"Free" does not necessarily mean "good".

you haven't even seen the end product yet. stop whining or go play CoD and whine about something else instead.

You need to understand the difference between "whining" and "criticizing".

Come back when you can contribute productively to a conversation rather than just attempt to be insulting.

how can you even criticize a product when all you've seen is 1 promotional image. sounds like you're being petulent and whiny just for attentions sake.

I'm done here. you'll probably be lining up to play this fembot the moment she comes out anyway.

Clothes to cover up the creepy metal body thing is also pretty practical, if you want to infiltrate atleast....

She wouldn't need clothes or even skin in a squad-based firefight.

How "creepy" her metal body might be is entirely subjective.

I don't know, I just find it weird, and I did say to each his own. It's a metal shape, and the way I see it, it's the same as finding a marble statue of a naked woman sexy, which is just strange to me. And most of those statues at least actually have nipples...

But whatever, I'm sure BioWare brewed up an interesting concoction of powers for it, so maybe it will be a useful part of the team when everyone plays the frack out of it because they find it "appealing".

That's assuming that Cerberus would not have anything in place to detect any such infiltrations--which is silly, considering that the whole design is from Cerberus.

Lore aside, why do you think it so important that the kit use EDI's design rather than a more practical design?
You kind of deflected rather than answering.

It is kind of silly to assume the Mars base wouldn't have similar security measures, then. After all, the Citadel does. Obviously, part of being an infiltration unit would mean having a defense against such detection like a special coating or a VI hack that fools the sensors.

As for "why," it is simply a matter of iconography. EDI's body is part of the franchise now, and there are players out there, myself included, who want to run a kit with her model in the same way I have wanted a kit that uses some form of the Krogan Warlord's model for some time.

I'm sure something can be arranged.  Parts are likely to be modular.

According to SP, Eva Core was only the second built after EDI's VI went nuts on the moon. So it stands to reason why it would look the way it does and EDI took over the body. Given the fact that its relatively new and innovative tech, why there's only 1 design for it.

Sheesh. Must I explain everything?

And yet, when I wanted the Alliance Marine skin to be made usable people were complaining that no more humans were needed.

But somehow this was needed?

People are guessing that the Talon Mercenary is going to be a human. If so, that's essentially the same model as the standard Alliance armor, just a different texture. You might be able to paint it to convincingly look Alliance. Blue and gold, and such.

I want more humans, too, but, hey, opportunity costs.

You know that Internet meme that goes, "Doesn't matter, had sex"?

I am a variation of that. For the rest of all threads talking about this DLC and what they like or don't like about it... what is actually playing repeatedly on a loop in my brain is: "Doesn't matter, got a female Turian".

And why?

No, really. Explain why your want of an EDI kit is more important than the OP want of a more practically designed synthetic.

If you really think about it EDI's design is actually rather brilliant in both practicality for it's intended roles and versatility. It's basically a terminator bot, you can put the fake skin and such on it to blend in easily but if that gets damaged it's still a fully functional death machine.

The oversexualized  part of it is no doubt a combination of its intended role being more on infiltration and of Cerberus having a tendancy towards oversexualized agents. I rather doubt Miranda was given such a prominent role in Cerberus purely for her biotics and technical skill, the shadow broker's files also reveal TIM is a bit of a horn-dog when it comes down to it.

But for an infiltration bot that would no doubt have to use some persuasion now and again the sexualized form does make sense, an AI no matter how advanced isn't going to have the most charisma and sex is a powerful tool even in the future. A lot of people would no doubt overlook a rather flat personality and grant favors to someone with such an over the top body.

At least that's why EDI's body always made sense to me. Not sure how these Alliance ones came about, but we've got volus commandos so I'm not blinking an eyelash if they want to add EDI bots.

I should have been more clear about what the Alliance Marine skin is.
Look at Vega or Kaiden's light armor variants. Look at the Demolisher and the Cerberus Engineer as well.
That's the "Alliance Marine" skin.

The Talon Mercenary is as you mentioned very close to the standard Alliance armor.

I want more humans, too, but, hey, opportunity costs.

What opportunity costs?
It's their last multiplayer DLC. Nobody was rushing them to put it out. They could have waited and made it as complete as possible.

@OP: God forbid it's actually a good class or anything. No, let's all get up in arms over the way it looks. Volus were handed the same treatment you're giving this new character and they turned out great. Wait until it gets here before you start complaining.

You know? We should just focus on what we personally like about the DLC. I'm happy that you finally got a female Turian, and I know people have wanted a big Geth, and I guess people have been begging for an EDI clone.

I don't really see anything that jumps out at me as ermagerd awesome, but I'll reserve my judgment (except for my slight disappointment that the robot looks naked), and wait for Tuesday.

I'm super pumped about the SP DLC though, and will be looking for to that too!

Did you ever think that it's not as simple as people "getting up in arms over the way it looks"?

It's a question of design aesthetics.
We had BioWare telling us with Earth that "they did not want to overcrowd the rare slot" with multiple Rare kits that had a great many shared powers...and then we got exactly that with the Volus. Not to mention that they did not want to add anything which would "break the lore"--which again, we got exactly that with the Volus.
The same was used to justify why there was no male Shadow/Fury/Demolisher and female Paladin/Slayer/Destroyer.

Yet they have no problems with adding this character?
By and large, I've been happy with what BioWare has done. I'm only so worked up right now because of how seemingly out of character this whole expansion seems to be.

I don't understand all this hate. I loved EDI in ME2 and even more in ME3

It probably has something to do with the fact that some women despise to see an overly sexualized character.

oh well, that's not he reason I love her. It's for quotes like:

"I enjoy the sight of humans on their knees." or

"Do not worry, Shepard. I only forget to recycle the Normandy's oxygen when I've discovered something truly interesting." or

the Basilisk quote

:D

Among other quotes. Would still have liked her had she remained as that spherical shaped hologram on board the Normandy.

No, they could not. They would obviously be being rushed to put it out, because like anybody they have deadlines to meet. Time spent making one kit is time that cannot be spent on another. They chose the kits they thought would fill the most holes in player requests.

Eva Core, according to ME Wiki, died, and apparently the dude that she was helping becomes TIM. EDI never had a body, she took over the bot obviously modeled after the late Eva Core.

I'm sorry, I don't follow your logic here.

Not trolling, I seriously don't understand how one statement relates to the other.

There is a difference between breaking the lore and bending the lore.

The Volus merely bend it because they're not traditionally fighters. However, nowhere in the lore does it state they are physically incapable of using weapons or fighting.

Something like a male Asari would break the lore, because that's not actually possible according to it.

I'm not saying they do not have deadlines--I'm saying that this was their final DLC. It's not like they were unaware of this, and I sincerely doubt that at this point the MP team does not have enough clout or influence that EA would be unwilling to let them have free rein over a release timeframe.

Uh, actually the Codex does say so. Under the "Military" entry for the Volus.

The volus are not physically cut out for combat, be it a full-scale war or even a bar room scuffle.

So they're not cut out for a "bar room scuffle" but they are cut out for special operations?
Something is entirely off in that train of logic.

Something like a male Asari would break the lore, because that's not actually possible according to it.

But nobody is comparing those two things together. It just is so far out of character that it does not just bend the lore, but instead break it.

I don't get what all the fuss is about. EDI/EVA's figure is practically identical to Liara, Ashley, Miranda, and even the female Shepard. Hell look at the men. Shepard is a copy of a model, and Kaidan isn't exactly ugly or out of shape.
