Alright, so help me out... somebody please... What is the situation regarding Thane in the upcoming dlc? Are fans still just speculating? Or is there solid information on this matter?

thane remains dead, but thane fans do get exclusive content.  as for what that content is, total mystery!

Thank you!!! I started developing a headache shortly after the Zombie Thane hissy fit.

Is Thane worth romancing in ME2? I'm replaying the game and want to romance someone other than Garrus this time. Thane has a certain appeal to him but his ME3 fate makes me wonder.

I guess we'll see what kind of acknowledgement he gets in this DLC. Though anything is a step up from Garrus, Joker and EDI forgetting his existence post-Coup.

There's no point romancing Thane period anymore. I deleted my Thane ormance pt a year ago, it's done. You might as well stick with Garrus and remeber Thane as he was in ME2. A well written character.

That's too bad.  Oh well.  I would be setting myself up for disappointment after being spoiled with Garrus.

I do hope this DLC gives some kind of resolution for you Thanemancers.  I doubt we'll be able to save him :(

yeah, it's been confirmed that he won't.  apparently they can risk zombie appearances from jack, miranda, jacob, ashley, kaidan, etc., but thane can only be dead because they don't want us to have to replay their ****ty game

This all just demonstrates what happens when you change writers mid-game. If Chris L'Etoile wrote Thane in ME3 as well, we wouldn't be banging our heads against the wall in threads like this. Whoever took over and wrote the character in ME3 obviously had no idea what they were doing.

Matter of fact, even disregarding Thane, Chris' absence REALLY shows in ME3.

I'm still baffled as to why Chris never became lead after Drew. I mean, the guy co-created the entire MEverse with Drew (he's responsible for a lot of its more cynical and grittier aspects), wrote every single Primary Codex entry in ME1, and wrote some of the most flawed and interesting characters in ME1 and 2.
I also found his ideas for synthetic life a hell of a lot better and more original than whoever wrote EDI and the Geth in ME3.

Patrick shoulds have been lead, but that's a whole new can of worms.

Patrick would have been a great lead writer too. He seems really passionate about the MEverse and respects it. I simply meant that Chris was the most obvious choice for lead due to his massive contribution in the creation of the series.
I'm still not sure what it was that SuperMac did that landed him the position of lead in ME2 and 3. Was writing ME1 Garrus really that great of an accomplishment?

I remember Bioware was at some Convention and Thane's ME3 writer was discussing how he was so exicted to write an assassin (This convention was post release, mind you) and how he did Thane justice and wanted to write EDI too.

Chris wrote EDI too.

I think he said he also wanted Samara, but Sylvia ended up getting her, along with Liara.

In any event, hopefully there's enough Thane content in the upcoming DLC that at least some people will be able to enjoy it, even if the character is sadly ruined for others.

Nope, but you got Garrus and Garrus is awesome. :) My Shepard could never romance him because of how sibling-like I have built them up in my head. It'd be like Jaime/Cersei levels of gross. He's basically blood and kin to my Shepard now and his content in the games has always been great, so at least there is that.

If you still want to romance Thane, I'd just play through 2 and headcanon from there. His romance was well done in ME2, in my opinion, and even non-romanced, Thane was a very interesting, nuanced character. I just wouldn't do it and expect much to come of it if you import that Shep into 3.

@SilentK: Even as a non Jacobmancer, I agree with you. When someone told me about that 'Your real love is the Normandy' line, I was quite angry. Especially as it doesn't seem like you get an option to really refute that statement. (Someone correct me if I'm wrong.) Jacob's entire treatment in ME3 was insulting to his romancers, in my opinion.

I do apologize for using the term "zombie-Thane".  I did not mean to be disrespectful.  I was just trying to say that we couldn't bring him back from the dead.  This pack will most likely be played from people's auto-save made just before the assault on the Illusive Man's base, well after Thane has passed on.  We don't want to force players to play the game completely over to see new content.  We are adding to your story, not changing what you've already experienced in the past.

That said, we tried to make a positive experience for those who romanced Thane.  We'll see in a week if you think that was successful or not.

Your company released Kasumi and Zaeed DLC's in ME2 which affected WHOLE game even if the most of players "would" play it after the autosave in tha aftermath of Suicide Mission. Your company released "From Ashes" which affects the whole game, but also can be installed and played right before assault on Cerberus Base. Your company released "Bring Down the Sky" which can't be played in the last autosave. All of those examples strongly encourage you to replay the game from the beginning to see new content. And now... Now you give the worst excuse Bioware ever did, I must say it's even worse than "artistic integrity", because you contradict yourself (as a company).

If Bioware employee actually said that ME3 is a one-time playthrough, it's over for me. Completely over. However, I do not think you actually meant it.

I think you could not say truth - you decided that the ammount of work, time and money to fix Thane's story and save him, was simply not worth it. You were in a situation where you could ignore the issue and witness even greater rage upon release of DLC, tell blatant infuriating truth or come up with lame excuse, which you did in the end. I must say, your choice was the best one. Thank you for that and any small content you added for thanemancers, but Bioware showed it's face again and I do not like it. At all.

Pretty sad to wonder how ME3 mightve gone down if valuable writers stayed + proper development time was allotted + higher ups stopped trying to fool themselves into thinking new players could jump
into a trilogy 2/3rds of the way through. So much lost potential from every possible avenue.

I just got the "you're in love with the ship" thing while on my Garrus romancing infiltrator. She wanted to say "lolno that's Joker, I love Garrus."

Nawp. Can't have her stand up for herself, can we? Still bitter she apologized to Kaidan for being with Garrus, who she loves. I LIKE Kaidan, my canon male Shepard romanced him in 3 and I loved it, but good gods... really?

My adept.. ugh. Still don't want to continue with her yet until I find out if the tiny miniscule Thane content will be worth anything. Might just head-canon everything after 2 for her.

Guys, can we try to not get this thread shut down? Dusty didn't have to say, do or confirm anything as the DLC's out in just a few days. He apologized for the off-color comment and gave us the information we were asking for re: Thane's potential cure.

I seriously believe Thane would have had one of the most fulfilling romance arcs had L'etoile stayed... but hey! you can't fault his writer for jumping a sinking ship.

edit:

Ramiri1,
I'm a Thane fan through and through, and I was crushed when I played ME3! :? So honestly, your comment makes no sense. I really did start to develop a headache over the excessive rehashing of that one comment innocently made by somebody else... lol...oh god... I wasn't talking about people's legitimate anger and frustration about Thane being swept out of the story, like it was nothing. I was talking about the excessive rehashing of a comment, "Zombie  Thane" made earlier. Wow, once again it was taken completely out of context. :pinched:

In DAO, if I worked hard, I got to keep my LI and not have him betray me (or kill him before he become an LI). I got the option to betray and kill my other LI. I got the option to convince my LI not to fight me when I did something absolutely profane and horrendous. In DA2, I got the option to save my LI from a slaver. I got the option to protect my terrorist LI from another party member (or kill him- options!!).

In ME, I don't get the option to pursuade my LI not to betray and leave me, nor do I get the option to save my LI.

I think David Gaider has a much better grasp on the situation than some of the writers in ME, and it's just mind boggling that other fans don't get it at all.

He wanted to write Samara. I don't think Liara was up for grabs.

Sylvia wrote most of Liara in LotSB, and she wrote Liara completely in ME3 (I don't think Patrick was involved). She also wrote Samara (including the monastery mission), the conversation you can have with Legion on the ship, the two side missions on Rannoch, I think about a third or so of the minor Citadel conversations (including the Shepard VI and refund guy), and most of the war asset descriptions.

But she left the team before ME3 even shipped (she moved to the DA team). A new writer handled Liara for this DLC (though Sylvia has said that she got to see the writing and really liked it).

dreaming - They don't get it because they don't care. There are copious supporters of Jack and Miranda content, both of whom received far better treatment than Thane. When it comes to Broshep LIs, apparently a fulfilling, well-written romance is to be expected. No one fights over Jack and Miranda the way they fight over Thane and Jacob.

I know :/ Everyone gets pissed if you kill Miranda, Jack, or Tali, but if it's Kaidan or Thane, no one gives a flip. Pretty sure it's because Kaidan is a fem LI or a gay LI, and because Thane is fem LI, neither of which are large enough demographics for people to care about. I really can't stand Miranda at all, but I sure never thought people who liked her should have less.

And hey, they get the option to sodding save her or not. Same with Jack and Tali. But how dare Thane romancers want the same ****ing option.

Ugh, this is making me so angry.

:D:D:D  look I'm a Thane fan through and through, and I was crushed when I played ME3! But  then shortly after, this crazy thing called life happened:O and guess what? I was forced to deal with  more important matters. So don't be bitter by the fact that some fans know how to put things into  perspective. I'm not going to encourage your moping... instead I'll let you in on how I got over it. ;)

I used my imagination to Create my own ending. Whenever i play the game, I just insert my tailored made ending, and then when I come to the forums to find out useful information, I'm not so overly emotional.... and I can be this thing called, RATIONAL

You're not going to encourage their moping  but you are going to mock them? Cool story bro. Still smells like trolling.
