Is it just me, or is Alistair the perfect guy?

Then you go and tell Ser Cauthrien (Loghains right hand) that everything the man she worships has been saying is a lie and asking Anora to confirm it! If I were in her shoes I'd do the same thing! She's trying to get out of the castle to get to get to Arl Eamon - not be put back into captivity by Loghains right hand.....

The only thing I really disliked was the whole "hardening" thing. We've spent the campaign narrowly escaping with our lives at Ostagar, fighting hordes of Darkspawn and Abominations, dealing with political intrigue, and suddenly he becomes a more jaded, cynical guy who's more willing to take a stand because his sister is a bad person? Didn't like the way that was handled.
I think in future games, we'll see a more determined, maybe even ruthless Alistair in a direct sequel. Being a King means making hard choices. Be careful fangirls, Alistair may not be the same guy you fell for the next time you see him.
I'm glad that "hardening" option didn't exist with Morrigan and Zevran. While they might change, their arc is more subtle.

In the end, I think everyone wants power. I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing, either.
The situation with the elves notwithstanding, she is the better ruler.

Alistaire is a very likable, far from perfect. A good buddie to have around when a good swordswinging is needed (although I've been more in the headcrushing area lately). Good sense of humour (important in a world that's already grim and gloomy). The last thing I need is more sarcasm / cynisism. I do somehow like him less when playing a mage (probably because he is a templar). I think you will probably like him the most when playing a templar yourself. Good times crushing spellcasters.

What do I like about him?
He was written well enough to let the player enjoy playing the game*

Here's another idea: I play rogue (melee DPS and main assist). With Alistair as my tank, I get to look him in the eyes for about 99% of every fight. While the two character archetypes are not an obvious match for each other, team roles dictate that they'll be working very closely together right in the middle of the action.
Think about it ladies - carving up threats to the kingdom and always staying in your very hunky tank's field of vision. It doesn't get much better than that, no?

LOL. That's cause Alistair is a Pus*y with a capital P! He works fine as a fairy tale prince in a fantasy setting, but I would wager that 99% of the fangirls here would not want to date a guy like that in real life. I mean do you really want a boyfriend who's awkward, nervous, whines and b*tches about everything, is incapable of making a single decision and unable to form a thought more complex than "what's for supper?"
I wouldn't say it's a matter of "wanting" a guy like Alistair. Some of us "need" a guy like Alistair.
I already date a guy like this in real life. My man is nervous, awkward, insecure, and finds it difficult to string a sentence together in a romantic setting. However, he is also ideal for me as my more dominant personality overrides his flaws - if he can't speak, then I speak for him. If he needs to move slowly, I plow ahead to make sure that the road is as painless for him as possible as he stays two steps behind me. No doubt there are a lot of strong willed women out there who could do the same because they couldn't do it any differently, and if they used the same approach on a more assertive man it just wouldn't work beyond initial contact.
And that's where I am with most women I end up romantically attracted to. When I am not attracted to the person or have them marked off as unavailable, lesbian, married etc. Is when I tend to shine as I am much more assertive and decisive with my stuff. Have nothing to lose.
Yet step onto that stage in the spotlight where every single word could derail the love train and suddenly I am like 12 again and all stuttery and nervous. It REALLY sucks.

>_>; and besides, he seems to be a little TOO 'good to be true' and quite frankly, I've started to get a little sick of him as a romance options. So many deviantart posts of
"AWWWW Alistair loves me and gave me his VIRGINITY 'cause I'm beautiful and have a ROSE and he's a king and I'm a queen and we live happily ever after LOLOL swooping is bad! Femcousland and Aly forever! ZEVRAN SUCKS WHAT A PERV oh and we're both grey wardens so we'll die together and have millions of babies and throw darts at loghains face 'cause he's just a BIGGO DOUCHEBAG!1"
Have really painted a negative image of him in my mind as a romance.
Personally, Alistair reminds me of a little brother

Lol, that was the guy with a flaming sword, right? I remember him
Back to the topic, I think that all characters in DA are very well written and likable... Alistair just happens to have few traits that girls find appealing, nothing wrong with that as far as I can see ^^ Morrigan is also pretty cool, altho I sometimes get bored of her being annoyed with so many things, just as some people get bored with Alistair crying

Morrigan seems to jsut be the stereotype of a tsundere, just without the noble upbringing, Leliana on the otherhand seems to be just bland.
It's just a shame that people like Alistair in rl tend to not get the attention and popularity that Alistair is getting >_>
edit
sorry about the double post
