Hi guys when release day I also bought another NWN2 complete from GOG .
Later I saw some files are changed in this game . They are
nwloader.exe ,
nwn2.exe ,
NWN2Launcher.exe ,
nwn2main.exe ,
nwn2main_amdxp.exe and dialog.TLK .
Also I noticed some files in \\NWN2Toolset\\Plugins\\es are different .
Maybe some other languages also different .
When I asked the support team why made changes in main exes ; someone said for compability for modern OSs but when I opened them in a hex editor ,
I am shocked because only one thing changed . One character changed with space character . I asked who make this change ? GOG team or developers ? He said I will not give this information to you . I don't know . I found all of them very weird but I can't handle all of them . I think here we have experienced NWN players and mod makers . I think someone explain . Thanks :)

I don't understand what the actual problem is. Also, try splitting the text into several paragraphs next time.

Probably provided to them like that from the publisher, I doubt GOG has any idea.

Why? Well GOG has certain terms to remove any DRM and the like, or it's set to identify the apps, really hard to tell. If it's just one byte different it's not doing any thing substantial, might even just have been recompiled as is using a new version of the compiler, and the new version of the compiler only had one very minor change ( which is actually unlikely ). The question should be, does it work and is it using DRM, and the answers seem to be yes and no.

I'd trust games coming from GOG more than ones coming directly from Atari, I am sure it's not a problem and one byte being off is just insignificant.

Not seen any complaints yet.

The official patch is the current version sold by GOG.com at this point, there won't be any other patches.

The changes are from this being a new release, the compiler could have changed that, or it's part of removing the DRM, or it could just be a bug, does not seem to be a material issue.

You probably should ask Hasbro, or Gog.com, but frankly the people who know or could find out are probably on a completely new project now, and the people talking to customers aren't the same people who prepped and shipped the software.

This forum here is only going to allow you to speak with fans, the company who runs this forum ( EA and Bioware ) are actually neither the developer ( Obsidian ), nor are they the current publisher ( Hasbro ), and we are just here because the 1st game Bioware did make has it's forums here.

Not part of removing DRM . Because last patch also deleted DRM . Not a bug I installed it multiple times different computer with too many times downloaded installers . Lastly I asked GOG but they said we don't give answer for this question it's secret info :S What secret info :S Yeah I know this but maybe skilled modders knows something about them . Anybody here have Gamers Gate or GameStop version ? Maybe they are have these same changes ? or it's a GOG issue .

Most of the few who could actually do this, are actually developing things - like the fix for gamespy, fixing bugs in the game, figuring out still new parts of the engine, which are a little more interesting.

Not to mention those of us who can do things like that, actually had the game long before the gog.com version came out.

it is a conspiracy - they are tracking sales and collectively every extra byte, when connected to the internet, add up to a super program that controls the minds of crpg'ers - we will become an army and rule the internet from a subconscious collective.

Morbane is right...

The extra bits form an undetectable watermark in the background which brainwashes the thought into players:

"4e is D&D"

Sorry...

But I am not kidding - Dr Who is on the case and if the world lets people believe that D&D 4e is in fact worth playing - the world will end.
