Dispite being the final DLC for SP & MP - are the weekly balances for MP going to continue?
They will continue for a while (is always like that in games).
But eventually they will have fixed the most pressing issues and some others too and since no new content comes out, they will discontinue making patches (unless some new major bug/exploit/whatever is discovered)
Each game has a life cycle.
It begins with the release of the game, and can be extended by adding new Downloadable content.
But at some point there would be too much content/too many MP maps, so the development of new stuff gets more-less dicontinued and the staff is reassigned to other tasks (other projects from bioware like Mass effect 4)
Mass Effect 3 has pretty much reached the end of the line, bioware actually CANNOT make more content than was announced (well, they can release another alternate appearance/weapons pack for SP). Multiplayer would get lame if you add any more NEW maps (thats why the last 2 MP DLCs didn't actually include entirely new maps) because the playerbase would be spread out too much -->difficultys when searching for games
This is not that much of an issue for the big players in MP gaming like Call of Duty and Battlefield (thogh BF is superior since it has twice the life cycle of COD and doesn't need to release a new game every year to keep their community by their side)
Soon (in about 1-3 months bioware will move away from Mass Effect 3 (after all the balancing is finished and all major issues resolved) and prioritize other games like Mass Effect 4 which is going to be one hell of an undertaking, even more difficult to do than ME3 because of the Frostbite Engine and since our hero Shepard won't be with us then --> story has to be done from scratch, prequel VERY likely because easier and less conflict with Shepards choices in the ME trilogy
