Gotta be honest, neither of these things excites me in any way.
I'm really unsure as to why so many people are so excited. Leviathan was nonsense and Omega was disappointing(mainly because it was too predictable, didn't really have any choices and the only female turian we've ever met dies in the most stupid ass way) and for once i won't mention the main game itself(except to say that, shut up).
Now for a while consistency and logic with games has taken priority unless its a deliberately absurd game. But having a party and stuff is what you do after you WIN. now i know its not actually possible to win, not without doing something horrible and dying, but hey. And a plot against shepard, is completely unsurprising, more people want to kill him/her, consider me unshocked.
I would feel differently if a few things happened, starters, not fighting same old boring enemies, seriously. In the singleplayer, as soon as you unlock the black widow, you are a god. Theres no need to ever use another weapon, except maybe an assault rifle if you run out of ammo. Bring on the Collectors, those guys would actually be a challenge consider how tough they are in MP; Even on insanity ME3 only has two reasonably tough fights, and one of those is just basically wave 10 of the MP for a good 5 minutes or so.
Second, bring back Harbinger ffs. People may not have liked his constant taunting, but i did, it gave the right kind of pressure and i genuinely liked him. He was savvy, i mean his opening move is to KILL you outright. Plus he gave some nice evil speeches, not this "we are fire, blah blah i make no sense" crap.
Third, give me a goddamn reason why thanix cannons are used exactly once the entire freaking game.
Fourth, don't introduce things that make no sense. Kind of late after the game is finished and leviathan came out, but hey.
Fifth, enough cliches. Cliches are cliches for a reason, we see them way too often.
No attempt at forced emotional connection, seriously. I hate that goddamn kid and that chick in leviathan made me facepalm.
Sixth, don't force people to use the M-3 Predator Pistol of Suck and the Avenger Assault Rifle from the Arse in cutscenes. It friggin pisses me off when i have a giant cannon on my back designed to pierce tanks with shield piercing ammo on it and i shoot at enemies with a piece of crap pistol that i apparently keep around in addition to a GOOD pistol.
This extends to squad mates, i don't want to see liara holding an assault rifle she has no training with and has never carried the entire game.
Honestly, only 1, 4, 5, and 6 would be required for me to play through this. I don't care about more time with the LI's who got utterl screwed content-wise more than i care about and actually solid, fun DLC which isn't overpriced. Take some inspiration from ME2 god dammit. Hell, take some inspiration from EVERY DLC FROM THAT GAME. The only one that didn't have lots of character content and stuff was probably firewalker, but that was still quite fun with the hammerhead.
Although Arrival wasn't as popular, i thought it was great, because it chnaged things up, you were alone, you were meant to be sneaky for the first time ever in the game and you had a basic horde mode which made you feel like a complete badass, while your enemies attempt to fight you while telling their boss how you're annihilating them.
And definitely LotSB, probably my favourite dlc of all dlcs.Character stuff, development, new race(who are awesome), badass boss fights, awesome environments, think the prototype ai for me3 was there and a few sequences where you had to do something other than shoot and some honestly funny dialogue here and there.
Few things from overlord too, asgain funny stuff and environments some actually emotional things and some good suspense on the geth ship.
Actually thats something ME2 does much better than ME3, the atmosphere. I didn't feel worried at all during me3 except when mordin died and that annoying ass non boss fight on earth. ME2 had me dreading what was coming next when i saw the next batch of strategic cover, then sometimes, NOTHING happened. It kept me on edge, especially since cover went from optional in ME to the mos important survival tactic in me2.
