you get without saying details. I would hate to see what it would be like if they heard what exactly it was. I can relate with both sides here, but unfortunately there is rarely a common meeting ground in these cases. =\\
