In Mass Effect games, I played through so many times that I started making choices or action I would not want to do....simply to see the alternative possibilities. In doing so, I found out that it is NOT possible to exclude persons of interest from your team. Ashley, Garrus, Tali, etc.

My question is this: I am playing Dragon Age: Origin (deluxe copy) and I am wondering, is it even possible to exclude possible squadmates at all? To say it another way, do the convserational options boil down to them coming along regardless.....or do I ACTUALLY have a choice in Dragon Age???

Please reply with any helpful info. I would appreciate it as I a m playng as I typing this post :P

Without going into spoilers...

You only have "two" companions that are "forced" into your camp. However, you do not have to bring them with you on missions...as you can run the missions solo if you want. (and I believe that you can get one of them to leave your camp through dialog)

Though there are a couple missions when a recruit-able character has to come along with you...but just for that part in the mission...then you can choose whether you want them to stick with you or not.

The only person who cannot be told to leave or to stay away in DAO is Alistair. And the secret companion, if you choose to recruit him.

Thank you both, Warden Commander David and Face of Evil. This is my first play through and I wanted to know if I could kill this elf. Or if it just gave me "Renegade" points for choosing the "dark" option. I brought him with me.....for now. haha ha. Thank you, seriously.

Also may I add, that I am VERY glad to hear that Dragon Age gives gamers an actual choice. Compared to the Mass Effect universe (which I do LOVE...), where it is just an illusion of choice.

Oh, there's still the illusion of choice. The illusion is just a bit more convincing.

*slight spoilers* If you're talking about the elf I think you're talking about, there might indeed be a way to kill him. Make sure to always do actions that he won't approve.

You're forced to recruit Alistair, Morrigan and Oghren, but you can later kick out the latter two if you so choose. Wynne you're also forced to take at least temporarily if you pick the "good" option.
