What kind of NPC are you expecting in Awakings?

There'll be 5 new companions and one from origins, which will likely be Alistar or Oghren. Alistar would be a more likely choice if you ask me, but is also a character which could easily play a big role even when he's not a companion.

In the trailer you see a couple of humans and a dwarf next to the PC (altouh you can't be sure which the PC is all the time), all appear to be male.

Now which character are you hoping to see again and what kind of companions do you want to see or are you expecting to? Races, personality, involvement in the plot, number of romances.

In a lot of epic campaigns in RPG get more exotic companions, altough being the Grey Warden commander you wouldt expect the party to be mostly Grey warden and most of those are human. In trailer we've seen spirits and... darkspawn. They talk about traitors and that in a war against darkspawn, which might mean people are helping the darkspawn, could then the other way around be also possible? Altough the Grey Wardens wouldn't accept that likely.

I'm hoping for a rogue which is deadly serious, maybe like Stern. Heavily focussed on getting the job done, planning and determining the largest chances of succes, not evil, but not wasting time on moral problems either. A little involement in the plot, but not too much and not too obvious. We've seen already seen so many charming, joking rogues, who have lived a pirate's life.  I would love to see more of a special ops kind of guy (or women) as rogue for once.

Another kind of personality that I would find interesting would be a king Maric kind, interested in doing the right thing, but only for the fame. Would be fun to see what kind of parties would really embrace him, zealous types would get fet up with him or try to teach him about the greater good and evil guys don't see what he sees in the "fame".

Myself I'm hoping there'll be a balance in the classes, in Origins I found it difficult at times that a mage is quite essential to the party and yet it's easy to clash with both Morigan and Wynn roleplaywise. At times interesting how to manage, at others a bit annoying.

An heavily armored lady-warrior/knight, definitely. Bossy, stern, but with an hidden soft side maybe. Most definitely romanceable.

The lack of this kind of character was my only gripe with Origins...

Well I was hoping for some "Moral Clashes" with the five new npc's personalities. Such as maybe one companion having a Chantry/Circle/Templar background being completely against Blood Magic and then have a companion who's a hardcore demon summoning, blood magic wielding apostate and i'd just love to see how the two would get along.

We know there is a male mage.
I want a female elf Warrior (pref, DW warrior).
There will be some sort of rogue, I'm thinking human female, swashbuckler style. Sort of similar to Isabella in some ways.
For the 'evil/bad' character I think it will be a 2h warrior, probably male.
Then a sword and board warrior, most likely male.

So out of the five it would be 1 mage, 1 Rogue, 3 Warriors (since the game has a warrior fetish). With 2 females, 3 males. The mage will be romance male/female. The Elf female DW will be male only. The 'evil-bad' 2hander will be female only (Males had their 'bad' romance in Origins, females get it in Awakening). The female swashbuckler rogue would be female/male. Then the male sword/board is un-romanceable. But I also hear that their might be a romance between the two companions. If that is the case, then I'm not sure how it will work.

Then their is Oghren.... so it comes to 2 females, 4 males. 1 mage, 1 Rogue, 4 Warriors.

I say warrior fetish because their is massive armor galore. So many sets you don't even have enough characters to put everything on. But very little rogue equipment, and almost non-existant mage equipment.

When you look at Origins it was 2 Mages, 2 Rogues, 5 Warriors (including Dog/shale). So the 1,1,4 works. Then the evil/bad companion is a warrior that way you aren't forced to take him (like you would be with Mage/Rogue).

That's my guessing anyway.

I was just wondering, how many elves are there in Orlais and what's their social status? Might chance what we could expect as companions, the same of course for the dwarves and qunari.

There are lots of elves in Orlais... working as servants as in Fereldan. But, this being Orlais, some have risen quite high in the service of the wealthy housea, to the extent they are envied by human commoners.

The Orlesians like elves because they are pretty and cultured. One of the party tells you all this, alhtough it would be a spoiler to say who, or the circumstances you need to get the conversation going.

On another note, I think you'll get an older Jolee-bindoo from Kotor type Grey Warden to assist as you try and resurrect the ordr in Ferelden. And possibly an intelligent Darkspawn companion who's working to his own agenda. Oh, and Oghren.

i can't see alistair being the companion since 2 of the 4 endings of origins really don't allow for that option. as well, a dwarf that looks very, very much like oghren has been spotted in the awakenings trailer.

just for sh*ts and giggles, i'd like to see a male mage companion that is a "little off the beaten path" like that hermit in the brecilian forest. that would lend itself to some very interesting party interaction.

They have said that the new companion will be most deffinetly a surprise so it wont be Alistait nor Oghren(they would'nt reveal such a huge spoiler in the trailer obviously).

But thats just my opinion we dont know for sure right.

As for the companions, well, tough to say cause I was really suprised by original origins companions.
So i would like to see mage who maybe escaped circle of magi and he's being constantly hunted by templars.

An ex prisoner maybe? would be a good idea, sten like attitude but talks a bit more? Also not a ex prisoner to chantry like Sten was but that other prison I dont remember the name.

A black dude :) (not being racist but we didnt see any black dudes in origins). He should be really stylish a lil bit of that Alistairs sarcasm and deadly as hell with a bow.:ph34r:

Running out of ideas here. Cant think of a unique female except for a real warrior, kind of manly attitude (sexy though) with a massive armour but someone already told that.

Im sure though that Bioware will come up with even better ideas so we would have to wait and see.
(Sorry for my bad english)-_-

Can't say why as this is the no spoiler forum, but I reckon Al could make it into Awakenings regardless of the ending you choose.

I'd like to see:

- a huge female human tank in massive armour with experience, who will question you and challenge your Warden/group authority...sort of like 2 captains steering one ship kind of thing.

- a mysterious, gentle and beautiful female Elven mage who is devoted to her Elven heritage and Gods.

- a quiet, sarcastic lonely ranger male.

Hmmm...

- a 40 something female Warden commander from the Anderfell's Fortress - who would challenge the main character about the methods/goals to rebuild the order in Ferelden (can't be romanced);

- a mid-30s male Orlesian Chevalier - noble and very high handed with the female comapnions/main (romance with females only);

- Wynne's old apprentice (can't say more because of spoilers) - male elf healer - young but mature and compassionate (romance with females only);

- Dagna of Orzamar (young female dwarf - can't say more because of spoilers), burglar/librarian (romance with males only);

- a 30 something female nevaran dragon hunter, very tough, very manly - would clash with the Warden commander or the Chevalier (romance with male or female);

- possibly Oghren (romance female only);

- last but not least, an early 30s male magister sent from Tevinter to investigate the aftermath of the 5th Blight (and possibly Morrigan's experiment...). Very masculine, witty, smooth and cultured, he would be romancable (in a "I'm using you" kind of way) by either males or females. Possible connections between the tevinter blood mages and the 'intelligent' darkspawn we will see.

I'd definitely love to have a Tevinter mage around. I want to know more about those guys.
