I originally had my basic copy of NWN2 installed on a laptop PC back in 2008. The laptop took a dump due to hardware malfunction the next year and was unrecoverable.
I was without my own computer for a while due to lack of money. So I have a computer now and still had my disks and luckily game documentation and such. I had bought another copy, this time managing to get the limited edition. I had to do some housecleaning and ended up tossing the extra game manual out.
So the other day I'm remembering that I never finished this game and tried to reinstall it on the new machine. I entered the cd key and it comes back with "invalid CD key." I recheck it against the inside cover of the manual and it is correct.
I've noticed the Answer HQ! doesn't even have an option for Neverwinter Nights of any edition and only has more recent EA games as I can tell.
Is there any way to fix this issue?

the cdkeys are grouped per release/version/vendor
if the cdkey you are trying to use is from a different box - then, no there is no way around it
try to go back to the olde versions and patch the slow way using the cdkeys that match the box/version/release/vendor
