The dlc does improve the whole DA2 experience and since we must assume that Hawke would have also been the hero of the cancelled dlc as well, maybe the game would have been better thought of with that cancelled dlc finishing up Hawke 's story.

I try not to look at it that way because I still thought it was a good game. It was just a disappointing sequel to what was a masterpiece in Origins. It was rushed, stripped down and the reused environments were laughable. But on the whole, I still had a great time playing it for the story and gameplay, which I felt was fast and flashy in a fun way. I plan to even go back to it and buy the DLC I missed.

It was disappointing, felt more like DA1.5 than DA2. There were good parts but those were lost in a sea of reused areas, awful elves, odd combat, awful mage gear (again) etc,etc it's all been covered before so i wont bore. Story and characters were good though.

Insane and stupid mages who didn't make sense were the crux of the story, so I have to respectfully disagree with you on that point.

I just started a playthrough and I find Chapter 1 to be fun. Then Chapter 2 is a little less and Chapter 3 I lose interest a little at least that's how remember it.

I didn't care for Jade Empire either. They are both equally bad.

It is the worst Bioware game that I have played, so, yeah.
And, in all honestly, I can get to people that says that they enjoyed DA2, but to say it was better than DAO, please...

I've said it before, and I'm saying it again. Except for the reused environments and lack of atmospheric locations, I think it was more enjoyable than DA:O. Origins' combat was annoying to me, DA2's is much more enjoyable and more fun for my taste. I also prefer the characters in DA2 and the storyline. I simply felt more emotionally involved here. It also plays smoother and more fluently for me somehow. It might be because of the improved menu system, the fluid animation or the fact that Origins had a horribly clunky interface on Xbox (where I played it) but it felt better for me. DA2 also consisted of lots of small quests and that felt much more fun to me than the incredibly long, long slogging through dungeons in DA:O. I couldn't do the Fade or the Deep Roads from Origins another time, whereas I have no problem revisiting any part from DA2.
Anyway, I don't care if you prefer DA:O, in fact I totally get that, but don't roll your eyes at me because I have a different taste.

I haven't played SWTOR, Sonic, or titles predating Baldur's Gate, but I've played the rest on the PC platform.

Out of all of them, the only two games I struggle to find any desire to replay are DA2 and ME3.

contrary to popular opinion I love this game and absolutely ADORE the characters in it. Story-wise this is actually a very good game although I agree that if the game was worked on for much longer it would have been better relayed and portrayed to the community (right now a lot of imagination is required for backgrounds and some animations)

I also agree with ioannisdenton that the DLC is superb, which makes me doubly sad as they've stopped all production of other planned DLC.

My opinion is that haters and trolls killed this game, not the game itself. I realize very few people will share this opinion however.

I agree completely. I can happily say that thanks to the story and the characters, DA2 is one of my favorite games despite its flaws. the fact that Hawke's story is never going to get a decent conclusion because of all the hate makes me rather sad.

Yes and No. The recycled environments thing almost ruined it completely, but it had enough redeeming quality to counterbalance. Just a big spoon full of awesome mixed with a big spoonful of dog ****

Facts: Me1 had ALSO recycled enviroments but people love it
Me1 had terrible combat but people loved it.
Then why on earth Da2 is bad???

Its a good point on recycled environments in ME. As i have a PS3 i had never played the game before, until few a months ago. So it was quite a surprise to see one of biggest criticisms of DA2 was present in ME. But i could work around that problem in ME as it does make sense for modular buildings and ships to exist in that world. So it ceased to be a problem when i could explain it away like that. But it was something that you would only want to see for one game only. With DA2 its hard to explain away why all the caves, houses and  warehouses look the same. The thing about the combat in DA2 was that it was so much faster than DAO. It did take a bit of time to get used to it and once i got used to the frantic combat  of DA2 its not a problem.

Actually the entire act 2 is very well done. I was divided in sparing or killing the qunari as they look convertist savages.
And i really liked the xpedition and the Lyrium idol plot that goes into Act 3.
Me1 has some great main story but in all honesty it drags on and on due to the massive amount of assignmetns; story builds very slow. And for the record Da2 tried something completely new woth the personal story, i for once was amazed that my characters is NOT a savior of the universe-galaxy-Thedas etc. With that said Da2 could be better if it was on development longer

The point here is that the recycled environments were building on barren worlds.

Pre-Fabs would be used a lot in exploration and so time saving for the develpers actually works for the feel of the universe.

Identical caves however don't really fit because it is harder to 'explain away' why they all look the same.

Personally I enjoy the combat in Mass Effect 1 most out of all the trilogy.

The puzzle for me is the praise Dragon Age II gets for its combat. Sure it looks flashier than the first game but it runs on a near identical dice-roll system. You can hammer a button, if you play the console versions, as much as you want but you wont do any more damage than you would with auto-attack enabled.

Which is another puzzle to me. Dragon Age II gets praise for its combat, dice roll with player interaction. Yet Mass Effect 1 gets called bad because it has dice-roll combat with player interaction.

ioannisdenton wrote...Then why on earth Da2 is bad???

It's not a bad game, it is actually pretty enjoyable for me. Yet it is still the Bioware game, of those I have played, that I like the least.

Probably. In its defence though, it's still better than most games out there.

Thank you. I enjoyed DAII narrative so much and I loved the fact that it wasn't a Saves the World ™ type game. I really enjoyed how involved you felt in the politics and events of Kirkwall as well as the lives of your companions. It was very interesting.
