Count me in on this too. Couple that with the fact that he knows he's awkward, and it's even more adorable.cmathews03 wrote...

I, too, find Alistair's awkwardness both endearing and comedic. I'm still baffled that most men in this thread place this stigma on guys who aren't exceedingly macho.
Is it just me, or is Alistair the perfect guy?

My problem is I have a crush on a video game character.
I tried going to AA (Alistairoholics Anonymous) but it hasn't worked. God save me.
There is no God..only the Maker...anyways! There is no need to be embarassed by the mere fact you like Alistair..he is such a sweetheart after all.
Hate to tell you this, but in real life, he would probably drive you nuts.
As i said elsewhere, I'm working on getting him to mature up. He's too....awkward at this moment.
Actually...he's my fiance XDXD That is how my fiance acts like....I just crack up. I think it is cute....lol.
In my opinion, Alistair is shy (granted, that's not bad), won't make the first move (in RL, not the greatest), awkward (depending what you like, might not be bad), can't make up his mind (would drive me up the wall), is a gentleman (this one isn't bad at all), and wants to be led (might actually be considered a doormat in RL), and doesn't quite have that much of a backbone (again, not the greatest). But he does have a good sense of humor.
Does your fiance really act this way?
again, this is how I enterpret Alistair.

Useless? Not at all. As for his sister, I think he's like that because it's the only family he's ever had. He really doesn't know what to do, how to act or anything like that. He knows how to behave in an Arl's household and he knows how to be schooled by the Chantry, but he doesn't have any idea what to do with family. And you're the first person he's ever trusted with that information. So yeah, he's questioning you because he really doesn't know.EJ42 wrote...
Awkward with women is one thing, but awkward with other men?
It's not about being macho. It's about not being useless.
"OMG! It's my sister? What do I say? Do I talk to her? Maybe I should. No. Maybe I shouldn't? What do I do?!"
"What do I want for lunch? Do I get a sandwich, or do I get soup? Maybe I should get a half sandwich and a cup of soup! OMG! WHAT...DO...I...DO?!"

Probably because he was about that age when he was sent to the Chantry. Doesn't leave much time for growing up.EJ42 wrote...

Again, I feel you exaggerate Alistair's shortcomings, and again I'll grant you that he's often a "bumbling idiot... all hands..." But how, nay why, is that a bad thing? Your apparent disdain for Alistair is one thing, but to discount WHY other people may find him to be the converse of your assumptions is foolish--and many may say that the 'flaws' you have mentioned are exactly WHY they like Alistair.

Men just don't like it when even characters on a game are better than them. If something will effect how they get ladies, they get mad.

I just leave him in camp with Sten and Zevran while I go around with Morrigan, Leliana, and Wynne.
I figure he and Zevran need as much alone time as they can get while Sten is off picking flowers.

I don't dislike him for the way he acts toward women.
I dislike him because of the way he acts toward my character (male).
He's annoying, especially the way he talks to my women (Morrigan or Leliana during a romance). It's just dumb.

And generalize much.
