I can't let the ending go. I'll never be able to let it go.
And it has absolutely nothing to with Shep dying (I knew my canon femShep would die since ME1).

Here's why I don't like the ending:

And here's why the EC fails:

Come on! Watch it! It's only 40+10 minutes long! ;)

MrBtongue sums up most of my problems with the ending.

Nah, ending is baaaad and Bioware should feel bad.

It is by far and away the most disapointing ending to a game i have ever witnessed and deserves every single bit of the criticism.

QFT.

It deserves every bit of criticism and more, because the ending is so astronomically bad, it's almost unbelievable.

If you will "never be able to let it go," you have a problem that stretches far beyond a video game ending.

If the authors can for a moment see beyond their egomania they will see a sequel is the right thing, they don't have to explicitly admit the salted earth approach was wrong ... but they do have to implicitly admit it by making a sequel. Or the book closes on the ME universe.

No amount of positivity will make me buy a prequel.

PS. just for reference, I am not outright against buying DA3 ... although obviously I'm not going to pre-order anything from Bioware any more, except perhaps a multiplayer game to get access to a beta.

Serves them right for making their own video game, right?

What? Me not giving them money? Yes, guess it does.

Art for arts sake is for starving artists and fluke successes ... entertainers should be a little more humble and work to please for their money.

Or it's just what some fans of anything go through and not outside of the norm at all.

Every time I think about the ME series, the ending, and how craptastic it was comes to mind.
I don't go around thinking about the ending 24/7 (or any game for that matter).

Thus, I can't let go of the ending.

You're very ignorant if you honestly think the only reason people hate the ending is because shepard dies OP.

Agreed, Shepard dying or not is the least of my issues with the end game or endings. It only annoys me slightly when some "Destroyers" state it as their main reason for picking destroy, and everything else is crap just for that reason..

My main reason for disliking the endings was that it feelt that it was rushed and the priority earth mission all the way to the beam was half finnished.

As for the rest of the endigns with the Catalyst... I realy don't think it's very dramaticly interesting and I think they should have been able to come up with something better. What anoys me the most is the nagging feeling that it was rushed and didn't become that great ending I was hoping for. Like a halffinished product. I've described this to great lengths in other threads.. To do so again would be to repeat myself for the 30th time or something.

I can Let go of it, but I'm not changign my opinion, I'm just reprioritizing my interests. Which atm would be new good games from Bioware and hoping they get it right or at least mostly right so I get another great story, hopefully with a better endgame.
I'm not saying the ending and endgame was terrible after the EC but it was no doubt subpar to what I was expecting from the people at Bioware. Who I know are very talented people.

God damn it, this game did damage. I am continuously amazed by this, even after a full year people are still expressing their disappointment.

Never in a million years did I think I would still be here now, talking about it. Quite an accomplishment on the part of it's creators and quite the lesson for them I'm sure.

People need to stop posting about the ending, it's over. Bioware gave us a FREE EC. Sure the ending was garbage before the EC. All these polls about it are pointless. Now you probably thinking, "Oh, this idiot isn't a true fan, he hasn't played all the mass effects or he hasn't played them long enough." I have in fact I preorderd every single one and have the trilogy. The fact that everyone hates the ending because Shepard dies is ridiculous, I know there is other reasons why people hate it, but, this seems to be the main reason(in my observations). I understand it is not *complete* either. Some people hate it because they didnt get what they wanted. It's biowares game and they can do whatever they want with it. I hate the ending, but I also enjoy it and like it as well but I've found closure with it and I'm definitely getting the next mass effect.

In a word: No.

In multiple words: Bioware is STILL much better than this. They deserve to be able to show it. We deserve to be able to see it.

Basically, my response.

It's been a year.

If people still aren't over the ending by now, then they never will be (not to say that you aren't justified either way).

OTOH, if people still don't understand how / why ME3's ending fails, they never will (it was probably beyond their capacity to anyway).

I'm personally 'over' the ending because I accept that it's probably not going to change. By no means will I call it a good ending, but I just don't feel it's worth it to hang on to.

It took a lot to make an ending like ME3's. As such, better games with better stories will come along, so I'd rather look forward to those. But for now I'll just enjoy the things that are good about ME3.

Ending will be always garbabe for some people, because someone wants heroic walk into the sunrise, others wants Shepard to wake up from bad writing and the last ones wants just good writing...

Comments like this are so unnecessary and rude.

I'm sure the poster didn't mean that he was sitting around all the time doing nothing but thinking about Mass Effect's endings. God forbid you bring up or continue to discuss issues you have with a game in a forum about said game.

A pity they don't even acknowledge it.

It seems to Bioware, the endings are nothing short of awesome.  Anyone who says otherwise is confused and thier opinion to be disregarded as unimportant.

ME3 has the greatest ending EVAR! It delivered on all fronts! It was everything we were promised. It's in line with what we got in ME1 and ME2 only better! Stop the whining. It's the greatest thing since sliced bread.

True.
The guy obviously has unresolved problems since he feels the need to be rude on forums where he can hide behind anonymity ;)

Those people are pretty pathetic. When they're old and dying they're gonna look back and wonder why they wasted a year of their life crying over an ending of a video game

So you liked the turret with no objective in the FOB? The lack of a reactive story or at least some kidn of edknowledgement of added war assets? the lack of everything except for shooter action after leaving the FOB. Not even the background radio chatter edknowledges the difference between a galactic wide extinction level EMS or 20,000 EMS well past perfect ending...

The squadies left on the normandy arn't put to work even if their experience and capabilities would be invaluble.

The lsit goes on, but thse thigns are things that the earlier games did better. Even Virmire in ME1 handeld story progression durign the mission and differentiation better than the ME3 ending.... Like someone else on this board said, the favrite mission are those where it feels like you arn't the only person at work out there.

Please, you are trying to talk sense into the most stubborn group of "so called fans" in the entire internet. They can't let go, because for many of them this game is their life, many others just got on the hate choo choo and rolled off and now they can't get off. Many of them had genuine complaints but were lost in all the " I hate the endings" whiny threads posted everywhere.

You have the EC, they hated, you had the free MP dlc, they hated, you had Leviathan, they hated, you had Omega, they hated, you will have Citadel, they are hating just in case...

Just do what I do...let them cry rivers of butthurt and drown in them...

I don't hate the ending because Shepard dies (I use the phrase Shepard dies and not my Shepard. Since the vast amount of auto-dialogues and the removal of the neutral option from the conversation wheel merely makes it my Shepard anymore...), I hate the ending because it goes against the lore of ME1 and ME2, it's contradicts everything, full of plot holes and it is inconsistent with the trilogy. If they could fix this they have my money regardless of Shepard lives or dies. They ****ed up the ending lore wise so badly that it's hard to forgive... and yet no one took the blame from the paid professionals for such a silly ending but they're blaming the fans and calling them a loud minority.......

I'm confused. Is there actually a problem with complaining about complainers if it's a valid complaint?

If someone's whining in your ear for a year are you out of line to ask them to stop?

Oh on another note, this kind of thread is just what they LOOOVE, so they can " Explain" with detail why they hate the game and you are a brownnose....or a ****...I believe that's the term they mostly enjoy.
