Oh, and while I would really like to know the exact reason myself like some others, I can see why it's not released to the public. I've worked tech support for quite a few years and believe me telling people exact details usually just makes it worse. While the people that understand the issue will be like 'ok I can accept that' you will have the other 90% that are hot headed get on here and scream and yell some more. I mean look at all the immature activity you get without saying details. I would hate to see what it would be like if they heard what exactly it was. I can relate with both sides here, but unfortunately there is rarely a common meeting ground in these cases. =\\\\

To be honest I agree. Sure, revealing the reason won't change the actual release date of RtO but it would put the minds of a lot of "angry" people at ease. Not that Bioware is obliged to provide a clear explanation in any way, shape or form (what has been provided as an explanation is...cryptic at best and leads to even more frustruation and needless speculation) but would be kind of nice if they did. I believe that they have nothing to lose by revealing it and, PR wise at least, a lot to gain. I for one, am quite pleased that Fernando indirectly "revealed" the source of the leak, reasonable people understand that such things happen in the industry and sympathize with the developers and their efforts to provide quality content, although I must admit that I'm not entirely sold on the "bug for a 5% of the users" theory. There are already bugs (or rather "glitches") in the main game since its release (invisible or reappearing Loghain anyone ?) that haven't been patched and aren't show stoppers (though they can be considered as immersion breaking). I just cannot understand why an attempt is being done to polish this 1h long content that much, considering that (in my opinion at least), very similar "issues" remain within the main game that could certainly "require" the extra time. Then again we are probably talking about a different team working on the DLC. Still, my point is, there are...inconsistencies with the arguments provided.

i hope they tell us about this "issue" soon. if its a real serious issue, then we'd probably let it go. on the other hand.. if its just a minor thing, well...

one of the great things about life in general is our ability to adapt, mature, and grow (physically and intellectually) most of the people who are posting here are doing just that moving from anger to acceptance and understanding. most of us stop asking the same questions over and over again after they have been answered and then there are others that think that they are a parrot that only knows one phrase...Silenfurtim...please stop being a parrot!

Your idea of "minor" may not exactly meet eye-to-eye with the idea that the Devs and other Bioware staff may have.

I agree completely with the "5% of people experiencing a bug is a huge issue" statement made a little while ago completely. For example, when one of the patches hit for Wrath of the Lich King in WoW, my older laptop displayed the game with missing textures, objects and so on. No one else I knew had this issue, so I was clearly part of a small fraction of players experiencing such a game-breaking bug, and I wish Blizzard had done something about it; something of theirs didn't jive any longer with my video card (everything displayed fine on my main gaming laptop).

Something like that may be the case with RtO, and it'd be perfectly understandable to have it delayed.

Yes, I'm fairly bummed out that the DLC was delayed again, and yes, I'd like to know more about why (even though it'd change nothing but placate the curiousity of thousands/shut up a lot of whiners). However, I do take solace in the fact that Bioware caught a bug that needed to be removed at the last minute whether some people (if they even knew what it was) could consider it minor or not. It shows that Bioware takes pride in their product and they're not willing to throw it at paying customers bugged, broken or half-butted. If I was in their shoes, being the perfectionist that I am (and knowing I was making a lot of money from paying customers), I wouldn't allow my work out before I felt it was good enough.

Basically... people are going to complain whether something is delayed due to needing improvements, or if it is released and unfinished/bugged. I'd prefer it delayed so that it was better off, instead of paying for it incomplete. I know that irked me to no end when I played WoW; patch day hit, and nothing worked/everything crashed.

Thanks, Bioware, for showing you take pride in the outcome of Dragon Age: Origins, and showing you want everthing good to go for your paying customers, even if you may not have as much information for us as we'd like. ;)

You said that much less insultingly than I was going to.   I am unsure as to whether I should be pleased or upset. :o

SOD: it is ridiculous when you can go to the beginning of a thread and look at the same person post the same stuff over and over...I think the moderators have been extremely gracious with us and we should feel pleased that they are telling us anything...they don't have to give us any of that information at all and then we have rude ones that just continue being hostile and demanding...hell we are lucky that they provide this forum for us to even talk like this...some people are just ungrateful

To Mods and Bioware Devs: Thank you for kicking silly children and for doing your jobs the best that you can. I was disappointed that RtO was delayed, but it doesn't diminish the fact that you all have made an outstanding game and have kept us as up to date as you possibly could. Just keep doing what you do best. It sucks, but any avid gameplayer will suck it up and wait with bated breath for the release.

Thanks.

I wish I could help you. I'm not part of the DLC team, so I can't really answer to its content or the planned release date. These are questions best posed to Fernando on the community update thread.

Are any of the core writers part of the DLC team? Or were most of the additional stories mapped out beforehand?

Little kown fact:  The DLCs are written by taking every third word of every fourth post (chronologically) on these forums.

Expect to see the Duncspawn sometime after Awakening. ;)

Hard to believe because WK would of been about how overly enititled angry children  are fighting against the tyranny of a fascist corporation who are after their waffles and money.

I think some of it might have come up while doing the main story or crafting the world. "here is a interesting bit over here. It does not fit into the main story so we can use it for some future DLC/Expansion" type of thing.
Even if I am right that just might be one of the many ways.

Apologies for this being completely off-topic, but I couldn’t find any recently used Warden’s Keep threads. Has anybody else noticed the crows, or ravens, that hop about in the courtyard of Soldier’s Keep? Do they only appear and follow you about if you have Shale in your party? Is he doomed to be tormented by birds of all kinds? I hope I’m not imagining this, but the thought made me giggle quite a lot, and provided some welcome mirth during this torturous RtO delay...

Sheryl is, though I don't know if that translates to her working on every piece of DLC. Rob Bartel would be the other writer currently on that team, and I think he's a name most of you are familiar with even if he didn't work on Origins.

The most entertaining mentalists are almost always the ones who believe they're being hounded by birds. If Shale returns to Ostagar with your party, will he start seeing Ptarmigans everywhere in the snow and go into a mania?

holy crap on a stick. i can't believe how angry people are. it's a one hour dlc that will be out soon. how so many people are up in arms and full of self entitlement is beyond me. it'll come when it will come. you've been more patient than i would have been, david. if it was me, there'd be about 10 people on 1 week vacations.

I am sure that the reasons for the delay are totally legitimate, but you have to admit that there is a certain level of what appears to be subterfuge going on. It's not that difficult to say, "See there's this part with a rock and with this bug, you get stuck on the rock. Well, about 5% of you will get stuck on the rock. It's really incredibly sticky."

The only reason I can see to be so secretive about the delay is that the issue is something that Bioware felt was important, but the sentiment may not be shared by everyone. Saying why the hold up only opens the can of worm of, "You delayed it for that?"

I was incredibly angry when this whole thing opened up. I really do feel let down and disappointed. I love this game. It is fantastic. Mr. G's books are amazing. I've said it before. I got the books, the shirt with limited edition dlc, collectors edition of the game, soundtrack the first day it came out, even the 30 seconds to mars album just for the DA track that was on it. I AM A FAN. I think everyone here is passionate, maybe overly so, because of their love of the game.

I was just as mad as anyone to begin with, but then I really thought about it. You're lashing out at the very people who crafted the thing you love. Seeing David post so much on this forum really drove it home for me. These people care just as much as you do. They put their lives into the game. Cut everyone some slack here. It's coming. Expansions are coming. Comic books are coming. Your appetites will be satiated. Flipping out at the people who are feeding your hunger only makes you look like an ingrate. We're being "treated like children" because, honestly, a lot of people are acting like children. This community has got to be made up primarily of adults, but you'd hardly know it.

Yes, I'm disappointed. Incredibly so. But, you know, you can't discredit an entire company that's provided nothing but quality product for years because of one mishap. I'm sure they've learned a lot from this ordeal. I think the least the community can learn is patience.
