Uh.. yeah. Guy's shouldn't be a horses ass. Alistair strikes me as a guy who WOULDN'T say that.

I don't find it a particularly inspiring argument that Alistair be negatively judged on the basis of having a shred of couth.

Alistair's not an idiot but he is a bit immature. His personality doesn't suit his age (mid 20s?) or appearance. IRL we'd probably be bff. Seems like the type of guy who, after seeing you talk to a girl(heh preferably Morrigan), won't come up to you and say "hey when you gonna tap that?"

Because that's how every guy should be, am I right?

I agree. I think the kind of guys I like would like Alistair because of things like that.

I thought at first you had misunderstood me and now I'm sure of it.

I was using one specific example based on a recent experience. I meant to say that Alistair is a classy and genuine guy and that would make him a very good friend.

Heh, no problem. I reread what I posted and realized it wasn't very well written.

I'm operating on little sleep and poor-quality coffee. As such, I'm not a very discerning or comprehensive reader at the moment. 'sall good.

Holy crap!  This thread is still going?

This is hillarious.  The OP posts a question, then gets all pissy when she doesn't like people's answers.

Is Morrigan the perfect woman?  Far from it, but she doesn't deserve all the hate people throw at her.

Is Alistair worthless?  Well, I suppose I can see how he might appeal to some women, but he's definitely not on either extreme of the spectrum.

From my point of view, I don't think we could be friends IRL.  He is just far too whiny about everything.  He needs to man up.  Sure, there is a right way to treat women, but I don't think he does that out of any kind of conscious effort.  I think he just doesn't know what to do, so his timid shyness will probably wear off in short order, when he becomes the drunken loser who beats his woman as soon as he becomes comfortable being around her.

My problem is I have a crush on a video game character.

I tried going to AA (Alistairoholics Anonymous) but it hasn't worked. God save me.

There is no God..only the Maker...anyways! There is no need to be embarassed by the mere fact you like Alistair..he is such a sweetheart after all.

Hate to tell you this, but in real life, he would probably drive you nuts.

As i said elsewhere, I'm working on getting him to mature up. He's too....awkward at this moment.

I, too, find Alistair's awkwardness both endearing and comedic. I'm still baffled that most men in this thread place this stigma on guys who aren't exceedingly macho.

Because they do not understand. I think men who show this and even emotions...are great guys...I mean come on, not to cry when something sad happens just because "men don't cry" is bull****...I love Alistair...I think he is great.

lol.

Nah. I like him goofy and awkward. I don't mind him being whiny because I like helping people feel better when they feel badly or are having problems. I'm one of those annoying goody two-shoes. :P

Awkward with women is one thing, but awkward with other men?

It's not about being macho.  It's about not being useless.

"OMG!  It's my sister?  What do I say?  Do I talk to her?  Maybe I should.  No.  Maybe I shouldn't?  What do I do?!"

"What do I want for lunch?  Do I get a sandwich, or do I get soup?  Maybe I should get a half sandwich and a cup of soup!  OMG!  WHAT...DO...I...DO?!"

I think you exaggerate Alistair's incompetency. He's whiny, I'll give you that, but useless? I find that's highly inaccurate.

That has nothing to do with why Alistair annoys me.

I have no problem with tears over sad/sentimental things.  I teared up a little at the end of Avatar, and don't get me started on Everybody's Fine.  What I didn't do was stand there for fifteen minutes, at the ticket counter, agonizing over whether or not I should see the movie.
