Ok I chose vanguard in ME1, will how I spec my guy in ME1 affect how he is in ME2?

For example if I choose to be a shock trooper will that make ME2 Sheperd any different than if I choose Nemesis?

OR will it not matter at all how I spec ME1 Shep I get to add the points however I want come the start of ME2 (Kinda like how my ME2 shep did when ported to ME3)

For the curious I finally got around to trying ME1 (Ps3 guy here) and I am still trying to figure things out.

How you spec your ME1 character will not affect how your ME2 character is specced.

Your end level in ME1 will determine how many points you start with in ME2:
- Importing a level 60 character will start your ME2 character at level 5.
- Importing a level 50-59 character will start your ME2 character at level 3.
- Cannot remember if anything less than level 50 will start you at level 1 or 2.

NOTE: You are restricted to level 50 on your first playthrough. It is impossible to reach level 60 on on a single playthrough (requires at least 2 playthroughs).

All new ME2 characters (new or import) will start with 1 point in their signature ability, 1 point in another power, and 1 point in a bonus power if bonus powers are selectable (no bonus powers are unlocked on your first ME2 playthrough). So importing a level 50+ character will allow you to start at a higher level, which means more starting points.
