I will most likely start this DLC right before Cerberus headquarters. That's where it would make the most sense to me.

You could imagine admiral Hackett needs some time to mobilize the fleet and prepare the attack on Cerberus base which means a perfect time to take some R/R on the citadel, and more importantly to investigate on this "conspiracy".

And who knows maybe this is more crucial for the war effort than it seems at first glance.

While trillions of lives are in danger in the galaxy.
Shepard has some important not story changing reason that is largely irrelevant and currently unknown within the Mass effect universe in which he is a character, he has time to spend gambling and partying after citadel coup when the war is it at it's most important moments.

What irrelevant story reason does Shepard have?

Yeah it might be very crucial, perhaps we get 400 extra points.
Imagine how great and game changing that will be.

with DLCs i generally go like this

- From Ashes (Immediatly after getting Garrus)

- Omega (Immediatly after Citadel Coup) - I like to think it as a counter-attack from Shepard to Cerberus station.

- Citadel DLC don't know yet but probably will do immediatly after Rannoch. Seems like a good place because is still relatively peaceful if you consider that after Thessia is just a big run to the end

- Leviathan i generally like to do it all together just before Chronos Station and this because it feels like a crucial task it might get Shepard attention at that time (Reaper-killer). Plus i think discovering Reapers origin it's better to do it close to the end.

This is just me though...

For me it is usually From ashes right after Garrus' recruitment, Leviathan after the coup (and the monastery mission, it triggers extra liara dialogue) and Omega right after Leviathan...I supposed Ciradel will fall after rannoch

Yeah, I really don't buy into the complaints about the casino.

Soldiers have been known to have down time, even during major wars. Often they'll do so before/after major operations.

So, there are times when it would make sense. Like after Rannoch, or before Cronos.

Even Joker and Shepard think the new DLC sounds ridiculous!

Joker: "Hey Commander, check it out! Big news! The new Blasto movie is breaking opening week records! There's also a big expose on quasar tournaments, tips on how to make your apartment look bigger, and...oh yeah, a big ass Reaper invasion. These people have no idea."

Shepard: "Sometimes I think this whole Citadel is a mistake."

Yes, because god forbid that the saviors of civilization are allowed to relax in a time where everyone is on edge. Seriously, this was an issue for some people?

Aside from the fact that my Shepard picks a very different response in that conversation, Shepard and Joker were talking about people getting lost in distractions so they wouldn't have to pay attention to the war at all.

That's very different from people who are on the front lines dealing with the war every day coming back to have a few hours of R&R and, yes, maybe even getting an apartment where they can come to "get away from it all" when they're not on the front lines.

It seems that no one on here can be bothered to remember that Joker can be seen in a bar during ME3 anyway, or that James can be seen in a bar or playing poker, etc.

If you guys are unhappy with the idea behind this DLC, there's a simple solution: Don't buy it. Personally, I'm thrilled that I might have more time with Ash, plus a fun story to play as well. Unless there are serious issues with it, I plan to buy it. And that's coming from someone who despises the endings.

wouldnt feel odd if it weren't for 2 things.

1) certain former squadmates have said they can't join you on the normandy in me3, but now they can make it to the citadel for R&R?

2) living quarters on the citadel? homeless refugees everywhere and people starving, but i'm going to buy and decorate an apartment?

But IRL there isn't a full scale Reaper invasion on your Galaxy.

I just find it odd were it's a time were there's a **** load of people depending on Shep and Squad to deploy the crucible so they can't out of a living hell.

But mister Shepard and his stealth Ship is like "dude lulz wait a moment i gotta spend money on the Casinosssss then we'll save you"

for one thing shepard has some pretty sweet quarters on the normandy. does he really need an apartment on the citadel too?

and as for soldiers in war and r&r..... "there is no war, only the harvest". the reapers are winning and it's not really close. shepard seems like the last person who would want to furnish an apartment on the citadel.

Turns out war is actually really boring and soldiers in war spend most of their time waiting. ME3 is meant to take place over a pretty extended timeframe as the Crucible gets built. Besides the Reapers take centuries to finish their harvest. Shepard can afford a couple hours of R&R.

+ Reapers kill millions of people everyday but Shepard goes to the Citadel for some R&R... Hey screw those dead people, let's have some R&R on the Citadel!
+ the apartment will blow up at the end of the game anyway but don't forget to furnish it nicely!

The whole dlc doesn't make any sense. Bioware did it again. Should be called Artistic Integrity DLC. The sad thing is that mindless biodrons will buy it anyway.

Real life soldiers don't face galactic annihilation.

But hey. Maybe I'll kidnap Tali (abort the Rannoch arc) and hit the casinos or chill in my fancy apartment while her people are slaughtered by Reaper-controlled geth and millions suffer and die elsewhere in the galaxy.

Maybe it all makes sense. But it seems kinda doubtful at this point.

Im amazed that it took all the writers for what generally is a pointless dlc, Romance dlc is what they chose to listen too over the last year?

Im not surprised as i said many times there was only 000000.1% chance the story would have been resolved, But having a conspiracy come from nowhere at the end of trilogy along with the catalyst come from nowhere 15mins from the end just is confusing as hell....

R&R is all well and good but paying for it is just laughable, your paying for added floors on the citadel and now your squadmates have time for you which negates the fullgame.

The only reason Shepard & Co. would be chillin', is if the war was over. It's totally stupid for them to party and drink while, in your words, "millions die". Except I would go one step further and say they aren't just being killed, they're being transformed into horrific amalgams of their former selves.

Actually they really wouldn't have much of a choice to take some time off.  You see to resupply a ship the size of the Normandy with items such as food, fuel, ammunition, etc - it would take DAYS.  Not hours, DAYS.  They're pretty much stuck on the Citadel whether they want to or not.  Unless you plan on taking on the reapers with insults stopping to take a break (for many reasons) is a neccessity.

However this reasoning will go unnoticed by the "woe is me" crowd but eh whatever

This isn't a war, it is a harvest.

Well, Shepard found time to gamble when Saren was seaching for the coundit, and found time do pass out drunk in several difrent worlds and on the Normandy while the Collectors were abducting people. Along with spending thousand on fish and equipement related to fish, and dancing on clubs, make me belive those are the reason why Shep never made pass Commander.

Along with stress releave, the spend credits can go to suport the war effort, so yeah I can deal with it.
