the "stand and watch" bit is used multiple times to force the plot in a certain direction too and it's so obnoxious

the kaidan/ashley scene on mars, for example

immersion breaking and dumb

I am curious about something. We never see Thane die... And, if you have the (spoilers)

The party in the DLC. Why was the Doc called away on a ER consolation? Hmmm... An interesting theory, anyway.

I keep hoping. I have no idea why. Thane was the only Li for Fem Shep, that was True, loyal, sure of his feelings, and found a reason to live.

Kaidan (D-bag always questioning Shep with the most lame dialogue ever) Or Garrus, who is my bro and BFF!

Female players really got the poop end of the stick. And the one Li that was not a d-bag, was taken away. Sighs.

Or Vega, who was hands off... Oh, the irony.

He impaled himself as much as Caesar "fell" on his assassins' daggers. *Eyeroll* Leng feinted a move, Thane fell for it & Leng succeeded. Maybe his biotics were exhausted? This is a guy who just now told you that running was difficult for him. Never mind long combat.

As for Shepard & CO not interfering....close combat is difficult to break up. I agree, it's not the best blocking of a scene I've ever seen. But I've seen worse in ME1&2.

Well Kai Leng is basically a walking obnoxious plot device

"Cover me while i recharge" - you get a helicopter in your face supposedly blinding you but did anyone think that by simply flanking it you not only avoide the blinding light in your face but also get to Leng haning out in the shade, "rechargning" and maybe shoot him? But no, when you shoot him his health stays on the same level becuase the plot needs him alive here. There are much subtler and smarter ways to slap a plot armor on the character or make the protagonist feel like they are powerless against the said character. It was simply clunky and unconvincing and all around badly done.

And Thane scene apart frommaking little sense on some levels was awfully animated. I thought the whole game really dropped a level in animation quality since ME2

*Sighs*

I miss the old Thane Threads. Less vitriol and more acceptance there.

I love Thane, I have done so since 2010. But as a Thanemancer, it seems like my very own corner in the fandom is snarling at me over actually loving him in ME3 too. And being moved by his final stand. And sobbing my heart out over the Citadel content.

I'll still feel that way though. I never expected a happy ending.

I agree that Thane...made a foolish mistake he shouldn't have done and pretty much committed suicide. Thane is the best assassin in the galaxy. He does not "fall for it". He knows how to fight. His charge on Kai Leng was stupid. And my canon Shep is a vanguard. She would save Thane at that moment. She would help him.

You're not alone. This was exactly what I wanted regarding Thane. I knew the romance would end tragically--that's why I chose it. Citadel gives me the validation I craved, effectively promoting him to full LI.

if they'd wanted to demonstrate that thane's illness was affecting his abilities, they should have shown that through animations rather than relying on the audience to project that onto the situation; that's clearly ****ty writing and blocking and shows that they had an end in mind without caring much how they got to it.

and someone previously characterized as "THE UNIVERSE'S BEST ASSASSIN" would not have fallen for such an obvious move, nor would they have left themselves OPEN like that.  you're talking about a dude, who when you first met him, tore his way through a massive corporation singlehandedly and still accomplished assassinating his target despite merc presence and shepard's interference, this occurring all the while he's balls deep into his illness.  kai leng, on the otherhand, ate cereal in someone's appartment.  coooooooooooooooooooooooool, i am so convinced of this character's LEGIT ABILITIES

and re: the biotics: if his biotic abilities were truly exhausted, this is, again, something that bioware should have highlighted; otherwise it looks as shoddy as it actually is.

this argument has been had to death and it's beyond me that there are still people who insist on defending a scene that was obviously so poorly implemented.  bioware cut corners with thane's entire arc and it shows.  they admittedly forgot that he was an LI and that the crew as well as shepard should be saying something about his death, so what makes anyone think that thane was given proper treatment in any other light?

and as for miranda...her death was optional lmao gtfo

y'all need to quit

Its a good theory but I cant really see it as plausible. Also, yes female players get less LI's and it sucks but dont resort to bashing the remaining LI's cause then you become as bad as the guys who come here looking to bash Thane and tell you to "deal with it".

Thane was amazing and for me this DLC did pretty much all I expected and they did it well but of course it will never match up to actually seeing Thane pre-coup or getting him a cure for those whom wanted such things... I however didnt, a funeral and some closure was all I wanted so Im happy.

Thane did actually use his biotics. He knocked Leng clear across the room which gave everyone a clear shot BUT NO ONE DID ANYTHING.

That fight scene is such a mess. I can't believe anyone can defend it.

The short answer is: more misery and heartbreak.

youtu.be/GSt-f_ig_18 - Romance version of Thane's memorial and videos

He was promoted, was he?
Maybe he never should have been demoted in the first place. He was already a full-fledged love interest in ME2. ME3 is the game that screwed everything up.

Does Thane's romance finally grant the paramour achievement with this DLC? I kind of doubt it, but I'm still curious.

Hmm.. people make stupid mistakes sometimes when tired. A guy working at a lab I visited for a project did a stupid mistake once with the lab-equipment. It cost him two fingers. When the guy instructing you on how to use the machines tells you to be careful, and is missing digits, you listen up a little extra. Have other stories with stupid mistakes, my uncle who I never did get to meet, he stod up in a small rowing boat and lost his balance. While falling over into the water he banged his head on the side which made him lose counciousnes. He drowned before they reached him from the shore.

Stupid mistakes happens, that is how I make it work for me at least in my own PT:s. He was tired from running and fighting, and a stupid mistake took his life. Like my uncle.

Guess it also helps for me that I play Engineers, so usually don't get into hand-to-hand combat.

I give credit, where credit is due. The memorial maybe... caused a few tears (which is rare in itself). It was very well done. I Just don't understand why female players got so dumped on. I know we are not the majority of the market, but we're also not a mere handful either. We count. :)

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaand that's what I meant by vitriol. Seriously, you're antagonizing fellow Thanemancers.

They DID show that through animations.

The world's greatest tactician & general should not have been taken out by a lazy ass conspiracy. Caesar was still stabbed to death. Meaning: Your reputation means squat in such a situation.

He was not balls deep in his illness by then. As he himself explained.

The nonsensical cereal argument? Have you read the novels? I mean, I despise Kai Leng. But he is not wannabe assassin.

I know & agree that Thane deserved better treatment. (Not a pun)

Citadel delivered that in my case.

As for Miranda's death: I used it to illustrate that if he can take HER down (With her improved genes, perfect health, great shape and stamina) easily, it isn't a stretch that a mortally ill and out of shape former master assassin might succumb to his blade.
