You're very ignorant if you honestly think the only reason people hate the ending is because shepard dies OP.
Agreed, Shepard dying or not is the least of my issues with the end game or endings. It only annoys me slightly when some "Destroyers" state it as their main reason for picking destroy, and everything else is crap just for that reason..
My main reason for disliking the endings was that it feelt that it was rushed and the priority earth mission all the way to the beam was half finnished.
As for the rest of the endigns with the Catalyst... I realy don't think it's very dramaticly interesting and I think they should have been able to come up with something better. What anoys me the most is the nagging feeling that it was rushed and didn't become that great ending I was hoping for. Like a halffinished product. I've described this to great lengths in other threads.. To do so again would be to repeat myself for the 30th time or something.
I can Let go of it, but I'm not changign my opinion, I'm just reprioritizing my interests. Which atm would be new good games from Bioware and hoping they get it right or at least mostly right so I get another great story, hopefully with a better endgame.
I'm not saying the ending and endgame was terrible after the EC but it was no doubt subpar to what I was expecting from the people at Bioware. Who I know are very talented people.
