I would very much enjoy being able to enter  your spaceship without any visible loading screen. The door opens, you pass the airlock where the loading done in the background, and then you just enter. You pick a planet, you see your ship fly off through the windshields, and into space. Same thing with with landing on planets, you enter orbit, you see all the sights throught the windshield, the grandness of the citadel or some other place for example, then you dock and you can exit into the location without any loading.

From a tech standpoint, this would all be simply be canned vids playing on your windshields while the world is loading up in the background, similarly as doors worked with ME1 elevators presumably. Programming and computer hardware isnt exactly my area of expertise, but seing the ps4 now with 8gb of gddr 5 ram that is capable of 176gb/s, i got to wondering if this would be possible. It would add so much immersion.

I also realize that this immersion would be diminished if you wanted to instantly exit your ship while the animation is playing, but personally im OK with waiting a few seconds extra for it, instead of sitting with loading screen as we are now. I dont know thought, maybe it would break the lore, because im not sure about the established travel times between relays and  planets in the ME universe. I suppose they could make it so you can instatly exit the ship after the loading is done, even if the animation of the ship landing is still playing on all the windows, just not to ****** people off.  Or they can just ignore it for convinience, just as you could always instantly travel between planets in the ME trilogy anyway. The important part here though is the removal of loading screens, which i hope is doable now without last gen consoles holding the games back anymore.

The technology for this already exists, its just not common. It certainly isn't common enough to design specifically for. It also will not be included in next-gen consoles.

What you are looking for is SSD, Solid state drive. It is an extremely fast loading type of harddrive. Instead of loading screens, transitions will happen instantly.

But there are games with virtually no loading already, even on consoles, and there are those that hide in clever ways. Uncharted 2 is a game that has extremely little loading for example, and you just go from grand vista to grand vista. Sure its very linear, but then again ps3 will soon be a last gen system.

no game the size of Mass Effect is without loading screens on consoles. Take it as a chance to grab a drink or something.

"Take it as a chance to grab a drink or something."

If you're willing to pay for it, seeing as I'll go through a whole jug of orange juice roaming around on the Normandy.
