We don't need you to tell us the truth. We know the truth.
Do you think you are doing us some kind of favor?

Or you could be more open minded about why we're upset. It's not like Bioware flashed a DO NOT TOUCH-TEMPORARY ONLY sticker on Thane. Why make him into a LI (one that they actually went around and got female feedback on) only to kill him off (badly) in the next game? It's stupid and it pisses people off.

What does romancing Liara have to do with Anything? I mean, I really don't belong here, I am an Ashmancer (lol) but Thane was like a brother, I wouldn't call him a criminal given the choice, but the point Shepard made was pretty strong. Thane lived with guilt, and did dark stuff, but he got one of the most heroic death in the series. He should have registered for the Combat Simulator before death. (Wait, are the people we play with in there VI's, who are made to replicate our Squadmates who registered earlier, or are our Squadmates hanging around the arcade waiting for us to call them?)

Charging a freaking sword when you have a gun isn't heroic. It's just dumb.

Oh right. I like to pretend Kai Leng managed to disable everybody's gun with his implants.
Also, what he died for was pretty heroic. Sacrificing himself to get Salarian support for the war/save a highly respected figure (which are not supposed to be replaced in times of war)
He didn't have long to live anyway, sadly.

Funny how this thread gets so much more activity when people are given the opportunity to rehash the same year-old arguments over and over again.

That don't look disabled to me.

And he gets replaced with Kirrahe if you don't visit him first.  Not exactly unique.  But meh, I'm not going down this argument AGAIN for the 89273498723489723948734 time.

Running out of clips, Leng is too fast to hit far distance, as an assassian, he may be better with a sword.
Not unique maybe, never said it was,but he saves Kirrahe as well, if you do, and gives us 20 more war assessts (Kirrahe's.)

That's the problem with a chracter that doesn't have much content. Also no one had done a romanced playthrough so if you have somethng you would like to discuss go ahead. No one is stopping you.

As someone who made it through the DLC with Shepard who romanced Thane I can say that my Shepard got unique options/lines during the memorial speech (unique as in 'different from what I have seen on youtube so far'). The paragon option doesn't say anything about him being a criminal, no. Shepard mentioned that Thane fell in love with Irikah because she risked her life to protect someone she barely knew, and so he did himself while protecting the Councilor.

Then, should you choose a paragon option again, she says that is the reason she loves Thane, and she doesn't expect this -- her feelings -- to change. Her voice breaks a little, and she cuts the speech off.

As for messages, the first one is different: Thane uses 'Siha' instead of 'Shepard', and says 'I love you' in the end. There is also a fourth, romance-specific, and Shepard cries while listening to it.

Aww.  Sounds like the funeral part seems nice.  Is there any dialogue difference when speaking to Kolyat?

No, the dialogue with Kolyat remains the same.

So very disappointed right now. So, Bioware obviously only "listens" when it means they don't have to repair the mistakes they have made. classy.
*MEH* I don't even have enough energy left in me to get angry anymore.

Oh well. Stepmom Shepard and Kolyat stuff would've been so great. Is there any difference at all between the first 3 non-romanced and romanced videos aside from the "Siha/Love you"?

Not a Thane fan myself, but I liked what content was based on him, but I already liked his outcome anyway.

I was just a little sad that they didn't do it a little more significant. They had all the voice actors, where was Miranda, Jacob, Jack, Zaeed, Kasumi, Kelly and Grunt?
The one I had been looking forward to talking the most was Jacob mentioning that thane was not "just and assassin."
Also the counsilor, I thought he could have at least say a heartfelt "thank you."

Another note is that I had hopen it would occur as a honorable mention with Mordin and Legion or any other deaths along the way, but I guess that would take the personal stuff out of it.

Heh, it's been a year and I still despise the series because of the ending. A nice glimmer of hope with this new dlc only to discover they rehash Thane's death. Yay bioware.

You suck.

There's also a moment in the last scene of the DLC where Shepard talks to Thane; it's done in a similar fashion as the talk with Hawke's mother in Legacy. I admit I wasn't really moved by the video messages--I was distracted by the fact that those really, really should have been in the main game--but that moment choked me up. I still want the option to have Shepard talk things through with a squad member, or to have her throw in casual mentions of the deceased squad mates at the party, but the content given was decent. It's just marred by the terrible content he has in the vanilla game--hard to get excited about a memorial service that should have been in the main game, especially in the middle of such a happy, silly DLC.

At least Thane got his desert vacation that he and Shepard talked about. The fact that he took it in New Mexico when Shepard was locked up in Vancover kind of stings, but at least he got to talk about something other than his illness.

Maybe there is some subtle change in the first message besides that -- in my case Thane said he regrets leaving the Normandy, if I remember correctly. The second and third messages are the same, though.

Wait, can you clarify that first part?  The last scene as in, the one overlooking the Normandy?

Yes... it's a shame that all of this would've been so much better in the game itself, and that the terrible dialogue in the hospital/on his deathbed stays as is.  Then again, everything I've seen today was much more than I was expecting.  I hope those who romanced him enjoy it.

I understand that Thane sent messages to Shep romanced or not, but it would've been nice having the videos LI-exclusive IMO.

And thank you Big stpid jellyfish (heh), sorry for pestering you about it!

It's in the very last scene of the DLC, after the party. Shepard and the crew will look out at the Normandy, ready to board it again, and after a word from Joker, he and the squad will move on to the Normandy, leaving Shepard alone on the Citadel. Thane will appear to the left of her, and they have a brief, auto-dialog conversation. Shepard will mention that she wishes he had been at the party, Thane will state that he is always with her, and when she finally goes across the sea, he will meet her at the shore. Combined with the music and the gorgeous shot of the Normandy, it ended up being a powerful scene. One of the few moments of Mass Effect 3 that actually choked me up, especially since I didn't see it coming.

I should mention that I played this with a Shepard who hadn't moved on--I'm not sure you would get this if you chose another LI.

I... That is very weird. I did play as Shepard who didn't move on, but she returned to the Normandy along with everyone else.

Would it be possible for you to post a screenshot, maybe?

Sure, give me a moment. Maybe it's in the timing? I completed this almost directly after the coup--only stopped to finish Zaeed's mission and recruit Tali.
