So whats the best place to play this DLC, is before Cronos Station justifiable? Or should I load an earlier save?

Wouldn't it be simplest to play a new game? Even if you're out of ME2 Sheps, you can always whip up something with the save editor if you don't like the defaults.

I  have a "canon" shepard that I use first for all new content.

We really don't know how it will work. Maybe the Squadmates are added to a new hub when you finish their respective sidequests or some such. I doubt you'd be able to start the DLC and meet Samara there before you do her sidequest.

Priestly said the DLC is available after the Citadel Coup and before Cronos Station. I would wager a guess that in order to get the former squad in the DLC you must have first run into them in game. So I while Rannoch is good, you probably wouldn't get Miranda until you played it after Horizon.

My reason for this guess is that it makes no sense to see the squad in the DLC then run into them in game and have them act like they haven't seen you in forever. Though Miranda is off and on the Citadel during her hunt for Oriana so I don't know. Jacobmanecer would be even more pissed for rekindling with him then having still him dump you later on. Though they probably get locked out of the content anyways. Same with Thane. I wonder if Legion is available if you do this DLC during the Rannoch arc.

I agree plot wise about the urgency, so after Rannoch seems like a good place. But right before Cronos Station (if you want Miranda) is good too as it is literally Shepard's last chance to take a real break. All she/he gets after that is the LI scene.

You do meet Miranda throughout the game,  her appearance could be justified earlier.

Before cronos station might work, get shepard prepared to wage a war against cerberus and give the fleets a chance to prepare to strike at cerberus.

Maybe just before sanctuary as well, since it would be while shepard is still recovering after losing on thessia.

Agree. I even put that in my second paragraph. If she is available pre-Horizin then all you would have to do is the Jacob and Samara quests (which are available around Rannoch opening up) and you would have everyone. I wonder about Morinth though...

I read your original response three times and I didn't see that until you pointed it out. I think I may be dying.

Do it after Sanctuary. Shepard's "I've had enough of this place" clearly shows they need some R&R...

But no matter when you play it, it's going to be unjustifiable.

Funny, they used similar reasoning for leaving out the middle conversation option ( this is war, shepard must be paragon or renegade, there isn't a place for middle ground, galaxy is at war blah blah blah)

and now, sure have R&R place to blow of some steam but you will talk with your friend only in absolutes,
"shepard let's play poker"

paragon "we need to rescue as many people as we can, I am sorry we don't have time to play poker"

renegade "are you really that stupid? we are at war remember, stop screwing around, grab your gear and be ready to fight and die on my command, stupid alien scum"

<_<

Thanks for the ideas guys in regards to roleplaying R&R - I've altered the topic to discuss/ask if BioWare has indeed put a reason for being stuck on the citadel :)

Looks like an awesome DLC.

I don't want to live in a world where I have to have a good reason to get drunk and blow money. You people are monsters.

Well, wouldn't it have to be before Chronos anyways, since that is the point of no return?

I meant immediately before cronos. As that is where the legacy auto save is.

Lol, there is a Save right before Kai Leng storms you on Cronos... Shepard is like "Wait!!!!!!! i need a drink! fu**er"

Well don't be on a mission to save the world from doom :P

Seriously though, this is only a minor question I have, but it would be cool to have an explanation.

Jessica Merelezerezian or whatever said there's a good reason for it, but I'm not sure how much stock you guys would put in what she says.

I need a night of drinking and gambling after having my daily existential crisis. I dang sure need booze and gambling after saving the Krogan from the Genophage.

We know its post-coup pre-cronos so all it needs is a holoconversation with hacket at the start saying that shepard has done well so far (or 'did all you could' for post-thessia) and give an update on the crucibles progress and that its almost ready and he orders shepard to get some rest and mentally recharge his batteries ready for the final battle.

There is nothing wrong with drunken debauchery. The way I figure it, it is the right of every soldier.

I think immediately post coup would be as good a time as any to segue into the conspiracy plot, since Shep's already on the Citadel. The chaos of the immediate aftermath is as good a time as any for someone to put nefarious deeds into motion.

As for the R&R portion, I'd think right after Rannoch. It's really the only potentially unambiguous large scale 'win' in the specified time frame, thus the 'best' time for a mid-mission celebratory leave.
