I don't think
anyone minds you criticising Alistair now that people have realised

I do recall you being described as 'mature' a few pages back, and I'm afriad to say you're really not showing it right now.

I approve of this quote. :wizard:

Hey I thought the Alistair threads were for the *Spoilers* forums so we could dissect each and every nuance of the character! :D

But of course what girl wouldn't fall for a prince who's madly in love with her, even if he didn't have a lovely accent (which he does!)? But alas there are no real-life Alistairs, and we should probably be glad but I can't argue my point because this is not the *Spoliers* forum! :(

Funny that's me to a T yet I am single.  My favorite breakup line received mind you is, "You're what every girl wants, and I must be crazy, but I don't want it with you..."

Sounds like most of the girls here are with the wrong guy.

So you are just like Alistair and no girl wants to be with you?

Erm...... *goes out of the thread to rofl in peace*

OMG all those girls lied to me?!?! I.....I....I....couldn't fathom why they'd do that.  Well at least we have this Darkspawn threat to vanquish.

LOL. That's cause Alistair is a Pus*y with a capital P! He works fine as a fairy tale prince in a fantasy setting, but I would wager that 99% of the fangirls here would not want to date a guy like that in real life. I mean do you really want a boyfriend who's awkward, nervous, whines and b*tches about everything, is incapable of making a single decision and unable to form a thought more complex than "what's for supper?" On my other play throughs, I thought Alistair was the cat's meow. I really fell for him, and with my first elven character was completely crushed when I saw the writing on the wall.  But this time around, he's not overly fond of me...and damn is he an ass! Even down to when I pick him in the group during a battle he's all, "Oh Alistair do this, Alistair to that"...or the everloving disgruntled, "What!?". UGH. Jerk. Suppose I'll have to appease him with presents to get him to stop being an **** haha

I see Alistair as awkward and nervous, but not whiny, b*tchy, indecisive, or stupid as you and others have described. Most games have a more experienced companion who lets you lead, but this game at least gives a reason why. What guys call "whiny" I call "sad."

Granted, I haven't played through this game as a male character, but I do think that if I were a guy and playing a male, he'd probably be annoyed with Alistair and keep Sten around instead. Another poster suggested that we become men and play a male character, so I suggest that the men who don't like him become women and play a female character. ;)

Haha, I think hip hop is Alistair's polar opposite, but still bad. Hip hop hates women. Alistair is one.

So I am being negative and insulting (in your opinion) about a pixel toon and now you are insulting me by calling me immature. Very mature, way to go.

I wouldn't say it's a matter of "wanting" a guy like Alistair.  Some of us "need" a guy like Alistair.

I already date a guy like this in real life.  My man is nervous, awkward, insecure, and finds it difficult to string a sentence together in a romantic setting.  However, he is also ideal for me as my more dominant personality overrides his flaws - if he can't speak, then I speak for him.  If he needs to move slowly, I plow ahead to make sure that the road is as painless for him as possible as he stays two steps behind me.  No doubt there are a lot of strong willed women out there who could do the same because they couldn't do it any differently, and if they used the same approach on a more assertive man it just wouldn't work beyond initial contact.

Hehe, I asked my gf if she'd date Alistair... great answer, "I already have a p*ssy"

Alistair is a great illustration why Matt Leinart will never be a good NFL Quarterback but Brett Favre, with half his talent, is a Hall of Famer.

Not sure if I'm reading this thread correctly, so please, please correct me if I'm wrong:

But are people actually breaking up with their boyfriends for Alistair, a fictional character?

People are breaking up with their boyfriends because of Twilight. Welcome to the modern era... in a world where people's minds are so open their brains have fallen out.

The guy who can't decide if he wants to retire or not, but still cries at every retirement press conference? Not that I have anything against Favre, I'm just saying.

If I could kill Twilight with my bare hands, I would. Edward is the very definition of a whiny, emo, douche.

I still can't get that Edward Cullen vibrator out of my head. :crying: And I'm scared now. Twilight has to have some sort of mind controlling device. I refuse to believe people are actually that crazy. >_>

Yeah. Some woman made a handmade vibrator out of the actor for Edward (I can't help but call him Cedric :P)

So like yeah.

This.
Im a very dominant female. Im most comfortable being in charge of important decisions. I like to be supportive or  useful for my man when things are rough for him, and I like to be strong enough to be counted on and decisive enough to be in total  command under pressure. God help anyone who tries to upset or stop or hurt him, they'd have to go through me to do it.
This ingrained control instinct in me goes best with a man like alistair. It causes a LOT of friction with men who are more dominant.

Holy crap!  This thread is still going?

This is hillarious.  The OP posts a question, then gets all pissy when she doesn't like people's answers.

Is Morrigan the perfect woman?  Far from it, but she doesn't deserve all the hate people throw at her.

Is Alistair worthless?  Well, I suppose I can see how he might appeal to some women, but he's definitely not on either extreme of the spectrum.

From my point of view, I don't think we could be friends IRL.  He is just far too whiny about everything.  He needs to man up.  Sure, there is a right way to treat women, but I don't think he does that out of any kind of conscious effort.  I think he just doesn't know what to do, so his timid shyness will probably wear off in short order, when he becomes the drunken loser who beats his woman as soon as he becomes comfortable being around her.

What? I'm the OP and Ididn't get pissy at all, I think you have the wrong person. Some people here really do get upset too easily. :3 I don't care if people don't like him, my question was more retorical than anything.

Morrigan would definetly not be my type, although I find her hilarious I don't think I'd be able to deal with her attitude. Some guy said earlier that Alistar was the type of man you'd marry and Zev was the type of guy you'd date, and I perfectly agree with that.

Interesting. I prefer the male to be dominant and being supportive gets oh so tiring because I've "been there, done that." Somehow I still like Alistair though. *shrug*
