Most likely the same thing that leads PC players to think they are in any shape or form "more" awesome because shooting is tough as hell when you point and click.
I don't need to point and click, I just press my aimbot auto-target key and it cycles through the enemies.
But, you console scrubs with your aim assist are no stranger to having the computer aim for you, are you?

How else could we kill so many Swarmers?
It's not half as terrible as you all like to say it is. It helps a lot more than it hinders, otherwise it wouldn't be included in EVERY console shooter ever.
Training yourself to make twitch shots, is an entirely different story.
Pointing and clicking is easy. Pointing and clicking with 10-15 pixel precision, at twitch-speeds - required for calling yourself even semi-competent at PC shooters - is a different story.
Unfortunately, getting an xbox to aim for you by pressing 1 button (aim botting, in other words) is not even close to the skill required to play twitch PC shooters, and saying otherwise is just silly, and quite frankly wrong.
It was just a little humor, but since you responded with an actual argument, I'll put in my two cents.
Aim-assist is definitely helpful in console shooters, but this game's version is a little over-zealous. It can shift your point of aim quite a bit when you ADS, which can lead to some nasty situations. It's not the only game that does this, but it's the only one I know of without an option to turn it off or dumb it down a bit.
Better implementations only shift your point of aim ever-so-slightly, taking better account of where your crosshairs actually were before adjusting your sights for you. I don't think we need to get rid of aim-assist in ME3 for consoles, but it would be nice if it was implemented a little better.
Also, I've played many a PC shooter and I totally agree with you. Clicking easy, but twitch shooting is a whole different matter. Sure you can aim with more precision, but how quickly you can do it becomes far more important, PvP or otherwise. I still think it's easier to get headshots on PC than console (and auto-aim actually works against us here a bit), but getting 20 headshots before 25 kills is no mean feat no matter what platform you're using.
