Guess I'll see how it plays out when I do my Thane LI playthrough.
And as for killing characters etc. I know fans would feel themselves "screwed over" or something, but that's simply the character's story. Not everyone can get a happy ending (yeah, Thane and Jacob were the ones who were not so lucky...but seriously, ME2 already hinted at it).
I surely as hell don't feel as strongly as some of you for Thane (or any character for that matter), but just, try to enjoy the story for what it is.

The fourth video was really, really sweet. It does an adequate job addressing his regressed character development. Seems like they genuinely tried to please here, don't really see what they couldve added. Such a shame the core ME3 content will never be fixed, but I'm happy with this.

On my phone so I can't post a link, but the LI content is finally on youtube. If you cant find it through search, check the tag on Tumblr.

There's a fourth one if he was your LI? Cool!

Trying to enjoy the story, that just does not like it - this is stupid.
I've been waiting for this game for many years, I spent many hours in ME1 and ME2. I was hoping that the story of my Shepard completed and I will remember about the game with a smile and happy. I was one of the most loyal fans. I loved the character, which was created specifically for women. BW promised much, but in ME3 I got nothing.
I was hoping this DLC would give me the opportunity to enjoy the game for which I paid the money, but it did not. I am totally disappointed.
Burn in hell, BW!
EA, you will no longer get my money!
* hopefully turns to Ubisoft and Bethesda *

I'm glad Thane got some justice, it looks like Bioware really tried that, but I'm still keeping my Thane save in headcanon land since ME2.

So let me get this straight
(I'm drunk and my drunk boyfriend (major Thane brocrush)is in fetal posiotion on the floor)
IS THERE A THANE GHOST???????
What?=????!!?
How is that....? I don't even.... What?????
Now it's just ridiculous.
They say: saving Thane is unrealistic, we can't give him a magical cure
We say: lung transplant or finding and using that eupulmos device isn't space magic, it's a solution that could work in ME Universe
They say: ... Actually, they ignore us and say again that "curing" Thane would be unrealistic and the whole purpose of this character was to die.
Citadel DLC comes out,
and what we see in game? A ghost! A ghost in sci -fi game. It's more realistic that what we wanted. Sure. This is just stupid. I shouldn't be surprised after the endings, but hey, I thought they'd learn from their mistakes, at least a bit.
I've already predicted a few pages ago that we will get to see a ghost of Thane and I commented that it would be lame.
Now, it's nice they prepared something for someone that plays the game to get depressed and always believed that Thane had to die. At least they got something that might be even called a good content if you believe in ghosts.
This should be in the game, but still at least someone didn't get shafted.
If I had an option to save Thane, I would propably have also a save with his death, but using different Shepard.
I'm glad Thane gets some recognition this time. He deserved at least that in this game.
But it doesn't change the fact that everyone gets something positive and we get more tears and heartbreak. There's still the broken content that's earlier in the game. Citadel DLC may have added something that adds a new light to those events, but... the bitter taste still remains. I haven't checked it, but since it was said that DLC changes nothing outside of it, then propably there's still no option to tell Thane that we're visiting him, not VS. No occasion for Sheaprd to say she loves him. No conversation outside talking about the illness. No last date. And Garrus still tells his line about not adding anyone to the memorial wall. Thane's disease is still changed, Shepard does nothing when he fights Kai Leng, and Thane still jumps on the sword. Kirrahe still doesn't appear and help him, even though it's logical that he should be there.
There was something in the memorial scene about Thane...that he knew his end is nearing and decided to end it by sacrificing himself. So he gave up. One may call it a heroic act and there's truth in that, but he also gave up that time. He didn't need to charge Kai Leng. If he lived a little longer, perhaps he would be able to live long enough for a cure or a treatment.
If there was an option to stop him there, there would be two paths:
- the one that is in game and Citadel DLC
- the second one, where Thane survives but his future fate is uncertain, where he subscribes for a lung transplant and where because of war, an opportunity for transplantation shows up. Where he might live longer and is sent to Kahje (for example) for a treatment and sends some letters. Where he sends Shepard the vids she never received before. Where they talk for the last time before the beam run. Where it's left up to us, what is Shepard's and Thane's fate after the War.
It's simple. And maybe some people would still prefer the emotional goodbye scene and a funeral and letting Thane go back to Irikah.
Don't tell me it's impossible and unrealistic. And if you plan to argue, then I'm happy that BioWare gave me the opportunity to say this: There's a ghost in a sci-fi game, the endings, the genophage cure, the Lazarus Project and quarians adapting quicker than they thought was possible. No need to elaborate this.
There was an opportunity to make everything right, to add a difficult choice especially for someone, who believes that Thane would only delay the inevitable and lose the chance to end it quickly, with more dignity. For those hopeful people, Thane would be alive, but his fate unsure. It would be bittersweet, but with a tiny ray of hope.
I'm sorry, but I can't enjoy the DLC or this game anymore. ME3 is done for me. I can't count on BioWare anymore. Not only they ignored us and let others troll us and treat like we were worse than them, but they also encouraged it, by supporting only those who said there's only one purpose of Thane in this game: dying. Save Thane campaign was ignored and so were the fans who supported it. And if someone says that Thane should live, BioWare can only ignore them or treat cold, as though we were someone who is not welcomed here. Still we are treated like someone whose opinion is wrong.
Now I can only count on fans who have modding and writing skills.
Perhaps I will be able to finish the game with my canon Shepard then. I still believe in an option and I refuse to let Thane die in my game.

Edit: This does not include the scene where Thane appears next to Shepard at the end. Only the memorial and the video messages. Also, the video is not mine.

Regarding the last scene: it might not be a ghost. Perhaps Shepard is simply imagining him there or something. I haven't seen it yet but the whole "ghost" aspect is probably not meant to be taken seriously.
Maybe, but it's still lame as hell. If that was supposed to be something nice... people tend to forget that Thane is with Irikah after his death, if there is any afterlife. For those who do not believe in that...well, there is nothing, no consolation, no hope.
No, the DLC doesn't make Thane's death right, but at least it's not as insulting as the content in original game.

I'm confident that Shepard was just imagining it. She doesn't even feel the need to look at him, she knows its in her head. I thought it was very well done, though. If Bioware had given the original ME3 Thane content the care they did for these DLC extras, I really doubt his treatment would have been an issue. Certain components will always be stupid, but for the most part I think the romance is finally bearable now.

I don't think I will ever understand why they didn't put in the effort to begin with. Anyway, the DLC may make it bearable post-coup, but it's not enough to make me want to play pre-coup to get to the acceptable DLC content. I'm glad some Thane fans got something out of it though.

I'm a Tailmancer too and after my Shepard spoke, I had Tali, Garrus, Samara, and Joker speak on Thane's behalf finally followed by Koylat.CronoDragoon wrote...
Just curious: I don't know how the funeral goes for Thanemancers but as a Talimancer, after Shepard spoke Tali gave this heartfelt line about Thane, along with Garrus, and maybe someone else. Is there a rhyme or reason to who speaks about Thane at the memorial? I guess it would be limited to ME2 squadmates come to think of it, heh.
Speaking of which, where exactly do I find Thane's vid messages that he left Shepard? (not seeing anything on the private messages terminal)

I heard that ME3 production was cut something like 8 months? Maybe that's just a rumour but I've always figued that was one of the bigger reasons for both Thane and Jacob getting shafted. I know what you mean, though - all things considered, the other Femshep romances are still handled much better. You shouldn't have to pay $15 just to get an adequate conclusion to a character's death and romance plotline.

Wait.... I haven't played the DLC, but I saw the video of the funeral and Shepard leaving and seeing Thane... does Kolyat stay on the Citadel still o.O ?
I assume so, but Shepard only has that conversation with him. We don't get anything else with Kolyat.
