@ Mr. Gaider: I just want to say that I really appreciate Bioware's position on the issue: you should show us something only when you are ready and confident.

I'm tired of devs that promises the moon and show us scripted demo or teaser trailers that do not reflect the finished state of the game at all.

Even if I get the importance of marketing and the like I'm really tired of the hype machine and the pre-order business model. I really appreciate the more sober attitude towards the fans and the critics alike after DA2's loud and excessive marketing campaign.

Maybe I'm delusional and it's just part of a marketing strategy to get a clean slate with the fans. Still better than button and awesome.

Here's an idea... it's just a guess, mind you... but hear me out...

Dragon Age: Inquisition is ready for demo right now. It's got a great story, lots of entertaining quests, it's looking really good, and the game mechanics are working well. Bioware could show it to us today. They could give us characters, locations, story spoilers, early gameplay videos, developer interviews, the works.

But... why would they want to do this?
And why would we want them to?

The gaming press is saturated with rumours and releases of new consoles, magazines are running covers on the games of the moment (there's always a few around in the spring), and the game is still 9 months away from its earliest possible release, likely to include a hardware platform which hasn't had its own release yet!

Why not wait?

Why reveal a game when the story is "great"? Let's wait for incredible.
Why reveal a game when the quests are "entertaining"? Let's wait for epic.

Why reveal a game when it's looking "really good"?
Let's wait until the very sight of a screenshot will Blow. Your. Mind.

Because that's the game I want to play.

I'll wait until it's ready.

Do you really think the market is going to be any less saturated with information nine months from now, when the consoles (or at the PS4) will actually be coming out? That is silly.

I don't think the press will suddenly forget about the new consoles, but once both have been revealed and they've been talked about and compared for a month or so, they'll fade a little out of headline news. If DA3 is indeed coming out for the next-gen consoles, that would seem like a good time to launch it?

Plus, since there is so much going on this year, it's worth waiting to launch DA3 until it's all shiny and polished and will really catch some attention :)

We don't know if DA3 will be coming out on the next gen. If it is, we don't even know if the XBox next gen console will be out by Holiday 2013.

And the consoles themselves will have a lot of buzz, but every game coming out for the next gen consoles will also be fighting for a spot at the media table. Some have already been announced and information released. Current gen consoles games that are going to be released this Fall have been announced for quite some time and plenty if information already given.

No matter how you slice it, the closer to the summer Bioware starts releasing information, the tighter the media spotlight is going to be. While that won't inherently mean failure or doom, it does introduce be RISK of failure or doom. And just assuming the experts know what they are doing is a dangerous road to travel down for a product/franchise that you feel is unique and want to see carried on into future iterations.

If DA3 comes out and we get something anywhere near the reaction we saw with ME3, where the parent company EA is voted the worst in the world, I can't imagine they wouldn't begin taking hard looks at Bioware as a developer and evaluating in a very harsh light their value to the EA organization.

I'm not intending to scare or be a doomsday forecaster, but when people tell me there is nothing to concern ourselves (or, at least, MYself) about, I just feel I need to point out some realities. If EA took a lot of flak from the previous ME title and its developers seem to have no direction or guidance where to take the series going forward, TOR moved to free-to-play in a move that was almost a raising of the white flag within its first year and the DA series doesn't match or come close to matching the sales of the original game, EA will begin looking at Bioware as a business asset and what it truly brings to the table.

Hey Jimmy, you're scaring the kids :?.

There's still time I reckon, even if DA3 comes out Q4 2013. I think the Dishonoured debut trailer came out in april 2012, while the game itself was released in October, so 6 months might be reasonable? Granted, the new consoles complicate the picture, but EA hasn't been exactly raking in the money during the last year or so. Perhaps they have to ease down a bit on the PR budget?

I don't have a problem with an (early) April debut. It could be done. It would be tight, especially this year, but it could work.

If we don't see something until May or June (or later), then it will be an uphill battle to capture the attention of the market in time for this jam-packed holiday.

Not to mention that not only with the marketing arena crowded, there will also be a tight amount of cash. People will have only a finite amount of money to spend on their hobby. When you throw a big ticket item like a console into the mix, consumers usually only buy one console and one game. Will that one game be DA3 for many people? No, not if they don't remember anything about it because of the blitzkrieg of advertising for video games we will likely see in the next nine months.

I don't see how Bioware would be placed on the chopping block. ME3 was many things to many people, but the bottom line was that it was a hit. And aside from a couple of waning sports titles, Mass Effect, and the Sims, EA is having a tough time making hits of late.

Mind, I wouldn't mind seeing Bioware go back to Microsoft or maybe even partner with Ubisoft or Take Two or the like. But if EA let's that happen, it has almost nothing to do with Bioware, bad press and toxic forum or no. Their games make lots of money. People can **** about EA all they want, but they'll still buy a game with the Bioware logo on it.

Ive never had faith in the advertising side of marketing....

im more interested in hands on articles with the product.... those usually dont show up until about 2-3 months before the release anyways....

I say set us fans drool a little more, better chances of less information going more viral when its released....

<blink><blink>  Ok.  So.  They say we should expect info in the Spring.  Notwithstanding the fact that 'they' are left unnamed and with no corraborating quotes...  IT AIN'T SPRING YET!!!!  It's still WINTER.  At least, it is in the Country that Bioware operates out of.   Spring is a 3 month period.  They could release info on the last day of spring, 1 minute before the first day of summer and they'd still be on the 'info in spring' schedule.  So, what exactly is your problem?  You are complaining that they haven't released the information that they've said they won't release?  How DARE they do what they say they'll do!

You are swiftly becoming the poster boy of BSN Entitlement Syndrome.

Oh, for Christs's sake.

We're not bothered by waiting. We're
bothered by the fact that Bioware says the game isn't even ready for a
teaser trailer or screenshots for a magazine reveal. They still say the
game is set for a calendar 2013 release and won't be be ready to show
ANYTHING even by the end of March. If the plan is to release during the
Holiday season the game will have to go GOLD late Summer/early Fall. If
you don't think that means anything then you are not a critically
thinking person.

Microsoft has scheduled their NextBox event for April though, right? March would seem like the sweet spot for Bioware to unveil Inquisition IMO. PS3 hype is becoming mostly a smattering of tech talk and complaints of not seeing the actual unit. April will be all about fan-generated hype for Microsoft's showing. May will be all about comparing the 2 consoles. June will be all about E3.
I can't see Inquisition not getting pushed to the back of the pack if it's unveiled some time after March.

Unless you buy into the rumors that EA will have next gen XBox exclusives for all of their released games.

I don't... but it could be easy to speculate as such.

Lol, the irony. I think you mean you're, fool.

On topic: Bioware has never been this tight lipped about a project. Even during the origins waiting period, devs were slipping hints and asking our opinions. The only reason they're stepping on egg shells now is because the me3 team got hammered for making promises during marketing they didn't keep.

That article doesn't really give the impression of NextBox-exclusive content for all EA titles,or even many EA titles, at all. Seems like a pretty big leap to lump Dragon Age into that.

I don't think that's really relevant.  Most of the percieved misleading comments were to my memory made quite near release.

Timeframe doesn't really matter though. They got hit pretty hard by fans and the media for making misleading statements about ME3. They have to be worried about sharing details that don't pan out with Inquisition.

Well, there certainly wasn't any way to side or sympathize with Cereberus.

And, to be fair, there is always the joke of the person claiming only one ending because they were color blind.

Exclusive Dragon Age content for Microsoft's next console? I'll be pissed to hell and back if that happens. I'm buying a PS4 and my PC can hardly run Mass Effect 1.

On topic: BioWare has said Spring a few times. It is not Spring yet. Please do shut up about the media silence.
