In that case I would just use the Raider/Harrier/Hurricane/Piranha or other better boss killing weapons in the game.

I could even use the Hurricane and the Wraith with a lower total weight penalty than just using the Claymore.

Face it: aesthetic preference is what leads everyone to select the Claymore.

But you wouldn't be using a Claymore

Well, according to the math I'm trying to run, the Claymore still comes out ahead damage-wise until Wraith IX. Only a Wraith X beats it... by like 10 points of damage... and still looses against armor.

So Claymoar wins.

If you really are serious about this, you don't need to run the numbers since Cyonan did it for you:

Wraith X sustained DPS 773 with RC
Claymore X sustained DPS 833 with RC

so Claymore has ~8% higher DPS.

DPS is only a  relevant measure when enemies survive more than one shot though, which only occurs vs. bosses.

So Claymore has the advantage vs. bosses, while Wraith has the advantage vs. mooks (see my last post.)

But which situation comes up more often over the course of a match:  Shooting bosses or shooting mooks?

Hmmmm

*throws lift nades at mook spawn*

Shooting bosses, obviously.

Raider requires closer range than I want for all classes. Piranha doesn't deal massive burst DPS, it requires sustained shooting. Harrier makes me feel like a bad person so I only use it on my Voluses and my Plat-only classes. Hurricane doesn't fulfill my headpopping quota.

AND WRAITH STILL SOUNDS LIKE A TIN CAN SO IT STILL LOSES NO MATTER WHAT.

Most likely the same thing that leads PC players to think they are in any shape or form "more" awesome because shooting is tough as hell when you point and click.

I don't know, the Human Soldier with AR fully spec'd for melee instead of duration while reload cancelling the Claymore is probably one of the most lethal builds I've played. As many have said, not everyone has a well leveled Wraith.

I don't need to point and click, I just press my aimbot auto-target key and it cycles through the enemies.

But, you console scrubs with your aim assist are no stranger to having the computer aim for you, are you?

I left to actually go play this game and come back to this. Ashen's main point is that you can do many things that you can with a wraith that you can with the claymore AND spam powers to increase your overall dps. So it is the better choice on vanguards, engineers, adepts. For something other than a caster it's just a matter of preference.

Pfft, what pansy carries light guns?
If you're going to have a shotgun for casters, you're going to do it with a Talon.

You wanna know what I think?

This is how I feel when I kill stuff with the claymore.

And.

This is how I feel when I shoot stuff with the Wraith.

The claymore feels like you're punching time and space in the face.
The Wraith feels like you're watching a ballet... then shooting the dancers.

Mmm.
Btw Wraith > Claymore. I hate getting staggered and getting my reload messed up with the Claymore.

for pc users it is not better, they have such a god damn easier game they can get easy headshots of the claymore or they can avoid being hit by walking to the left or right with their frame rates to get the perfect shot

for normal game users, I have always favoured the wraith over claymore, that and Pir are underrated for me

GallowsPole's alt account?

Remember, on PC we're all a bunch of aimbotting, wallhacking, no-spreading, frame rate capping, ini. file tweaking no good sunsabyches.

Because it takes no skill to aim for the head while moving, or to hit moving targets, and we all cap our frames at 20. Just plug in a mouse and own a copy of ME3 and BANG, instant god mode according to our most learned console friends. *turns off sarcasm*

Don't forget that apparently higher frame rates make your guns do more damage...:?

On topic:

Not sold on Wraith>Claymore (bout the same imo) but the Talon is better than both.
