Just did my first Silver solo

Just under 25 minutes, on Glacier, Krogan Vanguard with the Reegar Carbine + incendiary. Also a couple of pieces of level 3 equipment may have made this solo overkill. Just a little bit. What can I say, there's no kill like overkill.
Admittedly, it was my first attempt at a Silver solo, so I had no idea how it was going to go. As it was, pretty smooth. Naturally, being the goddamn Krogan Battlemaster helped, as did the objectives (wave 3 - hack, wave 6 - pizza and wave 10 - assassinations). Only used a single Ops pack, in the middle of a Pyro gangbang, and had a couple of hairy moments, like fighting a Prime in the LZ with two rocket troopers taking turns to shoot at me, but by and large, it was surprisingly easy.
Also enjoyable too, which I normally don't find solos to be. I'm actually feeling pretty confident about working my way up to Gold solos now.

Soloing with the krogan vanguard doesn't feel like soloing with other classes. Just FYI =P

Yeah, that was why I did that class and that map - as I'd never done a Silver solo before, I decided to go easy mode, and see how terrible I'd be.
I've solo'd most classes on Bronze, but, well, Bronze...

I am going to attempt to solo a tombstone pizza later tonight.
This sounds like a good idea.

Niiiiice OP, I remember my first solo
Silver too, did it with my QMI on Giant/Geth. Haven't made the
transition to solo gold yet but I'll try it... eventually.

Yeah, with a kroguard + Reegar, you can solo gold without much effort at all.
Gimme a build!
Gratzy, OP! Hearing about others' success makes me want to Solo.

Biggest 2 differences between gold n silver kroguard solos I noticed was that 1) if you get staggered at a bad time while tanking a pyro+prime combo you CAN die 2) gold armor value is 50 per projectile instead of 30, so you definitely want to use ap mod + ap ammo to get 100% armor reduction to chew through primes.
I'm not a good player by any means and I did my 2 gold solos in 30 minutes each that way. If your charge CD is a bit high from reegar weight or passives, you can just try a bigger map and play it more defensively. The only real threat of failure is stagger+multiple pyros.
edit: 17 minute gold geth solo for an idea of how aggressively you can play this class vs geth

If your reegar is levelled pretty high and your kroguard build is standard, you can just throw a cyclonic + ap ammo on and do the same thing to gold. Just separate the pyros/hunters/bombers from the primes on later waves and you can't die.

Thanks for the advice. RNG (and lots of grinding) has earned me a good Reegar level, and I will definitely give AP a try over Incendiary. I used the AP mod, but it was a little lacklustre once the shield was stripped, I will admit.
Yeah, I noticed those Pyros were getting a little...uncomfortable, at points. Not dangerous as such, but far more threatening than anything else on the map. I tended to leave the Primes to last, I would assume that is a good strategy for Gold as well? In my experience, boss units tend to look threatening and focus your concentration on them, while Marauders/Pyros/Collector Captains actually take you down.

I'm not a great player or even a good one, and I managed. I used the Battlemaster [specced for maximum survivability] + Wraith/Shredder Mod 5/Omniblade 5 [folks will tell you it's easier with the Reegar, and they're surely right] + level 3 incendiary ammo, along with Juggernaut Shield V, Cyclonic Modulator 3, and Strength Enhancer 3. Incendiary ammo + biotic charge makes for some nice fire explosions, and you can beat a lot of evil robots to death with all that melee paraphernalia. The key was figuring out when not to charge. If I can do it, so can you.
