the soundtrack from the DAO party camp is one of my favourites, really sets the mood when talking with your crew ;>

if they had the Hans Zimmer+Lisa Gerrard combo that did Gladiator's soundtrack i think i would actually die.

That alone would sell the game.

I'm not hugely upset about this, but I hope they won't throw the baby out with the bathwater and push away things like "In Uthenera"

How reliable is that source?

"Fan claims she talked to a composer, retells conversation from memory without notes"

Could be true, but I'll wait for some other confirmation.

There's no "claim" about it, she went to a composers event and met him. There's pictures of her and Ion Zur on her Twitter page if you REALLY need proof that she and Ion actually met. Regardless, as a friend of said YouTuber I can confirm that she did indeed meet and talk to him.

As for what he said to her, regardless of whether she took notes or not I doubt she would forget an exchange like that. She also mentions in the video not to take this as gospel because nothing has been confirmed yet.

I hope we get some more memorable ambient music in DA3. I loved the music from Calenhad Docks, the Hawke Family Theme, and the Hanged Man's theme and the music for the elves, but most of time I didn't even know there was music. I generally like it when there's something playing in the background when I explore a town or dungeon, and I can't even remember if DA has that.

And I last played one of the games yesterday.

Well if I'm honest I felt the Dragon Age II score, whilst it had some highlights, didn't quite have as many notable moments as the Origins score.

Inon Zur's a solid composer but do I think he's irreplacable? In all honestly no.

Always a shame to see original contributors replaced, but one of the first things I do in a game is turn the music off anyway, unless the music has an in-game source (which hasn't been the case anywhere in DA yet that I remember) it just annoys me; if I'm listening to music during a game it'll be my own and it'll probably be because I'm bored of whatever I'm doing in-game.

Wouldn't make the least bit of difference to me who composes, unless I'm overlooking part of the role (entirely possible).

Meh, it doesn't worry me. I would think, however, that a game less than a year from projected release would already have chosen a composer or team thereof as well as had him/her/them hard at work.

Get Jeremy Soule perhaps? Or how about Jack Wall?

I still can hum songs from Jade Empire,  (Jack Wall), and that was 2007 when it was released. I didn't find DA:O and DA:2's music so memorable.

Mixed feelings about this if true. I loved a lot of his tracks to pieces - the only parts of the soundtrack that didn't grab me in either game were the battle themes. Everything else was golden in my book.

At the very least I hope they bring back Aubrey Ashburn to work with any hypothetical replacement composer. It wouldn't be the same without her voice.

What did Clint Mansell compose for mass effect 3 ??? He keeps popping out in this Inon Zur thread something about one song ???

I don't mind Inon Zur's music, but if they can create a soundtrack that has as much of an emotional effect on me as ME3's did, I will definitely not say no.

I don't mind so much, seeing as we're (allegedly) switching locations in DA:I and I imagine the Orlesian musical tone will be different than the Fereldan/Kirkwall one.

If I had to chose a replacement: Yann Tiersen.

Maybe DA2 left a sour taste in Zur's mouth as well. I remember him saying that the music score for DA2 was like the rest of the game: a rush job.

I would like to hear Jeremy Soule like in the former glory days of Bioware, but after DA2 and the discussion about ME3 I'm not sure if he wants to work with Bioware. It could backfire on his reputation if DA3 is again a failure.

Liked Inon Zur's work in both games. Is it me or he managed to combine arabic and nordic sounds in DA2?

If it was his decision to leave the project - sad.
If he'll stay - exited about hearing a new country.
If it was decision of someone in BW/AE - I wish Inon good fortune and a long successful career. (Hoping to hear him in/on other games/movies/stages)

Clint Mansell composed the title track ("Leaving Earth" on the soundtrack).

And he at least partially composed the final song prior to the credits "An end once and for all".

On topic: It'd be a shame if Inon Zur doesn't return. I loved his work on Dragon Age Origins and some of the DA2 songs were actually quite good as well, although they too suffered from the way too short development time just like the game itself. I wonder what he'd have in store for DA:I given enough time though I'm sure it'd be awesome.

I don't find much of his music for DA all that memorable to be honest, so I don't really mind if he's not composing. At the same time, I just hope we don't get someone along who just completely kills the game's mood with inappropriate music.
