See, I started to just say age, but maturity level varies for people.

It depends on what you've dealt with in your life, imo. Are you a college kid whose parents pay for everything (this is a rhetorical "you," by the way)? Do you have a mortgage? Kids? Have you ever been to a point where you weren't sure if you'd make it this month? Are you out of high school?

Some of those things make you more practical than others, and less romantic I'd wager.

Hm, fair. I suppose there is more than one type of maturity as well, when you look at it like that. One is the maturity that comes with responsibilty, and currently I admittedly have few of those (no kids, although I do pay my own rent, but yes I'm at uni ). The other kind, though, I equate with actually knowing what you're talking about, being able to think rationally and not just thinking about yourself all the time. In other words, immaturity would be the opposite to all that, which is what I thought I and others in this thread were being accused of.

Anyway, thanks for the elucidation :)

In real life Alistair would be attentive, kind and helpful to his girl. Grant her every request, be there for her etc..

Only later to come home and find a note saying that she left him for the dirt bag jobless a-hole guy she met at the bar.. the note saying she just needed a little excitment in her life.

:D What, little Alistair's extremely exciting!

By the way, not all girls are obsessed with bad boys.

And by the way (yes, another 'by the way'), has anyone noticed what a stupid expression Alistair pulls as he watches Daveth and Jory drink during the Joining? It cracks me up every time

I, personally, grew past the "bad boy" obsession after high school. Once the reality of the impossibility of a future with such guys set in, I realized I needed a charmer more than a 'tough guy.'

Jabber, lol, not all girls fall for the bad boys, I personally think the bad boys don't have much to offer really not even excitement..Just...a lonely heart and a lonely home. So have hope!

Oh and to stay on topic...Alistair does seem like the perfect guy. Lol...I love him and Leliana...>.> I think those two would be perfect for each other. XD

Lol, are you suggesting 30 is too young to be married, or that it's sad that you won't be married until 30?

I am a 19 year old student fending mostly for myself at the moment, and managing a long distance relationship which, after almost two years, only recently had some face-to-face time. I haven't been through a lot of "character-building" experiences but haven't gone through life thus far swimmingly. Just to give some background to where my opinion may be coming from, heh, since others seem to be doing so.

I already know how the thing goes with wanting an imperfect guy and seeing him perfectly, or wanting to change or better him - it may not be a phase all girls go through but I sure went through it. And Alistair definitely comes off as that, as he is a character who has room to develop throughout the story, and you assist with that. It's not hard to see where the charm is.

I apologize if I offended anyone in this thread, but I rather meant perfect for me. :)

People do get angry easily, however. No need to flame or be rude to the people who do fancy him. Does anyone have a link to the I hate Alistair thread? I'm interested to read it

Until then, go Alistair!

From a guys view alister is one of them spinless idiots that once you
give the right push here and there can become a great leader....it's
just getting him out of the spinless idiot mode that takes you all game
to do. If you weren't there tageing along at this side from the start
he would be dead back at the tower. While all along your the hero in
the back ground doing all the dirty work.....hmmmm does this remind any
one of anouther king and his right hand man?

And hey, to be realistic... If this was real life, I can assure you I would be in the same 'spinless' position. He's just a softie!

No he's not a softie...>STEN< is, just ask Lei.  I love listening to those to in there banter when I'm running around.  I do like Alister better after you harden him.  If i was to have a man crush on one of the guys it would be Sten...he likes kittens.....I mean he was just training it.

Though I have had some RL friends alot like Alister....in fact one use to work under me when I was the Leadman in the shop.  Now he's a leadman of a diffrent department.   He went from being the silent meek guy to giveing orders and running the show.

True, what better place? BioWare would be unlikely to approve, however...

Well . . . most men will tell you that marriage marks then end of your life.

It just depends on when you think you're done having fun. :)

Well if you thought that, then you'd be an utter fool to get married, no? I think marriage is unnecessary myself, and so the obvious solution is not to get married :D

Don't need a site to officially be a dating site, it's inevitable social sites will have at least one couple on them - I met my current boyfriend on a message board about Sonic the Hedgehog when looking for people to play online with on XBox Live. =P

Well, no offense to you gals but marriage actually looks like a good idea to a guy at first.

It's a lot like eating ice cream. When you start off it's awesome, everything is delicious and refreshing, but then you eat more and more until OH GOD BRAINFREEZE WHAT WAS I THINKING?!
