2. The only ending Shepard potentially survives is high EMS destroy. the whole "hanging out on the citadel" thing sounds pretty out of place in the middle of the reaper war..... "well guys that was fun, now let's go hit chronos station!".... yeah i'm not buying that.

Ok I've seen this repeated a few times now. And it makes no sense. Our soldiers in real life, fighting in Afghanistan, and in the past Iraq got R&R. It's a healthy thing for Morale, they get 2 weeks of a 12 month deployment to go spend time with family, with friends, relax, have a good time, before going back to hell. So no, it's not unrealistic, and I've even see mentions that suggest there should be feelings of guilt for having said good time. Ridiculous. If you don't like the idea, don't buy it. But don't suggest  that having some R&R isn't appropriate in a game, when it certainly is something that happens IRL.

While i 100% agree with real troops needing r&r and they deserve it. It seems a bit funny to defend in a game unless its something that you have interest in playing. Throughout this game we are shown that all the tough jobs and decisions are made by shepard. Hes the only one who can stop the reapers and the only one who can unite races to do it.

The majority of his race is also being killed off but hey lets party and buy and apartment. Im not against anyone enjoying any part of this game foe any reason or even this dlc coming up. you better believe if something like this really happened no commander would be taking downtime to buy a home and have some drinks

But it's IN the game too. The shooting match with Garrus, Sparring with James, Citadel dates etc. Did you get the conversation with Joker after Thessia practically begging Shepard to stop and breathe before he/she completely breaks? Garrus telling him/her to slow down, sleep? This is exactly why game or real life R&R is a neccessary part of war. As badass as commander Shepard is, he/she still doesn't do his species much good if they drive themselves into the ground before even getting to Cronos station. And I find it funny how realism has no place in a game, when people are arguing that R&R isn't realistic? No commander is any good to his troops if he doesn't keep his own morale up. A fact several soldiers I know have learned the hard way.:(

Does the Citadel DLC Affect the Ending?

No, not beyond the possibility of adding new war assets to increase your Galactic Readiness score.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think War Assets do not affect Galactic Readiness. War assets add up to TMS and determine EMS together with Galactic Readiness. Galactic Readiness itself is only affected through multiplayer (or cheats).

Sorry if I sound like a smartass, I appreciate Bioware employees answering questions.

You are correct, but they have proved in the past that they have absolutely no idea how the Galaxy at War system even works, nor do they care to.

I'm not sure how else to explain the outright deception of the whole thing that went on for months (and was even displayed as recently as a few months ago).

So... Can we actually USE these squad mates outside of the DLC?

The new updated info didn't really explain.

Yeah i do remember all that and yeah you're right. I guess maybe i am unfairly critical of this dlc (big maybe)

I dont know, anyone remember playstation home? Real fun decorating your own place right? How long did that last again?

Will (CHARACTER NAME) be present in the DLC?
We would prefer not to spoil which characters will be present, or in what context, beyond what we’ve said: the DLC offers a chance to adventure with your ME3 squad, along with Urdnot Wrex, and to connect with old friends, including romances.

So is Wrex the only (temporary) returning Squad Member(that we can use in combat) and we'll only be able to fight along side him and the others we'll just meet and talk to Afterwards? Was hoping to have Miranda and Jack back in Battle with me, at least for one mission.

Still looking forward to the DLC and can't wait for Tuesday.

Sucks that Jack, Miranda, Grunt, etc. won't be able to go along on missions in this DLC.

But I'm pumped to have Wrex back so that's a great thing.

Can't wait for this DLC.

Well, no, that's not what you said in the announcement. If I may quote:

"Uncover the truth and fight alongside your squad – as well as the cast from the original Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2."

Of course it's nice to see the old friends again, but if they have no role in the adventure portion then this - while still good - is less than the reasonable expectations raised by the announcement.

I'm thinking Miranda might still appear on the mission. The screenshot she appears in has Shep and Kaidan in armor.

Then why does BioWare say
masseffect.bioware.com/downloads/citadel/

Embark on one last adventure with your team in Mass Effect 3: Citadel.

When a sinister conspiracy targets Commander Shepard, you and your team must uncover the truth, through battles and intrigue that range from the glamour of the Citadel's Wards to the top-secret Council Archives. Uncover the truth and fight alongside your squad – as well as the cast from the original Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2, including Urdnot Wrex!

It doesn't make any sense

RE: Taking leave during a war

I get the whole "soldiers always get leave, even in war" argument, but there's a big difference between an ongoing overseas action and a war of annihilation. US soldiers fighting in Afghanistan get leave. Did German soldiers get leave in 1945 as the Russians closed in on Berlin? I'm guessing they did not - and even then the stakes were lower, as obviously the allies didn't slaughter every single person who lived in the axis nations when they won.

I'm not knocking the DLC. I'm looking forward to it and while I would have preferred it to be post-ending they've stated time and time again that it wouldn't be. I'm just going to try and pick the best logical spot for the "R&R". I'm thinking perhaps after the Rannoch arc... you've got a small victory against the reapers there, good time for a break. Why not blow off the Asari Councillor who wants you to run into Priority: Thessia for a while? Presumably Miranda won't be available yet though. Or maybe after Horizon... you could headcanon that Hackett needs time to assemble the fleet for an assault on Cronos station, so you've got some downtime while you wait for that.

Also I have a prediction: The new storyline stuff can only be done with your ME3 squad, or possibly with the addition of Wrex. But the "combat area", whatever that is, will allow you to take a wider variety of squadmates into it.

Thinking the same.  I wonder if they'll work this "training" area into the galactic readiness meter in some way.  The groundwork for post-MP activities?

Should I Have Everything Else in the Game Done Before Playing Citadel?
There is no right or wrong time to play the Citadel DLC, once it’s unlocked. If you play the Citadel DLC with everything else unlocked (just before attacking Cronos Station), the new DLC content will all be unlocked. If you play the Citadel DLC right after stopping the Cerberus coup attempt, the DLC content will unlock naturally over the course of the main game.

Sound like Leviathan where you could go back and forth between the DLC and the main game and not being locked into it once it starts.
