Is it just me, or is Alistair the perfect guy?

I can't help but be slightly in love with a video game character. I have a boyfriend, but I can't shake off the fact that Bioware has, truely, made the perfect guy. Nervous, sweet, adorable, and funny!

And please.. By all means, post your Alistair pictures!

As lame as it may be, I completely agree. Alistair puts my boyfriend to shame, too.

I love Alistair. He featured in my dream last night (I haven't played the game for ages so I don't know why it would start happening NOW  - very strange) and I was pretty depressed to wake up next to my boyfriend <_<

Edit: And this is lame but I shall say it anyway: every time I spoke to the guy on my first playthrough it made me feel all bashful and excited and I have had a couple of moments where I have seriously thought that, since that excitement is actually lacking with my boyfriend (over 2 years we've been together, so... yeah) then maybe I should... er... end it.

<_<

Eh...RL me would get along with Alistair for the most part. But I also know we'd end up screaming at each other at several points along the way. Whining when stuff sucks for everybody is unhelpful.

I also prefer someone a little more assertive...I don't particularly want someone I could bully that easily.

He is, however, the perfect match for the character I'm playing. -shrug-

It's not just you.

And, just a warning? Get in my way and there will be scratching and hair pulling...

ahem...I mean, swords at dawn, madam.

It's just you.

(well, clearly not, as I'm sure this thread will quickly prove).

He's not that bad, I guess. I'm usually buddies with him in my game, but he's an ineffectual nincompoop. If you think about it, he really should be the hero of the story. If you remove the PC from the equation entirely... last of the Grey Warden's, rescued by Flemeth, heir to throne, in possession of the treaties... he really should be leading the charge himself but he's too much of a big puss so he relies on your character do everything.

'course, it'd be a boring game otherwise, but just sayin'

Ha ha ha HA :D

Yeah, my boyfriend isn't too impressed with how much time I spend playing RPGs either.

And good on you. Let's hope there are some real-life Alistairs about somewhere, eh?

Have you hardened Alistair's personality at all? If you have, then you'd know he's considerably more assertive and a bit resistant to bullying after the fact--and, as such, he's even *more* perfect. Just sayin'. =)

No Alistair is not perfect but that's what I love about him <3

Though I really wish he'd whine less >_>

I think he loses it a bit at the end - he really needs to learn to hold him self together more - too petulant!

Perfect? That's a strong word. Nah. He's a cute, well written character, and I definitely prefer him as a romance option in DA, but I'm kind of spoiled by my RL husband, who doesn't pout or leave me when I disagree with him. Al is just too...he doesn't seem to know his own mind very well. But definitely a great character- I find him very believable.

Lol, no, I try to stay in character when I play. Sarielle just doesn't yell at or bully anybody...she really takes a little more abuse than she should from people too.

But, as I said, while RL me could probably be good buddies with Alistair I don't think it would ever get past that. The only thing that might make it possible would be the whole class clown mentality he's got. I always did go for the class clowns.

I like him. Its funny because I like him and my husband likes Morrigan. He was telling me the other day he had a "naughty" dream about Morrigan, he felt dumb dreaming about a video game character like that.

He is an idiot and not even the cute kind. My opinion, of course. I prefer stable men over unstable deluded boys.

I was going to stay out of this one...but honestly....

If you feel that way go post in the "I hate Alistair" thread.  Obviously this thread was geared towards the fangirls.

I could go on for hours about all the personalities in the game and why they're that way.  I expect you'd have liked it better if Alistair had taken the inititive and played the game for you?

Ok. Sorry, but the kind of women who find a whiny, bumbling idiot, adorable are probably of little interest to me.

haha, i truely do hope there are some Alistairs out there. it's an odd name though, now that i think of it. i could never see naming my son Alistair, although in context i love it.

i am hiding my Alistair obsession from my boyfriend, though he's a little upset with how much I play the game. although, now that i think of it, he might've gotten a little jealous at how much i was smiling when Alistair told me he loved me in game.

i'm not sure how to post pictures here, but here's my favorite one ;)

The kind of women who find a whiny, bumbling idiot adorable probably have little interest in you. The fact at hand doesn't hinge upon your dislike of Alistair, sad to say.

Since fangirls find it appropriate to not only come but write 2 pages long fluffy defending posts in Alistair hate thread, I think I have all the right to do the same in this one - apart from 2 pages post, no need since one word is enough - idiot.

Usually the fangirls end up in the I hate Alistair threads defending him and yelling at the people that hate him.

I wonder if age has anything to do with how "perfect" females find Alistair?

I'm going to bet the older one is, the less entranced with him they are. And no, Cybercat, I'm not insinuating you're old. :o Just more mature possibly.

Alistair -IS- whiny especially at the beginning. But I don't think he's an idiot at all. I think he's entirely romantic and sweet but not exactly a strong leader. Some people are just meant to be the strength behind their leader. I don't really see that as a weakness in him, because he knows himself. To me he's entirely believable. Some of his dialogs are the best in the game, not to mention his voice acting. (Go Steve Valentine!!!) I don't think he's perfect, I think he was written to engage the female playerbase and he does that quite well. He also reminds me of my husband back when we were 15 and falling in love.

I also have a bit of a girlcrush on Morrigan. And... why does finding Alistair adorable and being worth someone's time have to be mutually exclusive??? I guarantee there is no one kind of woman that likes Alistair, more likely, women in general will probably like him.
