I, too, find Alistair's awkwardness both endearing and comedic. I'm still baffled that most men in this thread place this stigma on guys who aren't exceedingly macho. 

Count me in on this too. Couple that with the fact that he knows he's awkward, and it's even more adorable.

I tried going to AA (Alistairoholics Anonymous) but it hasn't worked. God save me.

There is no God..only the Maker...anyways! There is no need to be embarassed by the mere fact you like Alistair..he is such a sweetheart after all.

Hate to tell you this, but in real life, he would probably drive you nuts.

In my opinion, Alistair is shy (granted, that's not bad), won't make the first move (in RL, not the greatest), awkward (depending what you like, might not be bad), can't make up his mind (would drive me up the wall), is a gentleman (this one isn't bad at all), and wants to be led (might actually be considered a doormat in RL), and doesn't quite have that much of a backbone (again, not the greatest). But he does have a good sense of humor.

Does your fiance really act this way?

Useless? Not at all. As for his sister, I think he's like that because it's the only family he's ever had. He really doesn't know what to do, how to act or anything like that. He knows how to behave in an Arl's household and he knows how to be schooled by the Chantry, but he doesn't have any idea what to do with family. And you're the first person he's ever trusted with that information. So yeah, he's questioning you because he really doesn't know.

Again, I feel you exaggerate Alistair's shortcomings, and again I'll grant you that he's often a "bumbling idiot... all hands..." But how, nay why, is that a bad thing? Your apparent disdain for Alistair is one thing, but to discount WHY other people may find him to be the converse of your assumptions is foolish--and many may say that the 'flaws' you have mentioned are exactly WHY they like Alistair.

Trust me, I tried to kill him, but the game wouldn't let me.

I just leave him in camp with Sten and Zevran while I go around with Morrigan, Leliana, and Wynne.

I figure he and Zevran need as much alone time as they can get while Sten is off picking flowers.
