I remember when this happened and I don't recall any aggressive behaviour towards Chris, he was simply being asked if he had received a package containing Thane related stuff. Maybe Chris just genuinely thought he was being funny, maybe he was having a bad day. I don't know, but I don't believe he was provoked.

I see, I guess it was just a joke in bad taste. People said stuffs they don't mean all the time, I guess it was one of those moments.

Yeah, I think it was meant to be a joke. He does make a lot of jokes on twitter... he must just have a different sense of humour!

I'm curious as to why Chris responded like that. Did people get aggressive toward him or something?

Yes. Very. And then when he responded as such the victim card went flying about.

That figures. From the comments I read from him. He seems like a very nice person.

lol yeahhh

basically it was a classic situation where both sides were rude

No it was not. Thane fans were not being rude to him.

No it was not, moyra and cosmochyck were never rude to him.

Post a link to a tweet by moira, cosmochick, or even myself (wowbeta) that is rude and aggressive  or stop spreading out rumors that aren't true.

Nope, he is pulling it out of his... imagination.

Feel free to look at Chris tweetfeeds around that date to see if you find anything that might be considered insulting or rude.

1) It was very unprofessional for a PR rep to joke like that

2) It was unprovoked

3) Masha Potato and others routinelly come to this thread to say we are "playing the victim card" and seeing offense where there is none. This is proof Marsha and the others are wrong

4) A "tool dev" feeling free to mock us like that proves how low on the priority list we Thanemancers are, and also shows that BW (or at least Chris) is giving free reign for a side of the fandom to attack another site and treat Thanemancers as punchbags.

We were trolled harassed, insulted mercilessly and not one troll got a ban. I got banned twice already. Some others have been banned as well, for responding to trolls. Bioware is clearly showing favorites and everyone is ok with it. One day it will be their turn to fall on the bad graces of BSN and Bioware and I wont shed any tears.

To top it off, Thane "fans" that "supported the effort all along" are coming here and complaining WE ostracized them,

I get it that everyone wants to be with the "cool" crowd and not side with the ones being bullied, but you can't have it both ways. If you supported the effort you should NEVER come here to harass Thanemancers. We get harassed enough by the rest of BSN. Getting good game content that you never  thought you would get, thanks to us who have been screaming for months should earn your gratitude. Or at least cause you to have decency enough to not join in with the bullies.

I don't see anything rude so far. I think it was just a bad joke.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not trying to troll here and just trying to understand the situation better since I like Chris as a person, and it seems to be out of place for him to say it maliciously. I come to a conclusion that it was a flippant joke. BTW, I do support your cause. I can understand the outrage because there was absolutely no reason to have Thane dies. Even with his sickness, they could have just ended the game with him as a LI and allow people to headcannon the rest.

Meh. Without trying to insert myself too far in this, Chris does frequently come across as something of an intolerant dick at times.

It was a bad joke, made it worse by the fact that Garrus and Thane fans had sent Chris some fan made stuff on the same day and Chris had only tweeted about the Garrus stuff. Then this tweet.

It was of very bad taste and hurtful to us Thanemancers. Tipical of BW, we never heard an apology.

I post this here because people accuse us of inventing offenses. Nope. We don't need to invent them, they happen often, most times completely unprovoked. Anyone that pays attention sees it.

Yup, I don't really like the man, after seeing his actions with Thanemancers, the ME3 romance forum and the ME3 IT thread.

But I have to admit he has been pretty harmless and pleasant on the DA Forums. I think the difference is that DA devs and Gaider are not like Casey Hudson. I'll leave it at that before I get banned for saying what I think of Hudson ;)

I thought I saw Chris posting a picture of Thane stuffs somewhere. Is that what you referring to and how do you know he didn't receive the items on separate occasions?

Thane fans really were being treated unfairly by the devs and the fans in ME3. I'm not gonna lie.

EDIT: What is IT? Asides from that tweet, how did Chris come across? I don't usually come to ME forums, so I don't know how ME devs come across toward their fans considering both games were developed by different teams.

Ya he posted it 2 days after, after countless questions about had he got it or not.

IT = Indoctrination Theory. Basically a theory that the ME3 bad ending was all a dream, The thread had hundreds of pages but was vaguely disquieting to some ME3 devs so it got locked. No explanation given. And the entire NPC and Romance forum for ME3 has been locked for 5 months.

Basically DA devs and ME devs are completely different in terms of interacting with BSN. The only one that posted here with some frequency was Allan and he is on the DA team. No one else. I was completely blown away by how much the DA devs and Gaider post and answer to fan questions.

NPC and Romance forum locked may not have to do with Chris, and he may just happen to be the person to close it. The technical and help board was locked and transfer to Answers HQ as well, I believe. It does seem like there's some hot blood between Thane fans and Chris Priestly. While I'm not taking sides on this issue, I can see why you guys are frustrated with the developers.

DA devs seem to be more responsive, at the same time, there were more people asking stupid questions. :? . If any of you still play ME, let's hope they give everyone equal treatment the next time around and not just the typical "Straight male gamers".

The IT thread was locked? I just thought the people in it gave up upon realizing that Citadel was the last DLC and their mad dreams were never going to come to fruition.

Oh well. It was an eyesore either way.

yes it shows how low on the priority list you are hence why throwing a fit is a waste of energy and that stupid priestly tweet is no where near the top of my list of disappointing things bioware have done as of late so yeah uh

get ova it???

this isn't a community anymore it's a tantrum throwing fest don't treat it like something it's not bc i'm getting major second hand embarassment over it like step down from the tirade pls and embrace being a brat

While I consider IT grasping at straws it really got my goat that game owners with a non offensive game discussion of hundreds of pages got locked out of discussing it - and several were banned - just because ME hotshots felt uncomfortable with it.

@BattleBloodMage - No, I am completely done with ME. I don't want to put my time energy and money on a group of developers that respects their fans so little.

Luckily I really enjoyed DA2 and found Anders a much better LI and story than Thane. I am very excited for DA3. The devs on the DA team seem to be fair and to respect fans. They don't take cr*p from fans but they do respect and listen to fans. You as a Cullen fan know all about it :) Were it a minor npc on ME that got this fan following I'm pretty sure the thread would have been locked. ALL romance threads were locked.

I do agree that DA developers are a lot more respectful toward every segment of their fans. David Gaider defended Cullen fans several times already.

The fans are still frustrated with the ending, not only Thane, and they refuse to fix anything. It's like adding salt to the wounds. They are too prideful to change anything for some reasons, but it is what it is, I suppose. ME team needs to learn to communicate with the fans more. If they can't change the ending or Thane's fate, then at least explain why. The lack of response from them can be pretty frustrating.

Oh believe me, I noticed that the ME forums are not a community anymore. It always happens when the "teacher" picks favorites and encourages the bullies.

Tbh, I'm over ME, over Thane even.

What I am not over yet is the bullying and the opportunistic "Thane lovers" that "supported the fight all along" that are coming out of the woodwork daily just to harass fellow gamers. Like Bioware, ME3 and the endings ? Good for you, I'm not going into your adoration threads and insulting you, why are you coming here to torment us ?

This attitude is bad for gamers. Is bad for people. Is bad for consumers. And I hope one day the jerks acting this way realize that.

I wouldn't call it non-offensive, really; they were growing steadily more insular, vicious and intolerant. Who are the people who were banned, by the way?

I don't know Xili, I wasn't very interested in IT but anyone who tried to start a thread got banned and I read on forums that people were told to use groups and then banned for stuff they posted on groups.

Haven't played Citadel yet since I'm finally cracking all those games out of shrink wrap on my shelf for so long (thanks ME3 MP), but I didn't think the Thane romance was mangled or anything. Is he in Citadel?
