Nice job Vega. that's what I call a suicide mission.

Does anyone here approve of what Vega has done at the end?

[spoiler]
When the damn asari said Vega you can't save everyone it's ok blabla she actually meant it. She was willing to sacrifice herself. His squadmates died trying to save the colonists too. He basically wasted all their lifes. If he values some intel over all these people maybe he's better off with cerberus than my party in ME3...

Indeed, even my Renegade Shepard would have saved the colonists....

If they wanted to make him a dramatic chipmunk, they failed. I even remember when he told one of his squad not to shoot the krogan at the start, because "they are not murderers". If he really acts to a moral compass, then his "rational" decision at the end makes even less sense. I'm sure whoever was behind the storywriting considered the options of Vega letting the asari die instead, and actually put meaning behind her words.

The title colonel cluster**** would fit this guy better than N7.

I give it an 8.5/10, the movie made me cry in the end, I didn't expect things to end that way. Yet, it makes sense, since saving those people was basically impossible. I thought it was cool in a way because it felt like the Arrival DLC, Shepard sacrificing a ton of lives for the sake of the lives of everyone else. There was a bit of foreshadowing that the final decision wasn't going to be the most logical one, when Treeya says that it doesn't matter if you what you do is wrong or right, its the fact that you have to try and do something, and that's the decision and you have to live with it as a leader.

True, for a short movie it was very engaging to watch. And yes the ending was quite emotional. They really know how to build up to the dramatic ending. Especially the scene were Vega found the teddybear on the crashsite and remembered that he promised to save them. Despite that he said that he can't change what he has done, something like that will haunt you forever. Maybe that's the reason why hes working out so much, because it helps him put aside the bad memories... but I simply don't see that dude in a commanding position. He acts way too impulsive.

The intel could have saved much more lives than those of the conolists. The situation made it so it didn't in the end, which makes it a tragedy.
If you're used too much of cliched-holywood heroes always saving the princess over military objectives and it ends up working okay, I suggest you read some books.

I haven't watched any hollywood movie since 6 years or so actually. And I'd personally sleep better having tried to save lifes instead calculating the odds of "what might happen if". Trying to justify bad things for the greater good just gets you indoctrinated.

It depends on what one would consider "The Right choice". They mentioned earlier in the movie that "The intel could prevent dozens or even hundreds of colonies from being taken again", and it would've.....except Shepard blows up the base not long after James makes his choice. The only reason it was pointless was because of the timing: If he did the choice say about in between the time Shepard died and revived, then objectively he would've saved more people due to preventing their kidnapping.

Really, it was just poor timing:(

I watched it a few days ago after finishing ME3 - I guess i just would've expected him to be more conflicted in ME3 given the ending of Paragon Lost. He goes from being someone who idolizes Shepherd to someone who resents him a bit, but that ebbs away pretty quickly. If ME3 had of followed the same structure as ME2, they could have wrote a pretty good loyalty mission for James in coming to terms with his decisions.

I really wasn't suprised about the ending. James talks to Shepard about it in ME3 when they were boxing each other. He choose the data because he thought it would bring the collectors down, but what he didn't know was that the intel he aquired was not needed since Shepard took down the collectors without it.

A few cheesy lines/scenes, a few cheesy animations but it really does fill in the blanks for Vega and why he has an attitude with Shepard in the beginning of ME3 and his general issues throughout.

Wasn't expecting much from this film, I watched it last weekend as a much needed Mass Effect fix (about a week after finishing ME 3 for the first time), but I found it entertaining, to my surprise. It wasn't great, but it fit well story-wise with the stuff which was happening before and during the events of ME 2. We can assume the Alliance was conducting a similar operation on Horizon, led by Ashley/Alenko. I didn't know much Vega before starting ME 3, I avoided spoilers like the plague.
